The US Open's own app is the only way to go.

Some round by Kaymer - if he gets up and down here on 18 - it will be the lowest US Open round ever at Pinehurst.

Jaysus lads - Bradley is as bad as ever - in fact , got a bit worse.

Has Bradley pre shot routine always been that bad?

Was much worse - he had a spit too. He had to get rid of many of his ways. But, his game fell away too.

He seems to have brought in his hesitant step a bit more - but is playing better.

If he spits by sunday - he could be back in this.

Was delighted to see Casey at -2 after 16.... Switch over from footy to see him for a tap in par on his 18th.... To finish E.... Aaarghhhh

Casey had an unfortunate "run-in" with a "run-off" area ;)

Heavy rain overnight at Pinehurst which will result in a lot of tricky pin positions for round 2. Could get interesting later in the day if the greens firm up.

Where did you hear this snow drifts? I checked earlier and it was clear with 4 or 5 mil having fallen in the previous 24 hours. 3 a.m there currently.

I follow most of the players on twitter and they all commented on heavy thundery downpours last night. It's a shame.... really wanted to see this place crisp up.

    Lee Westwood ‏@WestwoodLee
"Lashing it down here in Pinehurst."

    Lee Westwood ‏@WestwoodLee
"I dread to see the pin positions the USGA come up with tomorrow to keep the scoring under control."

    Graeme McDowell ‏@Graeme_McDowell
"The sprinkler systems just kicked on here at Pinehurst #2. Raining hard. #storm http://moby.to/5tffbj "

    Ian Poulter ‏@IanJamesPoulter
"It is seriously raining right now. If the greens were not watered after the round. They are sure getting some moisture now. target golf."

    James Corrigan ‏@jcorrigangolf
"Big storm here near pinehurst. It's going to get softer. And the usga will be sobbing"

I was surprised with the Sky lads talking as if the place was only going to crisp up. The forecast going into it was that there was a 30-60% chance of rain (and thundery rain ;) ) each of the 4 days.

As Westwood said can only imagine where they will put the pins.

Yeah.. it barely looks like a drizzle in this clip.;) (via @irishgolfdesk this morning)

Late/Early seems to be the draw to get. Should be soft enough this morning with the course drying out.

So how much rain fell in those 2 minutes :P

If the 4 or 5 mill recorded is correct id say the course will be similar to today. A bit of give in the morning getting back to firm in the afternoon.
    The joys of 30c :D

Hopefully the storms will avoid the area in daylight hours like yesterday.
I was following the radar yesterday and really they were very lucky to have avoided them. Fingers crossed for more of the same.

Yeah I see that now - that's a bit silly of them the way they have that in there because it definitely looks like a withdrawal notice!

For anyone that's interested, the US Open's own leaderboard is quicker to update and less glitchy than the PGA Tour's.

That's the best site for a major event yet. Great guide hole by hole.

The Pinehurst area got .64 inches (about 16mm) last night so it was a fair amount.

It should play massively into the hands of Kaymer today being out early on softer greens and as you say, with that heat, it should be a lot crispier in the afternoon when some big names are out.

The course is playing over 200 yards longer today, USGA probably looking to toughen it up with softer conditions

Doesn't matter to Kaymer! He birdies his first hole of the day - now -6

Hope he dosn't do an Oostheuzin (Open 2010). There could be a big lead before the afternoon players get out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,138 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

And the jinx worked, he's in a bit of bother off the tee on 5.

In the nicest possible way I hope he goes back to the field soon

Kaymer is reminding me of McIlroy 2011 here.

Great stuff from kaymer, Tiger like!

All the commentators saying that level would win this, the way Kaymer is playing, it'll be double figures under par.

hhe needs to at least hold that score because it looks like +2/3 is the cut.

A dry weekend will surely bring him back to the field. Doing nothing wrong at the minute though

Can't see it being 2 or 3 myself. Could go to +5 as the course gets tougher throughout the day.
