A huge honourable mention has to go out to Brooks Koepka, earning his U.S. tour card by finishing in a tie for fourth.

    Woot!!! Congrats to Martin kaymer

Great win Martin, we'll have at least one major winner in Gleneagles.

The European streak at the US Open is great to see.

Note to Eric Compton, the caddie need to quit the fags.

The point is the players knew anything by the flag was dead, Rose was only answering the bird on Sky's set up for the inevitable 'Course is not fair' talking points.

Yes I take the point he could have hit the iron longer than his yardage, but even that is dreadful course management for the exact reason anything past is dead, don't be past the flag.

I've been making the point that there's been a huge amount of luck involved for everyone, not just (or even) Rory. Kaymer had an eagle on the 5th on day 3 and that was from a wild drive that went way into the native area. His second shot came out far too hot but took a lucky bounce off the apron of the green and landed up to within 12ft of the pin. This is pretty much how Kaymer himself described it. I'm not by any stretch saying that he lucked his way into the win, but without that eagle he would have been far closer to the field going into the last day.

On the other hand anyone trying to chase his lead got punished severely. I was really glad to see Kaymer win, but I was disappointed that there wasn't a bit more of a contest. There also didn't seem to be much of a disadvantage to being off line from the tee.

Delighted for Kaymer, I suspect he'll be world number one again at some point this year.

Also fair dues to Compton & Koepka, hopefully they kick on from here.

What was the verdict on the course, especially the scrubland ?.
I thought it was a bit too fertile in certain areas & not the look they originally intended.
I wouldn't say it's a course which will live long in the memory.

I couldn't stay awake, but reckoned it was a foregone conclusion that Kaymer had it in the bag. Delighted for him. He's a great player, and I expect him to go to number 1 in the world quite soon, and to stay there for a long time.

I think it's great how far they moved the tees up and nobody scored better.

That is a great golf course, you had a chance from the waste but had to hit a great shot out of it.

We didn't have to watch players hack out of rough all day AND play on tricked out greens or high rough right around the green, there were actual shotmaking on every green, rather than hit and hope from a yard off the green.

The water use has been cut by nearly 90 percent I'd wager.

Michelle Wie in a bit of bother now after looking like she was cruising to the women's US open.

    May go to a playoff.

For play to.... ahem....Antrim's Stephanie Meadows, super golf from her. Looks to have finished third and her first pro event.

Fantastic birdie on the last! 3rd place at the US open and possible 2nd depending on what Wie does up 17 and 18 ;)

Brilliant win for her. Hopefully she can kick on from this one now and win all the majors she promised to win from such an early age!

Delighted for her. So much pressure from such a young age wouldn't have helped in any way.
Wish there was more coverage of the LPGA tbh.

I watched her last night it was great better than the men's final round ie. more drama.
She's easy on the eye too.
