Konoplyanka to Utd looks to be gathering pace in today's media.

I did read back in Jan an article that mentioned Van Gaal and Konoplyanka but I can't for the life of me find it.

United are Spurs' Spurs'. They've hijacked their mooted manager and now (maybe) one of their mooted targets.

Looking like the Lallana deal is delayed/dead in the water going by various reports around.

Liverpool unwilling to go meet Southamptons valuation at 25 mill.

Why do I have this nagging feeling its going to be another awful transfer window and we will all feel we have blown our chances of improving.

I don't see any problem with saying no to 25m for Lallana, he isn't worth that much.

Especially if there are other targets of the same quality who are potentially cheaper. Early days yet.

You're speaking too much sense. Don't you realise it's silly season now that the league is over? Get your game face on!

We're going to buy Yaya for 12 million and a birthday cake every year.

Offer him a Bugatti every 6 months. Probably cheaper than his wages

I think the problem with the Lallana transfer lies with the manager being linked with the spurs job.

I dont think they will sanction any outgoings until he decides to stay or go and they appoint a new man to decide who he wants to keep/let go.

Not so sure about that. This would be a business decision made by the board i.e. getting 20m for a player brought up through their ranks would be a great bit of business - for any club. Not good for their football aspirations however.

Ah, it's pure speculation on the Mirror's part regarding Konoplyanka. I was worried it was a credible source for a moment. Phew.

25M is too much for Lallana. 15M, fair enough. 20M one could get their head around to maybe. 25M? I'd be expecting either one of the most exciting young prospects around or a player who has Champions League experience, is regular international and has consistently been a very good player for a number of years.

Lallana is worth around 15-18m max- If some other crowd want to over spend let them off, but 25m is ridiculous.

    Exactly.

Southampton could be on the cusp of challenging for Europe with the right appointment and one or two good purchases. I dont know the financial situation the club is in, whether they need to sell to buy or not, but i imagine a lot of managers would be a little reluctant to take over if one of their best players is to be sold.

Or is that just part and parcel of being a mid-table club constantly selling to try to remain in the same position or slowly sinking if the quality of recruits lessens?

Player evaluation is rather arbitrary anyway, in my eyes.

If we pay 25m for Lallana and he plays for us in the manner he did last season, and does it for a number of years, nobody bats an eyelid. Alternatively, we pay 18m, and he doesn't fit in at all, people will be up in arms.

I've become increasingly less invested in monitoring our transfers over the years, I think the Carroll and Downing stuff broke me, and now I no longer care with regards to the 'how much', just does the player fit.

Lallana fits. If Rodgers wants him, fine by me. We should have enough money to buy him and still be able to invest in our other areas of needs.

Saying that, if we pass and get someone else in of similar or better quality, grand by me too.

Is it World Cup time yet?

World Cup year also - prices are always inflated. If Lallana has a half decent WC, Southampton can push the boat out another 5m if they want.

Boards.ie making all the transfers. Kinda like when we sold Nuri to the Prison Forum, only to get him back on a cut price deal.

Sure didn't they keep playing him out of position, tis no wonder he didn't settle there.

Reds still keen to sign Lallana and are ready to listen to offers for Agger

Its just an article that tells us nothing that we don't already know.

    BREAKING NEWS:
I am a slave, says Nuri as he pushes for Manchester United Superhtread move

Nuri's desire to join the United Superthread appeared stronger than ever this morning after a television interview in which he reiterated he had not changed his mind about wanting to leave the Liverpool superthread and agreed with the Fifa president Sepp Blatter's criticism about the way the PPS (Panda Prat Saps) had handled the situation. Blatter had urged the Liverpool Superthread to allow the poster to leave and, more controversially, complained that there was "too much modern slavery" in the sport.

Blatter, an honorary member of United Superthread with close ties to the club thread's president, (if I put any name down I'll be reported/infracted , so I won't), had described himself as "very much in sympathy" with Nuri and urged the Liverpool SuperSaps to allow him to leave, suggesting it was otherwise tantamount to slavery. "I agree with what he said," said Nuri, when that last point was put to him. "It's true. I agree with what the president of Fifa said. I know what I want and what I would like. We have to see what happens. I do not know where I will begin next season."

Nuri was subsequently asked whether that meant he still wanted to move to the United Superthread. "At the moment I can't say any more," he replied. "But you know what I said [at the end of transfer window] and what I want." He was asked when it would be sorted out. "I hope very soon."

Article on Suso at Bleacher Report (which isn't rubbish as per usual) - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2069479-scouting-report-did-liverpools-almeria-loanee-suso-succeed-or-fail

For me, the comparison with Lallana isn't entirely fair. The quality of players he plays with at Southampton is decent and they generally all play to a high level and are technically very good. Almeria on the otherhand were apalling when I watched them. Technically very poor, awful in possession; Suso very often found himself isolated and I think that reflects in his passing stats. If you dropped Suso into the Southampton team, then I think you'd see increased performance for sure, he might even get close to the kind of statistics that Lallana showed this season.

Id be pretty surprised if any player going to the world cup is going to be involved in any deals before hand, most id imagine are gone to training camps already or soon enough. Granted i know agents do most of the work but youd imagine most players are content enough at the moment and would be fully focused on the world cup.

Not Liverpool. But since the media had a field day with Suarez I wonder will they be in such an outrage as they were with Suarez

Lol Im not actually panicking bud! I didn't realise it was May though, I feel much happier now.

In all seriousness, I think 25 million is too much for Lallana. As someone else said on the thread 15 - 20 million would be his value.
