are Sexton, Davis and O'Sullivan there only to lay out the cones or does Cuthbert consult them, because if they are ok with this carry on they are ruining their own reputations for no reward0

A good question and one Im trying to figure out also. We should acknowledge that these fellas are even less experienced then Cuthbert having never managed a senior club team between them. I went to tullamore for the Sligo game during the summer and was directly behind the cork dug out; it seemed to work like this:
Cuthbert standing on his own walking the line, ronan mc did all the drills/pre warm up on his own. Ciaran was the runner operating from Cuthbert while davis and sexton sat down all game offering encouragement.
The management team rarely conferred and it looked a strange set up and was obviously one that was out of its depth0 -
TTM... The Youghal group in the harty cup could still be interesting. Rochestown will top the group. Could the other 3 teams end on 4 pts if results go a certain way. Very possible. Youghal must play Charleville and Templemore.0
-
Smith I'd agree
You right Finn staying charville
Talk is even though quilty leaving ballyhea they will try persuade him stay but he's meant be based dublin so it remains to be seem
Youghal should beat charville imo
Templemore be tough
Hopefully go through
Ag,rochestown , midelton could get to a final, Youghal won't but be great got out group
Hammies won't win it but more capable taking a scalp or two. Key is o leary, meade. Reilly. Mulchay don't get injured, miss even one them they don't have depth
Hammies are an inspirational school what achieved in three years harty
They don't do excuses
What a school based on principles founder. Cycle to and back cork go to college he done in he's day
No challenge unsormountable.
This school is a real real credit to cork hurling. A great great school I mean great now.

Cusack, real values see not bout money understand value gaa stand for and I agree can't go profeswe sional
The voice cork hurling cries out for in its darkest hours imo.0 -

Youghal have only one game left v Charleville, they beat Templemore first day out - you'd expect they should win that but .........
Shannon still in with a shout and can't be discounted - Teams have made the mistake before thinking with 2 wins in bag they would Coast home - think Midleton last year and Rochestown caught them on hop
it's within Rochestown grasp to top group but they have a tendency to underachieve so it ain't over til it's over0 -

Brian buckley cork came on as a sub great to see
Lad U15 for cork winning team with ger cunningham this year
Good player
Looking at doon their strong, Colin Ryan lords air any time I saw him, both v tipp cork last year, and Barry Murphy played senior doon will take watching
Cummins, is fine full back, Shane o connell fine hurler on limerick panel last year played half forward last year sweeper role is good at centre Back so lee has start at 11 to limit he's influence
Longergan dangerous forward
Ryan imo will need to be Marked by Eddie Gunning and Callaghan for Barry Murphy
Ideally gunning be three but Ryan is powerful in the air
Gunning was majestic today
Cork Senior written all over him full back in three should be corner back in two
Should start u21 next year that good
He's a warrior, tough, abrasive, christ he has oceans hurling.
A leader, hunger, want, dogged, got it all.
Interesting bulger with them, but strong doon team yes but can be beaten
Murphy,o connell, Ryan all in third year harty cup so expierenced but Eddie Gunning, lee,Donovan etc have likewise.
Ryan was goalkeeper two years ago for them
If charville win dean semi final won't be too concerned with harty,it's development for next year in truth
I'm gutted won't make Friday game0 -
So are Christians the only Cork team left in the B competition?0

Donal Óg the only man - has to be involved in inspiring and guiding the future of Cork hurling
A man with passion, vision and hurling
unfortunately not a snowballs chance with Frank at the helm
It's a shame the bigger names of John Allen, Donal O Grady don't offfer their services - I'd favour Pat Ryan, Fergal Ryan, Wayne Sherlock, John Gardiner, Sean Óg, the younger guys 20 yr olds would identify with and work for - all those names have been involved with minor/21 in their clubs
Older age group maybe Eddie Murphy, John Myler
To be honest I don't think Teddys the man for the job, and it's another damning indictment of the dinosaurs in the CCB if he's appointed
There is wholesale ignorance and arrogance by these officials entrusted with running Cork GAA who choose to be so blinkered in their choices, and who are the ruination of our teamsK0 -
TTM
Just to harp on about last years minors for a minute : Gunning - you rate him, as do I
he had been injured but was fit and able for selection for cork minors v Limerick - he had come through a challenge game in the weeks before the game - but not picked !!!!!!0 -

I would be surprised if Cusack had any interest in being involved with Cork at any level. He is too busy with all his other interests. He has it too cushy now and why would he put his reputation on the line. What he says seems gospel to a lot of people but it's easy have all the answers when given an open mic. Has he expressed an interest in any Cork post?
Still nothing coming out about the U21 job, surely O Grady (with pat mul and other future coaches) if he has cork at heart should let his interest be known and I'm sure there would be outcry if he was overlooked. Is u21 glamorous enough tho.0 -
Couldn't see how Donal Og could work under the current County Board. I doubt there would be trust on either side.0

You must be having a laugh, outcry won't happen in cork, o grady offered take senior during strike ccb said no, jbm wanted 21job 2011 but wouldn't allow him pick own selectors
Cusack far from cushy number, various boards, doing great work on trying save environment pollution east cork, and many other things.
An inspirational to man kind imo0 -

I agree with you re donal óg, hard to imagine he wouldn't be available given his declared and obvious obsession with cork hurling.
Why is it there's always such cloak and dagger re all things cork GAA
Is there any cork sports journalists out there with a set of balls might rattle a few cages and ask the CCB and the afore mentioned cork heroes a few hard questions - And do a bit of an auld expose of the skeletons, get some truth down on paper
Wasn't there an article recently with himself about staide Frank, was it all nodding and bowing and just transcribing what he said or was he asked a few questions !
It's no wonder the state we're in0 -
Limerick have imo huge significance to what they do for cork hurling as imo are the only team that could stop cork getting to all irelands hurling Quater Final next year imo.
Limerick minors have from last year panel eligible for next year panel as follows :
Barry Murphy doon third year harty cup senior doon
Part this year panel
Conor Boylan na piarssigh son David Boylan ex midelton player na piarssigh of limerick selector
Paddy loughin Kilmallock captain charville kinnane cup winning team last year outstanding full back or centre playing harty charville
Conor Fitzgerald claughan starter
Last year reminds me of claughan cork bred Mike galligan, who tom Ryan inexcusably imo omitted from senior all Ireland final in which that decision came back to bite him in the arse in hurling talk so to speak in that game
Adam O brien goal keeper ahane u17 keeper
Brian Ryan south liberties two years left minor brother tom Ryan senior hurler limerick
Is a good hurler, fine forward imo.
Darragh Carroll Dromkeen 2 year's left minor
Conor houlian Ard scoil na piarssigh
Peter Casey na piarssigh two years left as minor fantastic forward
Seamus Flanagan Hazelwood last year limerick vocational title won, still with no harty cup played limerick minors outstanding season, one better players in all irelands final
Playing harty now west limerick colleges who doing well so will improve again fine forward
Real warrior
Eoghhan McNamara abbey cbs school of darach o donnell likely be keeper like last year
Conor Byrnes murrohe half back played solid senior season for murrohe this year
Thomas Grimes na piarssigh half back or midfield in
Conor macsweenry south liberties senior club year no harty cup as with crescent
Tom Hayes doon solid full back member last year panel expierence harty likely play full allow loughin at six
A lot of experienced panel members that will gained from last year
Combined with new faces they will be formidable
The huge disappointment of last year won't hinder them as long as fresh new talent now Is available in their but key is Leo o connor replacement for Brian Ryan management can't be overstated.
Leo is not perfect as a manager but he will listen to hes selectors.
Wallis is central to limerick, the coil wheel limerick hurling underage turns on.Leo, john mulqueen. Brian foley who was with 17s and pat Donnelly are new and bring a fresh ethos in but key is their is a unity and cohesion and Wallis will be tactical, main voice I feel.
Stephen macdonagh defence Coach last year was good and imo he is a loss alright as is but having said that management is stronger imo as manager much better, he won munster title u21 beating cork but truth cork lost that on the sideline,
Same game extra time our set up with teddy as selector couldn't see need play Seamus harnedy.
Brought of a sick lehane then brought him on again, made appalling call to move walsh majestic half forward to full forward, then brought on Paul haughney when cork needed physicality.
The limerick council having a civic reception for limerick minor tomorrow, I can see one view why and I know players deserve recognition and I'm all for that but imo I don't agree with it as two munster in a row as good as it was, no all irelands and I just feel it's typical limerick culture of moral defeat. It won't do limerick hurling any good in the long term, it seems same old same old.The cultural attitude in reaction to failure must change in limerick hurling , it's exactly like cork football has imo.
They had a post event in kilmurry lodge Shortly after all irelands and that's deserved absolutely ,imo that should be that, but celebrating a munster title and all Ireland final defeat now , to me is celebrating failure, harsh but true.
Would kilkenny kerry minors do it I doubt it. The days of huge celebrating with out holy grail in sport imo are long gone. I could understand doing it last year after munster win but a second munster title doesn't do much imo as must do more and minor munster title was never the holy grail, all irelands was from start year when many had them justifiably favourites.
Would Brian o driscoll roy keane do such things having lost a final I doubt it
Limerick rather than do that would be better served asking honest truths why they failed in the set up,learn from it,and don't pick poor management the next time and realise as good any talent is, it needs good management and realise politics of limerick hurling is holding back them when could be winning all irelands.
Other talented hurlers new to the panel next year that imo will be possibly in the running for the panel are, lot played u17this year and u16 for limerick As follows
Joe longergan Cappamore school
Doon Forward experience at harty
Ian coutes old christian superb game at half forward for Castletroy yesterday bar sending off winning a lot of ball
Tadhg Whelan Forward doon good player
Brian Nash corner back or half south Liberties Castletroy , played corner yesterday up against dan gunning who was good but Nash had he's moments
Darren golden monaleen unused sub Castletroy yesterday minor next two years I think
Paudie Ahern midfield Kileedy
Peadar Collins defender na piarssigh
Luke Doran defender Ballybrown
Brien macpartland doon
Liam McCartan forward Newcastle west west limerick colleges
Cathal o Keeffe forward Granagh Ballingarry
Mickey mackey ahane forward
Aron Kennedy forward Murroe Boher Castletroy played yesterday late replacement to start
Jack Casey murrohe Boher
Kyle Dillon Forward ace free taker Bruff
Aron Hackett ahane Castletroy yesterday's on the street subs,is a defender
Eoin Ryan Adare forward
Sean Hogan Adare defender
Michael Andrews na piarssigh defender
Michael Sexton Templeglantine
west limerick colleges schools forward
Cian Magner Flynn forward Kileedy west limerick colleges goal yesterday in harty been outstanding I hear so far them in the harty cup
Pj herr effin defender for Charville cbs dean Ryan cup semi final tomorrow. Fine player from that small but great hurling parish of effin.
Lot them played in u 17 won wexford tournament beating dublin, and two wexford teams handy in wexford in the summer.
I saw them all irelands u17 mallow hammer clare 7-17 to-10
They beat kilkenny 1-10 to 1-8
Cork beat them 11 to 1-6 in the semi just 40 minutes later so they were tired but had goal disallowed from Adam O brien and hit the post last minute they like cork were missing key players but still showed well and we're strong enough so limerick minor hurling compared to years ago is world's apart, their a serious player now and they deserve to be fair play to them, huge credit for the massive turnaround and for more importantly sustaining the huge development squads work their doing, and the huge will combined with investment money in making limerick underage hurling on the road for excellence.
I'm sure that panel I done will alter as Wallis is shrewd and if form dictates him and o connor will drop or add players according to the panel so players will come and go but imo on players I picked shows limerick can put together a very good team and while not good as last year and understandable in lorchan lyons, Cian and ronan lynch, Barry Nash, Andrew la Touche Cosgrave, Colin Ryan, tom morrisey are all ineligible for selection next year will be a big test all the same for any team in munster that meets them.
It's tough draw for cork teams in imo I can't see anything bar cork v limerick minor semi final in gaelic ground's next year, irrespective of whether cork or limerick loose the ist day,imo both are well capable going to Waterford and winning up their and would do that. I can't see Waterford beating tipp, meant have fine team in making, liam cahill is a good coach imo.Tipp will beat Waterford in Thurles and clare in the semi final.
There is going to be mind games in cork v limerick ist day, you don't want to loose any game but I'm not sure cork or any team will beat limerick twice, in one year, especially the next game in limerick
Waterford have some fine hurlers individual next year but have a new management and most harty cup teams this year bar blackwater possibly not doing great and unlikely to make the knock out stages
I can see cork winning if they had to play them
Limerick beat them twice the last two years, Waterford aren't as strong management or player wise, limerick lost a lot great minors but still have a core Last year, teams doing well in the harty should if they had to beat them
It's hard to know if limerick will really be up for cork in cork won't go out to loose but may expierment for a bit and be much stronger later on.
On paper I think cork have as good as panel if not better imo particularly abundance better forwards with star quality, harty cup team and dean Ryan and old christian with bill hennessey and Michael o halloran doing well in the munster b so far cork hurling is definitely at schools closing the gap but really really big litmus test imo is when cork schools play doon and in Ard scoil in knock out stages
So far just Ag mhuire just played the one limerick team Castletroy and their was nothing between them but management tactics were wrong.
I am confident next year but that's only if landers stays involved, Denis ring has won county, harty croke cups won as manager and will do a great job but needs coach, landers well respected players and other coaches, huge loss from the minors if goes, and could be a huge set back to cork just when we're turning a corner at underage
Can he do both roles?
Not sure could as coach cork senior as it is a huge undertaking for a man in ist year senior coaching no real senior coaching club expierence to do two roles in intercounty teams.
He's with Killeagh 21also,in main grade next year I'm sure he may want to stay with them interesting to see what unfolds.
In relation to the harty cup it's two teams out of four groups qualify, and Hamilton two from two, rochestown two from two should beat telemplemore but Paul kinnerks caoimhins will test thems, should qualify though
Midelton will qualify and hammies will also I think
Their was always going to be one school cork loose out in rochestown, Youghal, charville group.
Youghal could beat charville and qualify, so two teams qualify here is great.
Colmans won't imo but may have a chance but it's rebuilding for them, they have a fine dean Ryan cup team unlucky this year, with crowley coaching them, will be better next year imo
Lord mayo cup good idea but teddy mac running it,I'm sceptical tbh,and I hope this won't give him immunity from criticism in regards management , but he will likely if wants get any cork job he wants imo
I'd worry slightly time frame games,as clashing dean Ryan harty cup etc.this should not hide from the fact this will be useless unless you appoint top proven 21,minor cork coaches.
The lack of profile regards 21 job, the lack of valid question about regards candidate teddy mac is shocking imo as here we go again, surely Cork must demand better.
I hope pat Ryan got it,sars have a lot of. Favour from the cork county board so I hope he get it,least he is proven
Teddy mac record club, county, in and out of cork is appalling and sarsfields even let him go, year after won the county
Teddy man management and tactics are very poor not my opinion just look at he's record
Only one county title with bandon
B and b you have point regards gunning but cian walsh, Shane o brien two fine corner backs, played intermediate senior for club.
Bourke at full be fair had a good season.
I would rate gunning better I agree but he missed lot other games due injury.
They made the call he hadn't enough game time.
I would have had introduced him as sub I agree but still could not really make strong argument for him ahead Bourke superb grenagh intermediate at half forward, strong in air so he was fine at full back.
Na Piarsaigh are still sore he didn't play, I totally see why, terrific player but we're close calls
Glen kennifick is the same, injury hampered him, glen played him and had superb season,so again tough call but bar injury should started and Alec luttrel would bar injury pushed hard also.
Their can only be six forward next year and going to be some very very close calls as Imo 12 or so could be in real real contention to start.0 -
B and b I totally agree with your cusack sentiment, I done this post weeks ago regards Cusack
Album: A New Journey
I hear your voice on the wind
And I hear you call out my name
"Listen, my child," you say to me
"I am the voice of your history
Be not afraid, come follow me
Answer my call, and I'll set you free"
I am the voice in the wind and the pouring rain
I am the voice of your hunger and pain
I am the voice that always is calling you
I am the voice, I will remain
I am the voice in the fields when the summer's gone
The dance of the leaves when the autumn winds blow
Ne'er do I sleep thoughout all the cold winter long
I am the force that in springtime will grow
I am the voice of the past that will always be
Filled with my sorrow and blood in my fields
I am the voice of the future, bring me your peace
Bring me your peace, and my wounds, they will heal

Driving home the other day,the voice,Emiear Quinn Eurovision winning song came on the radio, from 1996 the same year Wexford won the All Ireland.I am not a eurovision fan but the lyrics of that song struck me to the Core, in that Donal Og Cusack rekindles a lot imo with the song lyrics as He's Values Corellates a lot in similarity with the words in this Song .Cusack is like the Voice in Cork GAA its been crying out for in the darkness, for a long long time now.He would be the Mother Nature ,Cork hurling needs to watch over it.
That Voice Spoke On Sunday 17th August 2014 On National TV,like an Address To The Sporting Nation Of Ireland.Like Roy Keanes famous interview ,Addressing the Nation im 2002,Saipan ,Tommy O Gorman Interview after he had the balls ,honesty,to call a spade a spade and expose the shambles,in the Mickey mouse set up ireland soccer was then.Like Keane, cusack has divided opinion now,but like keane,as time passes hes views will be proven they had value in it unless things change.
He is Corks Voice of History, in both Success and Failure both On and Off The Field Of Play, the County Board should not be afraid of he's VISION FOR REAL CHANGE,they should Come Follow Him,Answer He's Call what he said with Cork Underage, and He Will Set Them Free,Free Of The Famine We Have Had And Continue To Painfully Endure At Minor,U21 And Senior .Cusack is waiting for hes name to be called out.
Cusack is and was that Voice in the Wind and Pouring rain off the field like he was on the field in the rain drenced All Ireland Final in 1999,going all over Cork and the Country in hail, rain or snow coaching young players, promoting the greatest ameuateur game in the world imo,and now he is that same Voice of Hunger and Pain. He has the Hunger to want more for Cork GAA,and the Pain to see Cork Hurling,Once Upon A Time A Long Long Long Tine In Being Such A Great Force become a such Minnow At Practically All Levels In The Modern Game Bar Intermediate Hurling,Our One Shining Light Through The Darkness Of Cork Hurling.
He is that same Voice, always calling and demanding Cork GAA for better standards,he is the Voice that will always remain calling it what is in Cork,he is the Voice now in the fields helping Cloyne last saturday,a playing for them outstanding well, and today and coaching them ,now when the summer is gone and now the dance of the leaves when the autumn winds blow, never will he allow he's vision of a better Cork go to sleep throughout all the cold winter long as like a player when he on Timmy Macs farm in the winter had the pain of 2003 or when he ran on Xmas day 2003 with Sean Og Halpin driving him on for 2004 glory,he is the force in spring time that will grow ,in when the league starts,he will still demand better for Cork in hes newspapers articles and also do everything he can with diarmuid falvey to have cloyne or any team hes involved with getting in the best possible shape for the upcoming championship.
Cusack is the Voice of the past, that Will Always Be.
The past of strikes Haunts Him in he won't want any Cork GAA player to have fight so hard Off The Field for a Better Future On the Field, the Voice of the Past that will always be in ,He has a winning Mentailty as a Player in past Minor, Intermediate,U 21 Senior,All Ireland, that Real Vibrant Progressive Voice of a Past Winning Mentailtly will always be.
He was the Voice of the Past that will always be filled with hes Sorrow and Blood in hes fields, the Sorrow of loosing county finals with Cloyne, the heartbreak of loosing The Three In A Row with Cork, the Battles with the County Board, the Blood that he spilled on the field in the Heat Of Battle for Cloyne,Imokilly,Muns ter,and Cork Teams, and in countless Charity games, all for the True Uncherished love of Hurling and In Particular Above All The Rest, HE'S lOVE FOR all things Cork Hurling shown by hes support og the Camoige ,at The End Of The Day.
He is that same Voice of Corks Hurling Future, bring him your Peace Frank Murphy and Bob Ryan, go against your views Bob that while you serve Any Office in Cork you will decline a reply to Cusacks questions, bring him your Peace,do better for Cork GAA in your role in Cork GAA and as he said that Friday he's wounds will then Heal and he will shake Bob's and Franks hand as he said he would have no problem doing. Donal Og Cusack is imo the Voice That Truly Cork GAA Craves for and has for such a Long ,Long Time Now,in he is the Voice Of Corks GAA Hunger and Pain both in the Past and Now Very Much In The Future Of Cork Hurling.
Donal Og Cusack is the Voice that should be in the Future OF Cork Hurling, The Director Of Hurling In Cork,The voice Cork Hurling craves for,and thankfully hes voice will never remain quiet in whatever darkness follows cork hurling .
Some day I Hope, the Top Table In Cork Answer that Voice,But Even If They Just Listened(he may not be liked by some ,viewed as divisive etc,but no one can deny the Truths in the Bare Facts in what he said,) To That Voice For Now,It Would Be At Least Very Much A Start to Resolving Cork's Hurling's Problems imo.
Pigs will fly first though unfortunately,as that county board meeting once again defined the remarkable consistence arrorgance and illlogical views they have on cork hurling and denial to corks hurling problems, the sheer undemomactic view to debate them by the county board, and the sheer defiance to sail Cork Hurling and football ships ,through stormy waters,as they think Cork Gaa is Unsinkable, despite numerous warnings of icebergs lying ahead. We all know what happened the Titanic.
It sank but never recovered.Cork Hurling and football is ,im deeply deeply saddened to say, heading that way imo. One football all ireland every twenty years for a county like cork ,lets cut the crap, lets be honest is horrendous and guys like ciaran sullivan, colin corkery, joe kavanagh, etc great,i mean great great players never winning an all ireland is a dissaster, and many more current players will follow suit unless things change fast.Cork gaa failed these players imo.
Bob ryan is a politican ,but at least people have the democratic right to vote him out of power on election day if they choose
Cork gaa people dont have that same privelge though where every single vote has power in electing men at the top level.Cork gaa is controlled by a minority of key figures, people at grassroots have little if indeed any influence in important decisions in Cork GAA.
Its 16 years, from 1903 to 1919,longest senior famine ever by cork in Hurling, going on 1o years now that 16 years doesnt seem too far away at all,in fact its too close for comfort imo.
Since the last long barren 12 year lapse of 54 to 66,we are entering very close to that famine at senior hurling ,going on ten years now, very unlikely imo to win the all ireland next year,we will be competive though but that could be as good it gets.0 -

Since the last long barren 12 year lapse of 54 to 66,we are entering very close to that famine at senior hurling ,going on ten years now, very unlikely imo to win the all ireland next year,we will be competive though but that could be as good it gets.
God Almighty that's some spiel, there's a poet in you somewhere TTM
And a lot of truth as well0 -
Thanks b and b
I'm no poet though
Words song were not mine, it's the album from the song voice, Emiear Quinn sang it.
I just done interraption of it correlated to Cusacks what I think in it words relate imo to what cusack could bring to cork hurling

Football have no a hope of winning more than three games, relegation ominous imo.
Cork gaa must ask questions ground grassroots fan craving for
Brian what's mininium expectaions league.
If we get relegated do you see it as dissaster.
He won't be asked
Hell come out with load bluff pr spiel well do best league, no stone unturned, not be end all, we see where it takes us at end of it and wait for it he's famous line well review it then as a whole.
The rubbish and utter nonense regards cussen may be cork answer to donaghy, is some drivel of highest order imo.
Some say he will lord skies, he has power, 6 seven,he's Unmarkable.
Christ a reality check.
Listened to Joel schmidt, yesterday he asked but Payne and henhsaw lack of bulk, made one great point, not alway bout size, more importantly will of player inside, and I totally agree, that make or break a player, look at Anthony lynch, paddy Kelly, Gooch,Tommy O walsh, and Richie Hogan, great, i mean great really really great players small but christ hallelujah sweet heavenly jesus, heart of a lion, the courage of a gladiator braveheart Spanish matador.
Brian o driscoll, roy keane were dismissed over size, but balls I means balls now real real, I mean real balls of steel they had.
Cussen has height but no steel, no will, no warrior dogdness in heat battle on the field proven time and again two different hurling campaigns, football also in which he was dropped, big games for sarsfields out comfort zone in munster for a man that has hurling football skill he's no inner resolve going get tough, and moran, kavanagh, mccauley, magee. Lynch, Griffin who ever marks him will limit him and dominate the match ups.
Cuthbhert going back long ball type, doesn't realise donaghy made it work as not just big and tall , but feet ballerina, intelligence mastermind footballers, work rate of a Horse, the Hunger of a wolves, but sublime natural football skills.
He being basket ball player like liam mcchale proves he'd movement and feet are magnificent, telphatic cohesion symmetry of beautiful artistic, poetry in movement imo.
Cussen hasn't this.
Cork tried make to make aidan walsh and. Nicholas Murphy target men, both better cussen but walsh failed as didn't have spacial awareness in confined aera and lacked finishing skill, Nicholas the same.
O shea tried it mayo failed.
All fine footballer but lacking craft donaghy made it worked as Donaghy had scoring and guile and natural finesse you couldn't stand him off wait breaking ball, you had to mark him, walsh Murphy you could allow win ball as too slow to offload and got boxed in, easy turnover.
Donaghy was so much more very hard to contain.
Cussen doesn't even com close to him and is even milies of walsh and Nicholas Murphy yet some can't see this won't work.
Cussen is here to stay, not just trial hell be gone.We will hear usual nonense like dualism we review it every few weeks, but it will go on as they will see he making an input in a piss poor mcgrath cup.
Also cussen and this is not hes fault at all, getting lot injury in he's career so risk there also will he get many game time. If cork teams want power, and strength, development dan maceoin ,strong, great air, movement must be developed but better cussen and unlikely cussen can score long distance or goals, ace free taker, look goal last year v roscommon by a blinder of a free,he has some left peg on him.
He is worth development now as young, natural full forward, cussen has been around before, too many flaws at intercounty and imo huge step backward for cork football when going with maceoin who on panel extended last year would be huge step forward.
Cussen may play for sarsfields weekend, could destroy loughin as I hear he is not great but if Gavin o mahony or unlikely Paudie o brien dropped back on him while form both been patchy at times imo would have too much cussen in club hurling Sunday in Killmallock I agree imo.
You don't pick guy just as he has certain quality, when its not proven in elite level.
Munster rugby in centres are prime example, picked will chambers on basis good seven background and aussie blood, same Andrew Smith, Ireland picked Michael bent,Rodney ah ou as sub for weekend as all black blood. Andy ward back in the day we craved for a openside as he had all black blood,Brian smith aussie outhalf that was another Danny ciprani all hair oil no socks, flash and sublime but couldn't do hes basic role kick a ball or game manage but he certainly was able to talk bout doing it, Kurt mckulkin centre back in the day, list I's endless where they picked on being southern hemisphere players in hope bringing southern hemisphere rugby qualities without failing realise were poor players if any good would done better at home yes all fine at club or certain level, but not elite level.I have no problem picking southern hemisphere if better what we have already.
Same cussen ie he's being picked in pure hope he's height may bring cork something without realisation he's record proved time and time again he won't do it at intercounty or v intercounty opponents imo.
Lot people I spoke to, very dillsioned with recall see this as not forward planning just like Andrew sullivan, john Hayes recall was.0 -
Eoin Cadogen opts for football. Having a brother on the football will hopefully not encourage Alan to change sides.0

That might keep the Cuthbert knockers quiet for a bit0 -

I'd reckon he would get on the hurling team if he wanted he's better than cahalane anyway.
I'd have to disagree. His first spell in full back for Cork was a disaster, especially underneath the high ball. I could see the likes of Dowling, Callanan, Power who can field a ball having a field day on him.
If playing it would have to be in the half back line IMO and I don't think he gets anywhere near some of the other contenders there.
That's all a bit of a moot point at this stage though I guess. I do think its the best decision for Cork GAA overall as he's vital to the footballers.0 -

yes from the football management. cadogan went with football because he wont get a start or gametime with JBM, well known in cork. huge boost to Cuthbert in particular and cork football in general0 -
Its good to get some positive news for Cork football ....like it or not we are where we are sad to say its this manager now for the new season ...Alan Cadogan and Damien Cahalane will be hurling for sure id say .....0

Dean Ryan cup final next Friday v templemore in Cashel 1.30 I think, won final in Cashel last year.
Thurles it's good there beaten, templemore good but id fear Thurles more but I think noel mcgrath younger brother with them and main man but jack mcdonnell outstanding today and harty Wednesday should be able do a man marking role on him.
Great game the midelton charville one, closer than score reflects , mcdonnell, mcconville, ed leahy, gosnell, crotty, twomey immense on a fine midelton team and geary, Doyle, pj herr, guiney, Fitzgerald great for charville.
As for cork hurling landers it seems is in the fray but credit jbm asked pat mulchay but I'm hugely surprised he could not commit to it
Landers originally declined also as wanted stay minors, but looks like take it now
Teddy mac has cork 21 job with same selectors next year apparently
Pat Ryan was offered it credit due ccb going for him but declined
But still got be better Candidates than teddy
I hope the job isn't seen as poisoned chalice just cause we had six poor years under poor management
Reality is and I said it was saving grace for football was cadogan wasn't first choice for jbm and correctly so imo reason cadogan stayed football knew with Ellis, lorchan, joyce, cormack Murphy he would struggle get games as correctly so jbm doesn't rate him as hurlers pity he played on panel last year as Jamie nagle better option
Now I hope nagle gets a call
Good for football but it's hardly vote extreme confidence imo as more he wasn't guaranteed hurling but was football.
The knockers solwhit, would you get in touch reality, people real real gaa fans every right questions him and management after season we had
Cork football means lot more than hammering to kerry in cork
Fair play, though, go with flow, don't be realistic, see where that go cork football, any wonder we just have seven senior all Ireland football titles
24 started on panel approx but up 30 next few weeks cork minor hurling
Meant to post this last week
Core group is
Kenneally dalton keepers
Looney beausang, smith, Griffin, mahony, Murphy. English, kingston hennessey halloran, cahill Chris o leary, dunne, butty mccarthy, dan gunning all involved
I think john cashman made it
Robbie o flynn
Conor cahalane I think also
Shane walsh dan landers not make it for now
Sullivan Douglas didn't
Shows how tough it's to break in to it as their brilliant hurlers
Likely to change as times goes on.
Charville and midelton credit to cork hurling today.
David Jones huge loss for charville today0 -
CORKDOUBLE wrote: »Its good to get some positive news for Cork football ....like it or not we are where we are sad to say its this manager now for the new season ...Alan Cadogan and Damien Cahalane will be hurling for sure id say .....
Alan cadogan will be hurling for sure but I still don't know about Damien Cahalane. I'd say there is still a good possibly that he'll chose football even though hurling would be the better option for him0 -
TTM first of all I would like to say that greatly enjoying reading your posts and find them insightful and respect your commentary and accurate analysis.
Now there is just one thing I don't understand and maybe you can clarify this for me. I read your posts on the Harty Cup prior to the last round of fixtures and I felt you got it correct when you called for Eddie Gunning to pick up Nash and Adam Donovan to pick up Cosgrave. This is what the AG did, yet you are stating they got their match ups wrong. I'm a bit list here?
Adam O'D picked up Cosgrave from the start and IMO came out second best, he was too loose. Eddie G pushed out on Nash after 12/15 mins and played the rest of the game at Centre Back, but you have stated he played midfield, this is not correct.
This is my second time seeing the AG this year and I agree they need to learn from Wednesday. One thing I noticed is that Castletroy were far more cynical than the AG and played far more on the edge. LeTouche could have walked for two yellows. The AG are too nice
Great to see Donal O'Grady there and he is doing a bit if coaching with the team, the AG management must be credited for that.
The AG can make the QF but only if they get a better return from their HF line against Doon. Dayne Lee is a great talent but it strikes me that the management don't know where they can get the most out of him.0 -

I had pleasure and privelge read Barry o Donovan splendid piece in the echo tonight on how aidan walsh colossus loss football and how. More or less poor coaching in ned English eyes failed him in getting him reach he's potential in they didn't get a role best suits he's talents
Didn't name them but sure has be Counihan and cuthbhert only two worked with.
Shame no link to Donovan articles, writing top intelligent football pieces.
Top top journalist to be fair.
He did not say it straight out but you can sense he's concerns with football as said doubts about where when things get better from.
You can sense frustrating view imo he has and my opinion is he's holding back on being more cut throat but made superb point
He said I quote"
There are larger questions for cork football out of this, about its development of young players from 21 to senior and the struggle to activately improve their elite players through coaching and tactical work "
Amen Barry, amen and thank you so much so very very much for touching on point others fail to or simply just choose not to highlight regards cork football.
He didn't name coaches but look at 21s from 2009 upwards etc, those u21 talents have not developed due poor tactics under Counihan, No tactics at all imo under current set up bar fancy and footloose football and unlike kerry as I said Many times last year develop their lad's, our stay static all because they do tactics and good coaching, we have had no tactical mastermind since Morgan and for all couninhan flaws Least team had character spirit. Immense Credit to conor for that but currently the current management have imo failed install tactics, good coaching or good team spirit etc
Key is good coaching.
Watched young alwuyn kearney with midelton had boys doing warm up drills before game , tempo I sadly didn't see in cork football
Kearney is good young coach current player and ruthless make two changes team today and won and imo will when finished playing make good coach
I have seen best and worst over time watching them meticulously to in training etc matches and it is easy compare and contrast the good from the poor coaches.
I see something in kearney hard to say what it is, call it instinct if you like but even at schools he stands out
Lot to learn like any young coach but imo when playing over has it if he wants it to be a good coach to work up the ranks
Walks sideline shrewdly observing a game , him collins good set up
Continously changing things in a game in nutshell, he can crucially read a game in flow like all great I mean great great coaches can do
Butler fine coach charville too
Again good coaches is the be and end all in modern elite sports
It's a special skillset, want and desire to be one is not enough you need so much more so much more.
Cadogan going football is great but it's imo between a rock and hard place, wasn't going get games hurling.
For me to say cuthbhert has performed good would be getting Alan go over but he won't imo.
Jbm I don't think will suffer too much for it
Cadogan probably get reardens club player year hurling, now and some says jbm treatment bad it wasn't, he simply had just one game club at senior up tipp, injury, and football couldn't play him,and in 2012 was poor for cork as figsy said
Remember bonner Maher cleaned him out in air and physical stakes in 2012 he's strongest parts of the game.
Dublin have their backroom team and surprisingly it's made up two dubs, furlong coughlan he had in mind
Dublin must not ratified it,as boland been over looked senior for ger board gave him role.
Dunne fine, continuity last year
You would think ger want he own team but having lost limerick job over wanting own men, he understandstbly didn't want risk that happening here I would guess
On that set up I'll be frank doesn't inspire me hugely, Ger,dunne be fine but other two there good but was better
Caroline currid good acquisition
I'm surprised by dublin.
I'm not sure boland being overlooked job,now in its second command is good idea
My optimism is dwindled a bit on dublin now
Will cunningham have full control!??
Cunningham didn't work with tj as he wanted own men in cusack, this is similar.
This is like boland clearly wanted job thoughy he was up it,now working guy got it ahead of him, just wonder is their conflict of interest there.
Cunningham is the only experienced successful intercounty coach there
Boland has success to a point but lost two all ireland finals at end of the day
Even the drive up to dublin and back be better cork man with him help transition etc
Disappointing imo, I'd say may be wrong but ger probably had to pick two local men, dublin may not been keen on four cork men
Two are successful in club hurling but but huge step up to intercounty.
Reardens 2014 team year
I think it is a great idea imo
Tough job for journalists
My team I'd pick hurling
Hickey glen They I think will go Kennedy as goal keeper
Defenders
David doolin minor cork sub v limerick superb debut year
Cadogan options slim at full back
Mcdonnell
I think they will pick will kearney, cadogan, Mcdonnell
Half backs
Eanna martin sarsfields
Brian moylan glen
Colm Lucey Douglas
I think gardiner, Ryan martin may get it
Midfield
Kearney sarsfields
Donal cronin glen
I think they both get it
Half forwards
Darren mccarthy
Padraig gould 25 now worth a look again coaching Ag mhuire u14 doing well I believe
Mark collins I'd give him not cork though better ahead him copper, harnedy etc
They may go mccarthy, Cian mac(scoreless play county final imo doesnt deserve it)
Collins
Full forward
First all they deserve huge credit not picking on reputation on pat horgan. Didn't nominated him on performance. good call. Credit due
Alan cadogan Douglas
Brian corry ballymartle
Mark o connor Douglas
They could go cadogan corry Tadhg og Murphy
Hurler year imo kearney, Eoin Cadogan get it imo though
Football my team
Gk martin Nemo
Lordan Ballincollig get it
Defenders
Ray Carey clyda
Shananan carbery
Galvin Ballincollig
Feel they may go that line
Half backs
Connor sullivan clyda
Steve o donoughue Ballincollig
Cian Kiely Ballincollig
They go hodnett carbery
O donoughue
Kiely
Midfield
Sean kiely Ballincollig
fitzpatrick carbery
Kissane get it with kiely I'd think they go with imo
Kissane had superb year but played in system I feel fitzpatrick better slightly individual and had titanic battle with kiely in the county final
Half forward
John o rourke carbery
Paddy Kelly Ballincollig
Miskella Ballincollig
They go with George durrant Ballincollig
Kelly Ballincollig
O rourke
Full forward
Cian dorgan Ballincollig
James masters Nemo
Sam oakes bishopstown
They go with dorgan
John Hayes carbery
Oakes
Hayes shouldn't get it as after 20 minutes county final poor imo man seven years inter county senior experience I expect more Cork biggest club game year.
I'm sorry now but reputation is nothing, on the day was poor
.
Club player year paddy Kelly
He will get it
Performed every single game and unlike john Hayes performed biggest game year need was greatest
A certainty will get it be like Brian Whelan ommission all star if over looked imo.
This is imo a certainty he will win it. Nobody deserves it more imo
A superb footballer that everbody cork agrees well maybee not everbody judging by this year.
I think reardens, journalists, etc deserve immense Credit for this great competition and credit where due Echo gave it great coverage tonight
Tough calls in some positions.
B and b I believe In most names you name for 21 job but no no no, simply no way should joun allen be anywhere near main man in management. Nice guy, Great people skills, superb masseuse, great mediator but absolutely woeful at tactics and for cork and limerick been exposed tactically time and again in big games
He's not ruthless enough imo.
I wouldn't want him as main man, part of a set up in defined role yes he is fine.
Schools fan gunning was at centre back but did play midfield in spells and should stayed there at centre
He was trying to put out fires all over place
Lee got three points, imo poor day overall but shows wonderful talent has, in he does that on a poor day
He needs to be central imo to play he needs to go 11 as Shane o connell limerick minor panel last year, think around third year at harty, will be central to doon he played half forward sweeper last year doon great in air, hurl both sides crisp delivery.
Lee should break even, limit him and gunning sheehan get ball inside can score
Also killan aherne must start also half forward line. Strong loads hurling made huge difference last day
Every management make mistakes but great really great ones learn from them
That one point defeat if lessons learned could be making Ag
Hopefully shrewd o grady will advise them what to do
Lordan and shorten have done fine Job to be fair with them
Barry Murphy and Colin Ryan two key men, Ryan lords air, gunning simply simply has to mark him
They can beat doon, but must work, work and play strengths
Schools fan I totally agree Ag too nice at times in fact most schools cork suffer that bar hammies who have real bite to play
Problem is refereeing in cork too soft blow everything's at schools club etc, in munster we don't get that
Just watch sarsfields v Kilmallock, be very tough, sars nice hurling have they evolved!?
Jerry Wallace complained years ago in newspapers was right cork referee too soft
Today Diarmuid Kirwan on both sides blew as if it was basket ball not hurling
Fergal horgan then tends let lot go
Refereeing in cork must change
Midelton could win dean Ryan. Brian mcgrath, noel brother won dean 2007,is colossus at centre back scored point ninety metres yes wind assisted v ennis earlier, played harty also key man.
Andy leahy should be able for him but carrying injury
Key he's fit
If needs be could but jack mcdonnell at 11 played half forward for midelton harty Wednesday
Yes you loose at centre back but if him and mcgrath cancel each other out, it's job well done in imo midelton have better balance where mcgrath absolutely central I hear.
Ed leahy outstanding today could move out corner and play six with aron walsh Barry last year rice winning captain capable doing job in corner if needs be.
Big game for debut yes but at corner he's be fine just got be solid not necessarily spectacular.
Midelton this group are as far I'm aware unbeaten up ranks or at most just lost one game
There balance strength, pace,Guile etc
Win or loose they will do cork hurling proud.
Their slowly building an empire in school Harty cup just matter time
.
So far in harty and dean been excellent for cork hurling.
I think we may get five cork teams in knock out, it would be astonishing memorising brilliant if so five from seven, where in truth maximum was only ever six as three cork teams in one group
Could be five cork, two limerick with one tipp possibly maybe three limerick in the Quater finals it could change though.0
