Was recommended this in another thread on here, the 1 question I have is, is it possible to watch tv channels you have on your phone on your tv.I have an app on my phone that has all sky sports and bt sports channels free so if it did work could cancel my sports subs

PM me too pls, I know there is an app out there that will soon be supporting chromecast and sounds similar to the app you are talking about

google the app and see if it works with chromecast

then pm me the name of the app

Done that, have to purchase the premium edition for it to work alright, for the hefty sum of 2.99.from what friends have bern telling me its been removed from both app stores in the last couple of weeks

    Guys,

Even if via PM, the last 10-15 posts fall under the "no asking for porn warez etc" part of the charter

    No more please

I use my phone to tether as i dont have wifi at home - if i get the chromecast , can i use it to watch netflix on TV - with my phone tethered .it would save me having to set up and connect the laptop each time - which is what I currently do

So if you can mirror the screen of your phone to the tv via apps like allcast could I theoretically mirror streaming content from firefox browser to the chromecast?
I sometimes watch amazon prime in my phones firefox browser as its the only browser it works with.

No. I could be corrected but i think that uses flash by the sounds of it and Chromecast doesn't support flash.

youd be better off trying to figure out why it won't work in chrome and working from there

you create a wifi hotspot with your phone?

it...might work..maybe.. i cant really see why it wouldn't, and if netflix works fine doing the same with your laptop....

then again it's not my 40 euro wasted if it ends up not working :)

thanks for the reply- i was told it may not work as i might need to use an IP address to set up chromecast- Anyone know if this is the case? I don’t want to waste €40 quid if it won’t do the job!

I don't think it'll work. While tethering your phone is connected to the mobile network

Chromcast will work with a phone wifi hotspot. Used it before.

well the chromecast needs to be set up using a wifi enabled device but since your laptop will also be connected to the same wifi network as the chromecast (the phones wifi hotspot)... again i can't see why it wouldn't work, but it just might not for some reason I just wouldn't know about

what I think wouldwork..is setting up the wifi hotspot on your phone, plugging in the chromecast (the chromecast broadcasts its own wifi network when it doesnt hhave another to connect to, to allow you to connect to it and set it up) then use the laptops wifi to connect to the chromecast and tell it to connect to the phones internet

then connect the laptop to the phones internet and,.... oh wait

i dont know if there is a netflix app for pc with chromecast support. the android one does sure, but if your phone is being used to create the wireless hotspot i dont think youll be able t o run the netflix app to connect to the chromecast

you could open netflix website in chrome web browser and cast that particular tab to the chromecast, the problem with this is that it just doesn't work as well as casting from an app with a specific plugin designed for the chromecast. the video might be jerky or lower quality.

i dont know if there is a netflix app for pc with chromecast support.

The web version supports Chromecast, so when you cast the vid from the regular web Netflix, it casts in the same way as if you did it from your android app, i.e. you won't get what's in the browser tab, just Netflix.

Is Chromecast excluded from the 30 day return policy? I don't see the symbol excluding it on the Argos site.

Picked up a chromecast in Argos bout a month ago, and first thing they said when they typed in the numbers was that it was excluded.

There a great little bit of kit in fairness, had been wanting one since i used a mates over in the states but they weren't available here at the time.

Just wondering zr105 how do you use yours? Is there any latency issues with streaming stuff?

Tell you what, this is going to be a handy little yoke to throw into the suitcase to keep the kids (3 ½ & 1 ½)entertained on hols (post bathtime/pre bedtime) .

If you're using an chromecast compatible app the stuff streams directly to the chromecast not via the phone/tabler, your phone/tablet just sets up the connection. The beta mirroring functionality is almost useless.

Bring your own wifi router also - most hotels, holiday parks etc will have client segregation on their networks and the Chromecast cannot work in that case.

Some mobiles wifi tethering works properly as a router (my now quite old Xperia S for instance) if you're stuck.

Any advice on setting up eircom efibre modem with the chromecast?

It just won't connect to wireless for me.
I've tried it on 2.4ghz(?) and tried disabling QoS and neither worked.
