Hi guys. Totally new to android (iPhone for the last 5 years). Making the change over and after a lot of research I'm really looking to the OnePlusOne (had been looking at HTC One M8 and Z3).

For anyone that has the handset what are the best/worst things about it? There doesn't seem to be any major problems with it as of yet. Am I right? Is it really as good as it sounds? Last but not least how difficult is it to get an invite to purchase one?

EDIT: Can anyone shed some light onto how it is priced so low? Surely it can't be due to the lack of a massive marketing budget?

Very nice phone, the performance is amazing as it's very fast and it opens all the apps/websites quickly. The hardware is very solid (well it didn't bend in my pocket ;) ), screen has a very good resolution, the software is amazing as everything is customizable, 64 GB is a plus.
If I had to change 1 thing in this phone it would be the size, 5 inch would have been better in my opinion but I am getting used to the 5.5 screen and anyway it will become the norm soon as Samsung will follow Apple and will launch a 5.5 and then all the others will do the same.
The biggest advantage is the price.
Overall I will give it a 9/10 as it does everything I need, the big question now is about the durability of the phone and as of yet nobody can say if this phone will last for a long time but we will see.

I would agree with all of the above. My one criticism is the size of the phone.I have it since July and got used of it within a week or two but I would still prefer a slightly small size.
Other than that I have no complaints.

You do know Samsung launched the whole Phablet market with the Note which came with a 5.5 inch screen three years ago!!

Yep I am well aware about it, I should have rephrased my sentence, I meant to say that most phone manufacturers follow Apple as they are seen as the leaders when it comes to design and features, they are the fashion and I believe that we will see a lot of 5.5 inches phones next year, and Samsung will make their S6??!! a 5.5 from now on, just my prediction :D.

I was thinking phones were getting bigger and bigger for the last couple of years and all the Chinese manufacturers rushed into 5.5" models in the last 12 months but then it kind of settled back to 5.0 inches and that seems to be the preffered size now. 5.5" is my ideal though as I consume most of my media that way these days but I find tablets annoying.

    Disaster.....
The missus dropped her phone getting out the car, screen smashed to a million pieces, that was with a tempered glass screen and a half decent cover, she was devastated so I grabbed her one on adverts...
I bought the phones on lenteen so not sure where that leaves me.
Spotted a replacement screen for 100 online, might give that a go.
    Really nervous about mine now.
I have never seen gorilla glass shatter like this, worrying...

Oh yeah I keep forgetting to ask, is it safe to update now with regard to those battery issues? I upgraded to -25 when I took it out of the box and have been dismissing all the other OTA updates since...

I'm sticking with 25R rooted at the moment. I know the next update was the one that drained the battery big time and the following one they reduced that drain but I believe it's still not as good as it was on 25R. For me the Idle drain is more important as I don't use the phone much and I typically get an average of 2.5 days with around 5 hours screen on. Overnight I'd only lose a couple of % battery when idle. So I'm reluctant to fix what ain't broken unless a new update can convince me otherwise. There are people on forums who've been monitoring the battery drains over the various updates using 'battery monitor widget', so I'd want to see what they say before doing anything.

I am experiencing issues with the touch sensitiviy since I got the phoen over a month ago. I never tought much of it but over time it has become quite annoying, particularly when typing as it often doesnt recognise that i have selected a letter.

After furtehr research online, I have realised that this is a common issue. Does anyone have this issue and does anybody know when we can expect a firmware update which with address and resolve this issue?

    Thanks

I'm curious what cover exactly was on it? I think it was daytob here who said he dropped his phone a few times and the bumper cover he has protected it. I'm getting the feeling that the rubber bumper covers protect it a lot better than any flip type cover.

So much for the tempered glass protection! Did that shatter too?

SO in regards to rooting this, what are the best reasons? One I noticed is a universal ad blocker which I like, anything else you all would recommend?

AdAway works great for that. Texdroider DPI to lower the DPI to make the icons smaller and fit more on your screen. The Nova launcher which doesn't require root lets you set the grid sizes for different screens. I lowered the DPI to 420 on mine. Rooting lets you do full backups which include all user data for each app, plus you can get rid of any unwanted Google bloatware. I got rid of all the google books/movies etc. Without root you can't backup user data.

Guys just a quick question. I'm setting up my one plus one here now and I'm trying to get my contacts in the people app to sync with Facebook so I can get peoples photos beside their names and any email address etc that they provide extra on Facebook.
I can't seem to get it to work and sync together. Have any of you found the same and is there a way to get them to sync ?

Other than that I'm loving the phone :)

I'm not sure if the rooted ad blocker is better but I'm using AdBlocker Plus with my unrooted OPO and all ads are blocked. Haven't had an issue with it so far.

Oh really I didn't know you could get one unrooted. Does it block ads in apps too?

I've had it for a few days now. I can't even remember what apps had ads in it. But going through my apps now I can't find any ads. Google chrome was full of them and are completely gone.

You know an app with ads in it? I'll download it if I don't have it and confirm.

Hey guys, just got the phone today and really liking it so far. I've a quick question though if any of you could help me out.

I've downloaded SMS Backup & Restore for the OPO and I'm looking to transfer messages over from my old HTC Desire. The only problem is I can't find the SMSBackup folder on the OPO when the phone is connected as a USB device to my laptop. Am I missing something really obvious or do I need to root the phone to get access to the folder?

My thanks and apologies in advance if it's already been asked.

you can install gosms pro now and it has the function to save everything to dropbox * install onto the htc if you still have it. then install it onto the opo and restore them from dropbox and voila.
I have no idea about the other way but thats the way I back up all my messages. * takes an age though if you have loads of texts.
