Kaymer will prob have to shoot two 74's to lose it, that's 9 shots per round worse than he's currently shooting.

This is the US Open. There have been bigger collapses than that.

At this course in 2005, Retief Goosen was the defending champion and led after 54 holes. In the final round he shot an 84. Two 74s is minor compared to that.

I think it was an 81 but yeah there's always a chance Kaymer will fold. But having watched him over the years, I'd say its quite unlikely. If someone can get to -5 today, and -8 tomorrow, it will put pressure on him. But its really in his hands now, if he can shoot under par tomorrow he'll be in excellent shape

Kaymer is obviously massive favourite but you can never tell. Goosen had a reputation as an iceman so nobody would have predicted his collapse.

    Kucher ain't smiling now!!!!

Obviously it's not a certainity that he'll win but this would be a way bigger collaspe than Goosen.

Goosen lead by 3 going into final round. He blew it early in the final round and went straight back into the pack with 2 bad holes and then continued to fall into the field.

The Matt Kutcher hitting two putts scenario is going to be interesting to see the result. He is obviously going to ask the committee to look at video footage later on but doesn't the new decision 18/4 not permit retrospective movement evaluations from HD tv that were not discernible to the naked eye.......

Lads there is no such thing as a major over on a Friday.

Even if he had a 10 shot lead. And he doesn't.

Cut at +4 and better at present.
It might just sneak in at that.

About 4 or 5 guys still out there still at +4. If 2 of them drop a shot and go to +5 then it'll bring quite a few.

    And the opposite has happened.
2 guys from +5 just had birdies.
Now it's 4 people required to drop back.

Windy and dry conditions with no rainfall last night making it very difficult for the early starters. Only one player under par for his round so far

What was the story with this?

    Ok but what actually happened?

Kuchar was about to putt, the ball moved, he was sure he hadn't addressed the ball but after consultation with the rules official, he putted a second ball (the ball that would have been the "penalty" ball, just in case)

It was then reviewed after the round

    Google might explain better tbh

The course is borderline unplayable at the moment, be interesting to see how Kaymer copes today...

4 players under par for today at the moment. I don't find golf as entertaining when the course is this difficult

Average score for those holding it together and not blowing away altogether seems to be about 3 over.

Kenny Perry on #Pinehurst today: "It was probably the hardest setup I've ever experienced in a major championship."

Rory's putt on 9th, some people are asking does his husband play?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 444 ✭✭Rippeditup

I am loving it, the standard of golf is insane considering the conditions.. Also helps have the World Cup to flick on also

+3 today with 3 to play. Only 4 shots in it now!! Much and all as I'd love to see him win it, I need others to come into the reckoning.

Felt he would have a wobble. Birdie on last was key.

let's be honest . The field below him are very poor for such a big event.

Ummmm...While they may be a few shots behind... Speith, Rose, Kuchar, Snedeker, Johnson, Stenson and Fowler in the top 10:confused:

Good to see Kaymer birdie the last. Hope he goes on and takes the title.

Only 3 major champions (Kaymer, Rose, Rory) in the top 22. Surely Martin will not let a newcomer into the party.

Unless he suddenly loses his touch on the greens I can't see anything but a comfortable Kaymer win tomorrow

Hopefully Compton finishes top 5, great story
