Well that is one sweet image!

Are the tabs along the top in the menu screen functional or just cosmetic?

    :D
Just cosmetic, full credit goes to the guys over on sattvhelp.com forums for the skin and for the skinned virtual zap.

Below is a link to my Hyperion v4 based Complete Image - for the Amiko Alien2 and other ST7162 Based Boxes.

This image is working with the following:
    AutoTimer
    AutoVolumeAdjustment
AutoBoquets 20131020 (works in about 60 secs)
    CacheFlush
    CrossEPG 0.6.2
    CoolTVGuide v7.0
    EMU Manager
    MyTubePlayer
    OpenWebIf
OSCam v9550 (with blank sample readers)
    PermanentTimeShift
    Various Skins
    Rats Picons
    RTE Player
    Samba Server
    Sly HD bootlogo
    Soarview Picons
Streaming / Recording of $ Channels while watching another $ channel
    TSMedia 6.5
    Virtual Zap

Vfd fix applied so newer boxes have a working display panel.

Use the Download menu in Plugins or just FTP the .ipk files to the /TMP folder, telnet to the box and type IPKG INSTALL xxxxxxx.ipk. This should work for most plugins. CoolTVGuide is linked to the EPG button

The image is setup to use DHCP automatically and is also set for using HDMI at 720p. Terrestrial channels may need to be rescanned depending on your geographical location.

FTP and Telnet - Username "root", Password "pkteam"
OSCam - http://box_ip:8888 - Username "root", Password "oscam"
    OpenWebIf - http://box_ip (Default Port 80)
    DreamBoxEdit paths - /etc/enigma2/

Is there any way to change bouquet from within cooltvguide on this image? I can't do it, just wondering if I'm missing a trick.

Just a suggestion for those having CrossEPG issues. Some versions of satellites.xml don't include 11778 V 27500 which is the EPG transponder

I think something not quite right with that new skin. Can some try to repeat my experience.

Works perfectly when tuned to a satellite channel. But when tuned to a saorview channel the receiver slows right down. Accessing menu etc slows right down only when tuned to saorview.

Change skin and the problem goes away.

hard drive not working this help me,
    1. Used EaseUS Partition Master to format it as a single partition, Ext3 and Primary.
    2. Insert key into rear of Alien 2.
    3. Open Telnet and run command
    Code:
    fdisk -l
to confirm it is mounted at /dev/sda1
    4. Type these three commands one after the other into the Telnet window pressing Enter after each...
    Code:
    mkfs.ext3 -L RECORD /dev/sda1
    cd /autofs/sda1
    mkdir movie
    5. Reboot Alien 2.. Menu > Standby/restart > Restart
    6. After this you should be able to press 'Record' on the remote control and record.

I've found it to perform poorly on PKT anyway, its sluggish and can take a few seconds for anything to appear on screen after pressing the Menu button. The old skin performs much better.

It seems to be hit and miss on certain images, ARP was slightly better.

Tried to replicate it just now going between channels, navigating the menus, using Virtual Zap. Doesn't seem any slower. Wonder would it be the box downloading the saorview epg slowing it down for you. I'm using a USB 3.0 hard drive, i wonder would that make any difference.

Just realised pressing the play button while in crossepg brings up the list of bouquets to choose from which is probably fast than going through them one by one.

Strange Nutzz is experiencing it and your not. Ruled out the saorview epg downloading causing problem earlier by turning off EIT epg. Still experienced the sluggishness.

The skin displays some errors when tuned to Saorview. Try tuning to saorview and select menu and toggle down through menu and see if you see text errors right under Sky Logo at "MainMenuScreen!. These errors go when tuned to satellite channel.

anotherway, is, once you are in the crossepg, press menu, and then set one of the colour buttons to be change of bouquet and save.
(But hadn't come across the play button trick before. Live and learn)

If you look through the thread properly there are plenty of working images. The discussions are all about improvements..

I'll have a look at it tonight, seems to be working fine on one of my boxes and not on the other, only difference I can think of is the working box is using a usb 3.0 hard drive and the other is using a 2.0 one. I left the old sky skin in the new image if anyone wants to go back to that until it's sorted.

Browsing Saorview channels is slower than Satellite channels on almost every image and skin I have tried bar a few .
Its something to do with the EIT data ,it seems to cause the box to slow down slightly.
I found AR-P to be the fastest and PKT/Hyperion the worst .
    Different skins vary too.

I've also noticed that if you tune the receiver to a channel that has 0% snr ,it causes it to slow down dramatically .
I found this extremely annoying when trying to setup a receiver without a live satellite feed ,it was very unresponsive.
Could be something to do with scanning transponders in the background perhaps ?

    Are you using multiquickbutton?

These boxes don't have Quad Core CPU's and 4gb of RAM !!!

There are only so many plugins that you can load and so you have to balance functionality with available resources. That's why I built my image with the basic but essential parts to give you a fully functional box, suitable for 90% of users, and which will therefore pass the "wife" test !!

    @freshpots. No not using Multiquickbutton.

Champs its your image I'm using added some extra plugins but have recently deleted all I have installed but issue still persists. Wife was not happy with loosing Sky had a few minor hicups before this but this will not go down well. So do I need to delete some more plugins or would I need a full re-install.

Just one other note I received 500g samsung harddrive today maybe when I get it formatted and linked up to Alien2 would this re-leave some of the internal memory. Noob Q.

Just noticed I have only 1.12% free memory space.

It wull help definitely as your epg would be saving to your internal memory if you had no external hdd, killing the box. Quickest option is to reflash and once you're happy, make a backup and you'll have all for again should anything go wrong.

Have you automatic timeshift on ,that can cause this issue.
Uninstall it if and see if that improves things.

RTE Player wont work properly on Ar-P ,the audio is garbled.

I dont have on automatic timeshift Zardoz. But I do have a number of programmes on Zap. I will delete these and hook up the hardrive later when I get time to see will this resolve the issue. Thanks.
