Sheff Utd are league 1 debatable if they are step up.

Sk brann offered 100k for Fagan according to the sun.

League one is a far better League than the LOI.

League 2 at a push, Conference would be our level,

He would be on better money for starters, training in better facilities and playing in better grounds against better players.

    Sad but true

The better teams in LOI would be challenging in or about the play offs in League 1. The likes of Athlone/UCD/Bray would probably be conference level alright.

If CCFC were in England with the current squad I would put them as abottom half LOI side.

Doubt Dover Athletic or Altrincham could have gone to Hajduk Split, Rosenberg or Warsaw and gave them a decent game. I'd definitely say the top half of our league is on a par with league one. Went to MK Dons V Drogheda a couple of weeks ago and there wasn't much of a difference between the sides with regards to strength or physicality (a game which Drogheda won actually)

You really think conference sides would be in any way competitive in Europe?

Friendlies mean f-all Bohs beat a full strength Spurs squad in 03 yet got thumped in Europe that same year, play those teams in a competitive game each week and you will see the difference.

The European argument is quite poor too, Lower league teams hold their own in the FA Cup. all our teams are out of Europe and it ain't even August yet.

A few years back the argument was there for League 1 top half, not anymore.

You seem to think LOI teams are? Dundalk lost 2-0 at home and had a decent game (1 GAME) against the croats, you really think Dundalk would put a dent in the Croatian league as a result? do you honestly think Sligo, UCD, Bohs, Cork, Limerick, Bray, Derry, drogheda, Athlone are all better than the conference?

you really think Sligo and Cork are that bad, considering Sligo are one of the most successful clubs over the last few years and Cork are challenging for the league this year

You are seriously underestimating the quality in the top half of the league of Ireland. A league of Ireland select 11 would be streets ahead of a conference best 11. To say players like The Brennan's, Fahey, McClean, Shields, Towell, N'Do, Forrester, Bermingham, Boyle etc are no better than conference level is way off the mark. Those players could easily handle league one.

What you mentioned there is not top half but 2 teams mostly who I would agree and have said elsewhere those 2 teams would hold their own in the top half of league 2 bottom half of League 1. You will also find Fahey is streets ahead of his St Pats team mates as shown in the Legia game. Every single club in the English league system is Professional. Every team in the football BSP is Professional and the ones that ain't go straight back down. I ain't underestimating the strength of our top half people here are underestimating the strength of the English Pyramid system.

Not really. There were only three non-league teams in the 2013-2014 FA Cup third round – Grimsby and Macclesfield went out to Championship sides, while Kidderminster beat Peterborough, eventually going out to Sunderland in the fourth round.

Dundalk played pretty well at home to Split too.

You really think a Conference side would have run Split as close?

By a country mile. You are seriously overestimating the standard of football played in the Conference – I would put it on a par with the Welsh Premier.

I could have named 50 players that are too good for the conference. And your Fahey point shows you don't follow the league very closely. He has been pretty average for Pats this season and has been nowhere near their best player.

This is turning into a silly debate (My fault) but would any of Athlone, Bohs, Drogheda, UCD,Bray, and Limerick with their current squad win promotion from the Conference in your honest opinion?

Welsh League is nowhere near Conference level

Shels fans, how many are ye bringing to Galway on Friday?

Won't be anywhere near the vocal 300 odd we brought last time, I'd say you're talking around half of that, poxy BoM!

He really isn't. He showed his experience against Legia, but he's often been overshadowed by his team-mates this year.

Ok, let’s turn this around – where would you place the conference on the following table:

There's a bit of controversy down here between the guards, the club and the fans about where to put ye. The singing section have moved to where ye were last time. They don't want to move but the guards want ye there again.

It's hard to know what kind of a home crowd will turn up, given all the race week distractions.

Bucko must be going to move Forrester into the midfield from the left wing soon and play Greene on the left. Slightly disappointing to lose Lynch he was quite good when he played I thought.

Quality, quality player. Has finally discovered a goalscoring touch this season, so not surprised there’s significant interest from abroad. He’ll be badly missed if he goes.

What have Pats left upfront if he left...Quigley or Kavanagh?

Shels brought a great crowd to Galway earlier in the season but catch a grip of yourself please. There was nowhere near 300 Shelbourne fans there.

If you bring around 150 tomorrow (which was similar to your crowd last time) fair play, that's a great crowd by First Division standards.

Strangely, the club is persisting with putting Shels fans in the New Stand for "health and safety" reasons. Ridiculous to be moving home fans out of the stand to accommodate away fans just because they can jump the wall if they score on the far side. So what.

I hope Greene tries harder for ye than he did for us, smashing player when on his game but he is rarely on it,

    Good riddance

It's a hefty fine (for the home club) per person if fans get onto the pitch.

If the singing section do have to move, it'll be to the opposite end of the new stand.

Was more than 150 last time, 100%, maybe 300 was stretching it but it was 200+. Two 50 seaters down iirc, 20 of us on the train, good load drove down I knew of too and add in the rest I don't know.
