The indo is a disgrace of a government rage. I won't stand over anything they promote.
cant figure out what you mean, im politically neutral, have voted for fg ,ff, labour and sf politicians depending on knowing them even though id find it hard to vote in a fg lab combination anymore, they all crucify anyone other than the bankers etc you know the rant.so i buy both indo and fj if im in shop the day farming indo is out or fj for that matter. imo i generally find recently that fj is only catching up to some farming matters.

What you want to do sometime is put one through the ring and see what highest bid you can get but don't sell.

Book into factory and then sit back and compare. Hopefully you won't be cursing yourself

Don't go trying it the other way around though. ... it won't work :D

theres one flaw i see with that idea and that is that the cattle will be after losing weight from what they were in the ring so that would want to be taken into account after hanging up

I think if prices are about to lift some bit, then you are better off selling in the mart. Dealers always seem to be 'ahead of the curve' when it comes to factory prices.

i find the indo straighter than the fj most of the time but i don't pass much remarks on the mart v factory section as the lad that writes it us involved in athenry mart so would bias towards mart sale naturally Imo.

i find when ya go looking for the factory price quoted in fj, ya can often be disappointed.

I find the Indo factory price much more accurate than the FJ The Journals price returns were often at variance to there reported prices. There stance on soft sellers etc was insulting and I often think that there price reports were from people the factory's kept happy.

In general I have seldom seen cattle make more in the mart than in the factory unless the same cattle kill about 5% less than normal. However at time if you have out of spec stock you may work out as well. Recently talking to a lad with a LM stock bull. He was over a ton liveweight and he made over 1650 after deductions. hard to see him make over 1.5/kg in the mart. Previously this lad used to take a day off to sell in the mart never again.

Sorry Rob, but have to disagree with you there, Factories between vet fees, Bord Bia levy, insurance, their deductions have always been a min of 26 euros on my dockets, and I have taken cattle to the ring last week instead of giving to factories and as reported in yesterdays farming indo, northern buyers desperate to buy (nomad cattle situation seems to be irrelevant to them as they run out of cattle) and that's before the clipping charges they invent this time of year, so mart commission is comparable to factories imo

In general deductions are in the order of about 12 euro for cattle under 48 months includind EIF. Cows are different there is a higher insurance butnot sure of the amount as i have never killed same. In last few years have never benn charge clippage. Mart comission to seller in now in the order of 20 euro ish so if EIF is stopped 10 euro difference. Cows, heifers and bulls over 2 years also have to be blood tested including vet call out over a bunch of ten it is equivlent to 8/head.

Liffey meats are usually 5 cent behind Keepak, so I would read it as no change

Athleague. Always go in the morning. Heard a few people saying that they kill better when not left there the night before. Have never really had any issues with grading there to be fair

Heard that if cattle are stressed their meat will become darker thus
infringing on the price you receive for your livestock.

Have thought they are usually at parity; also have to take into account deductions for overage plus overweight limits etc.

Anyone see how much dairy heifer calves are going for at the minute? Asking here as beef lads would be in the mart more.. Thanks
