How do I get this working?

Only getting offered a 30 day trial.

  • Registered Users Posts: 904 ✭✭✭styron

Using that license key during installation gives an expiry date of 26th Feb 2018 when you verify it by clicking support on the program home page.

edit: It's AVG Internet Security 2015.

    Thanks op.

I wasn't sure either but I downloaded the free one. It updated the current program. I had to restart when asked, when it restarted it said it was a 30 day trial.
On the left side about half way down there's a link to use a licence key. I just copied and pasted. Job done.

Assume that key can only work for one user?

    It worked for me.
It had a default key at the installation, but I just edited it to the one here.

Let's hope it doesn't slow my laptop down.

    Works with me

Nice one OP, thanks. My AVG subscription ( that I also got free on here three years ago) had just expired two weeks ago.

This can't be legit...if you google the key then there's postings of it from 2013.

Installing this on a HP Pavillion just have me blue screen od!

Can't update the software using this key. Keep getting an error saying a .bin file is missing. This happened when I upgraded my free license using this key and also from a fresh install using this key.

    Anyone else having this issue?

If this is a torrent code/licence you will have problems later ;)or so I am lead to believe.

Why may I ask ? If there genuinely could be problems I would just delete and go back to a free version of AVG or Avast.

If your laptop is overheating due to an AV program then there is something seriously wrong.

Heres how well Defender works against a small sample of malware in the wild http://www.av-test.org/en/?avtest%5Breport%5D=6287 I must say its the first time I've seen 0 out of 6 from avtest.

Sounds more like your fan needs cleaning than an antivirus being at fault

Yeah I had an old laptop that was always overheating. Gave it to a relative and turned out it just needed a clean out of dust that had accumulated.
