Is the Irish Independent the most right wing paper in the country?

It seems that the Irish independent has a very conservative, right wing and anti immigrant agenda. The paper dedicates a disproportionate amount of coverage to immigrants and it's one of the few publications that feels the need to consistently state whether the accused or perpetrator is foreign national or not in any article. The comments section on the independent is something to behold. Look at the comments on this article for example http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/news/dublin-dad-elected-as-mayor-of-tripoli-in-libya-30492455.html#sthash.YQxJ6vjI

the paper was also very pro Israeli and even today had a headline about a 10 year old Palestinian being shot dead with a picture of an unrelated Palestinian child carrying a fake rifle with a Hamas headband.

    What are people's opinions?

    Best horoscopes in the country!

I've only started reading Alive! recently since a poster on here was advertising it, and it is great!

It's pretty right-leaning in places yeh - mad for entrepreneurs, hates public sector/semi-states, Sir Tony is mad for the Israeli government, anti nationalism (in relation to N.I.) and flogged a pro Bush administration agenda back in the day. The first two... I don't know that they are right-wing ideologies in and of themselves, but they do tend to be embraced by blindly right-wing people. John Waters now writes for it.

Don't know about it being the most right-wing paper in the country though.

It would seem that people have certain standards for papers
    - does it agree with my world view, implies a true and trusted media outlet of the highest calibre
    - if not, a rag.

Given how much in editions past the Independent had raillied against certain sections of the institutions of the state, to call it conservative might be a stretch.

I don't know about "most right wing", it just seems like a very unreliable paper with poor quality journalism. A lot of news stories with key details left out, and in some cases just lies (eg. the rabbit who wasn't really dead, which begs the question; why was there a story about a rabbit in the first place?)

The Indo is just a rag, plain and simple.

A couple of weeks ago they ran an opinion piece about so-called "creepshots" and the blatant objectification of random women on various websites, while simultanously running at least 4 other articles which were entirely about the bra-state and and visibility of Kim Kardashian's breasts.

Alive magazine. Would have thought this would have been fairly obvious. Independent is a bag of shyte. It's not the most right wing though.

    Sigh.

What about the message inside!? Then it might be considered to be a thing that invigorates the mind of living things? :)

Would that not be considered to be Alive! in a sense?

Alive! is left-wing, surely? It is in favour of state-control, or common ownership, over a woman's body rather than that individual's choice.

Authoritarianism exist on both sides of the spectrum.

Its a rag but its not right wing or pro Israel. In fact the Israeli embassy press chief sent in a letter to the editor accusing them and all other Irish media of having a sheer hatred for Israel.

Then again the Israeli embassy staff are extreme right wing nutjobs.
    Hatred behind criticism

It needs to be asked why people never get emotional and righteousness about other conflicts in the world, only whenever a conflict involves Israel. Over the past three years hundreds of thousands of Muslims Arabs have been killed by other Muslim Arabs and the ancient Christian communities in the Arab world have been systematically destroyed. Yet the letters pages of Irish newspapers have been empty about all that.

Also, thousands of Palestinians have been killed in Syria in recent years, yet nothing has been said about that either. One can only conclude that such people have only one motive: sheer hatred of Israel.

Wouldn't you think a diplomat would actually write like an adult instead of a whingey teenager.
