Just picked up a 2100amh USB charger. Phone charges really fast. With a battery this powerful combined with a charger this good who needs the speed charging functions of the likes of iphone?!!

Yeah I'm on XP too and had to manually install drivers. I'll PM you...

I am running Windows 7 Blade. Any idea if I will need to load the drivers manually?

Should do it itself the first time you plug in, use the red cable that comes in the box, it took about 10 minutes on mine to install, longest driver search I ever had. The phone will show up as a media device.

you can install gosms pro now and it has the function to save everything to dropbox * install onto the htc if you still have it. then install it onto the opo and restore them from dropbox and voila.
I have no idea about the other way but thats the way I back up all my messages. * takes an age though if you have loads of texts.

Thanks for the help. Ended up getting it all sorted with some creative use of Bluetooth and a 3rd phone since the HTC wouldn't connect to the OPO for some reason.

Is there not a worry it might catch fire of its more than it can take power wise?

No idea about Windows 7, I had no problem with the phone showing up as a media device as it was picked up automatically, but as soon as I turned on USB debugging it wouldn't show up. So had to install USB/OTG drivers for XP to communicate in that mode for rooting. Might all be automatic for Win7, don't know.

I've used my HP Touchpad charger as a spare charger and it charges at least as fast as the original charger.

App wise, Amazon are giving out £100 of free apps at the moment. Sonic and Office Suite Pro are the stand out apps. Just download he Amazon App Store and work away.

Just to confirm (as no one has mentioned it here yet) that the Micro USB port on the OPO does work as a full OTG port. I connected a 32GB USB stick and even a wireless mouse and keyboard on it and all worked perfectly. I got 3 different adapters to test and I found this one the best of them. Can also highly recommend the seller too, they arrived pretty quickly for China. That listing is for 2 pieces, it's always handy to have a spare and in case one doesn't work, only a Euro each.

AdAway works great for that. Texdroider DPI to lower the DPI to make the icons smaller and fit more on your screen. The Nova launcher which doesn't require root lets you set the grid sizes for different screens. I lowered the DPI to 420 on mine. Rooting lets you do full backups which include all user data for each app, plus you can get rid of any unwanted Google bloatware. I got rid of all the google books/movies etc. Without root you can't backup user data.

I am very interested about the back up option, my OPO is rooted, what's the best way to back up user data? cheers

What would you use that cable for Blade? Transferring files from a USB key springs to mind but what else?

I used to have a cable http://www.amazon.com/MHL-Adapter-Smartphones-Tablets-Compact/dp/B00KPXI4S2/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1411846845&sr=1-3-fkmr0&keywords=icro+USB+to+HDMI+MHL+Adapter which allowed my Note 2 to be connected to a TV and output the screen and sound to the TV. I must dig it out and see if it will work with the OPO.

Well there's a few different ways depending on what exactly you want backed up.

You can do a full backup of absolutely everything on your phone including the OS, system files, photos, apps, user data, texts, everything! An exact mirror image, by doing a NANDroid backup through CWM or TWRP, one of which you will probably already have installed if you rooted the phone:
    http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/what-is-a-nandroid-backup-and-how-exactly-does-it-work/

If you just want to backup apps and user data the easiest way is probably through ES File Explorer. You'll need to change a couple of settings in this app, one to give it root access and two to tell it to backup user data with the apps. When you backup an app then all the user data will be included in the single .apk file it extracted. So for example if I sent you one of these .apk files from my phone, you could sideload that app as normal but all my user data/settings etc will be there too.

Titanium Backup is a more powerful but at the same time a more complicated tool. This app is great for batch jobs and automated backups etc. You can backup and uninstall system apps or bloatware, until you're happy that you didn't uninstall something you shouldn't have and that the system still works, then you can wipe them off the phone completely if you want. Some of the system apps are dependant on others to work, so you have to have a backup first.

Transferring large files with a USB stick yes, but smaller files you'd probably be quicker using Dropbox. Simply just reading from it too, I've lots of stuff on USB sticks including TV recordings from the Sat decoder. A lot of phones you have to open up to take out the SD card, so this can be even handier in that regard. Backing up your phone data directly to a USB stick wouldn't be a bad idea either.

You can connect pretty much any wired or wireless USB Peripheral in theory, if some device doesn't work natively, Android drivers can be written to make it work, so we should see more compatibility and devices in the future.

While a lot of things might seem pointless to us, there's always people who will make good use out of something. For example connecting a wireless mouse, why the hell would anyone want to do that? Well take your HDMI cable there and connect it to your TV (or do it wirelessly), with a wireless mouse or controller you effectively turn it into a TV box.

With a card reader photographers/journalists can take the card out of their camera and instantly upload content to the cloud or back to their office etc.

Anyway, USB sticks, Card readers, Powered hard drives, game controllers, headphones/ professional microphones, mice / keyboards, midi keyboards!, USB hubs, USB to Ethernet adapters?...

I have a professional sound recorder here that can be connected to a PC by USB as a mic and I'm hoping to connect it to the OPO and use it instead of the phone's mic for better sound in video recordings. However I think that might be a problem because of the lack of native USB audio support in Android at least for the moment.

Very heavy usage all day today with brightness up full. Downloading apps listening to music etc and battery went on charge at 8% around the 6.30pm mark. Having taken it off charge at 8am this morning. Great usage from that.

Stuck it on charge with my new charger at 18.30. 19.10 it was at 81%. Gotta love it.

    That's exactly what it is!

I quite like this cyanogen but all the icons are very clunky or fat or something. Anyway to change this?

You might want to have a go at the "resize" option in an image editor. :)

Ive been trawling themes different thems for the best part of the last hour.

Im starting to like this phone more and more and slowly but surely my nexus 4 is getting smaller!

Can anyone tell me is there an app for adjusting the notification volumes, even the lowest setting is to loud for me, especially on a sunday morning. My nexus goes much more muted and the increments arent as big a step up in volume.

My scrolling isn't as smooth as nexus 5, also it clicks onto another page when in scrolling. Is this the same issue? Not fixed for me anyway.

Scroll and touch seem good and comparable to my old HTC M7, problem I have is if I'm trying to pinch and zoom or any time i have two fingers touching the screen, it just jumps around mad. Tried to zoom in slightly I'm maps and it jumped to an extreme zoom in of some place in Russia.

Guys, read on another site that this phone will only use VF and O2 4G in the UK...is it the same here? Was thinking of getting this phone and using emobiles SIM only deal.
EDIT-From reading through this whole thread, it seems 4G works on Three and Meteor. I know emobile use Meteor network but can anyone say for definite that this phone works on emobiles 4G SIM only plan?
