Can't see it being 2 or 3 myself. Could go to +5 as the course gets tougher throughout the day.

    Easily

Wow... never seen 2 players both playing the wrong balls in such a big tournament!!! What a stupid error from all 4 people involved.

Mahan & Donaldson just played the wrong ball on 18...

hhe needs to at least hold that score because it looks like +2/3 is the cut.

Cut is only going to go out the way, id be surprised if +5s didnt at least make it.

Didn't get my edit in fast enough :)

Mahan seemed to be getting the blame as he hit first (walked up to the wrong ball). Donaldson just assumed the one ahead was his

When Shane started at +3 he was tied for 87th I think, up to 54th now without picking up a shot so you could well be right. Especially with it tougher later

Moment of the tournament for me so far :-)

Nothing silly from Lowry and he will make the cut.

Kaymer could run away with this.
Shades of Woods (2000) & McIlroy (2011) at the moment....

Keegan Bradley's pre shot shuffle is difficult to watch.

I think it's great fun. Looks like he's trying to fool the ball into thinking he's not going to hit it. :D

And Kaymer makes another birdie. 9 under and seven shots ahead of second place. Completely bogey free round so far and only one bogey in 30 holes.

Kaymer is scary good on this form, his for the taking with this accuracy.

That Ken Duke par was brilliant.

The best score apart from him today is -2 so far. He's on -4 with a par 5 next up.

He could well be in double figures.

Ye, and this afternoon is going to be tougher. Could be looking at a big half-way lead here.

Worst score today (with two holes to play) is Kiyoshi Miyazato with a +10 . 21 over for the tournament.

Next is Graeme Storm who coincidentally qualified along with Lowry at Walton Heath who's +9 for the day (+11 for the tournament).

Granted if I could play that course for an average of 81 I'd be dancing a jig. :D

Kaymer gets to -10!! Currently 8 shots clear. Absolute stunning golf and in a different league!

Thought he'd birdie that par 5 alright. Tough series of holes to finish up the round though and it's where he got his bogey yesterday.

Adam Scott is making a bit of a charge. Three under after 15 and 4 birdies on his card.

The USGA have announced that they are going to lace Kaymers breakfast with laxatives tomorrow in order to keep the scoring down.

And he was so annoyed missing the birdie putt. Is it game over do we think? Two rounds of level par could do him.

Imagine the headlines there would be if Tiger or Rory shot two opening 65s at a US Open. I really hope Kaymer gets the deserved recognition for 2 stunning rounds of golf.

Still a couple of lads about to tee off that could bridge the gap somewhat.
Plenty of players floating around -1,-2 that could bridge the gap a little.

Wouldn't put a low round past Rory either. If a group of 5 or 6 could get to -4 or -5 later on then tomorrow will be interesting.

But ya, he has it won :)

Two rounds of level par will unquestionably do it. Looking at everyone else's scores and the usual scoring you would expect over the weekend at a US Open, if Kaymer shoots +8 over the final 36 holes that will probably be good enough.

Even that is easier said than done though as I'm sure there will be many scores in the high 70s over the weekend.

So, reviews on another US Open come and gone ?

    A good win for Kaymer.
Good to see him back in form, and the two major winner club is a nice one to belong to. Fully deserved and destroyed the field, on a tough course that the USGA would never have foreseen some one going so low - and they were sort of right in that no other player did.
Positive from a European perspective in a Ryder Cup year also.
How many can Kaymer go on to win now ? Interesting to see if he can maintain that level. A few years ago I would never really have considered him major material. But fair play. Could now see him joining the multi major winners of Faldo, Seve, Michelson level. Hopefully he keeps it up.
Not sure about the course set up. But hard to argue against when the man playing the best golf came away with the trophy.

OK I'll bite! Seriously premature post. These kind of leads can and do disappear. Remember Greg Norman's meltdown against Faldo in the 1996 Masters? Even this year Thomas Bjorn threw away a huge lead at the BMW PGA championship when Rory shot the lights out....

I'll borrow Dunphy's dress if Kaymer loses it. I say loses it because no-one else is going to win it IMO.

Kaymer will prob have to shoot two 74's to lose it, that's 9 shots per round worse than he's currently shooting.

Slim chance but I don't think I'll be waxing my legs. :)

Big difference between losing a lead on a course like Wentworth were good low scores coming from the pack are extremely likely.
