    Hi,

I have put ChampionC's 22Dec2013 AR-P based Image on my new box and it works fine (thanks Championc). I now want to edit my favourites using the dreambox editor to create my own personalised (read that as the wifes preferred channel listing) channel listing. I have searched through the thread and it is discussed several times but unfortunately i cannot follow how to do it.

What file do i need to transfer for editing and what path would it be in?

I thought i had it when i edited the autobouquets.csv file but it made no difference.
There was talk of adding the channels to Favs using the remote but i haven't figured that out yet.

Apologies for the questions but the learning curve is curving more that i thought it would!

    Thanks.

I think you got that from another forum. Maybe try the later one. Included in the image directory is a "Details" file which included the DreamBoxEdit paths

Quick way via remote is highlight the channel you want to move, press menu-move then to the bouquet of your choice.

    Thanks Championc for your reply.

I actually pulled the image which was linked on the other boards thread. As this is my first tinkering with one of these boxes i thought i'd take a known good image to use and then move on if needed.

Again thanks for your help, really appreciated.

@hotwhiskey, matter of choice, but i find dcc a nicer/cleaner program than FileZilla for connecting and working through the box.

    Username :root

Password will depend on what image you are using. I'm on Hyperion, so password is pkteam.

Off the top of my head "i think" the FTP path is etc/enigma2.

I'm sure someone will correct that if I'm wrong.

I've mine saving to my external hdd. Change the path in the "recording paths" options

When I click on recording paths it tells me it's saving in media/hdd but it won't let me change it, I noticed that my normal recordings are going to hdd/media which I think is where my timeshift should be going

Trying to remember off the top of my head, you can defo change it. When highlighting the media/hdd press ok. Then I think its the blue button to "remove bookmark". Then press menu ans selwct "file list" and select where you want to save your timeshift.

Try that, can't be 100% unless I'm looking at it, but that's the general idea

My timeshift files are saved to /media/hdd/ which works fine for me.

    Hi All
Can someone answer a small noobie question for me please
I recently got an alien 2+
Came already preinstalled with enigma 2
The box kept crashing and doing all kinds of mad stuff like changing channels
and swaping from tv to radio and green screens to beat the band

Unsurprisingly the wife was not impressed having been talked into giving up sky
I defaulted the box back to spark which is definately more stable and has not crashed once in the last week

My question is now that i have defaulted back to spark
is the enigma 2 image gone or can i swop between the 2 will my spark image be saved if i chose to boot into enigma 2 or flash a new one like hyperion 3
Can i swop between the 2 without loosing data or will i have to load backups everytime

    Many thanks

Yes you can swap between Spark and Enigma2 , the Enigma2 image will be saved.
I would suggest reflashing Enigma2 though as your image seems unstable.

Hyperion v4 would be newer. The latest openpli images are getting a good response too.

E2 and spark are separate so you can switch between them any time you want.

    Hi,

I'd like to get some feedback on the best way to load a plugin assuming you cannot download it from the menu.
I understand that if i place an ipk file in the tmp folder, i can putty into the box and complete the install.
I have the tsmedia plugin which is in a normal folder structure and not in an ipk zipped format.
I have placed the folder into the plugin extension folder but get errors when i access the plugin menu relating to this plugin.

When i delete the folder and reboot enigma, i obviously get no more errors when accessing the plugin menu.

So what would be the best method to complete this install?

    Thanks.

Thanks a million for the quick replies guys

Looks like I may be able to play around with it when ( she who must be obeyed )is not looking then :-)
Just boot back to spark before she comes home & she wont be any the wiser
    Thanks

May depend on what image your using
    Enigma or spark
Can you not find a version in the right format for the usb install

I installed some plugins from usb without issues ( havent tried ts media yet though )

Not exactly what you're asking but for future reference...
If you have Dream Explorer installed you can go to the temp folder and install an IPK file directly using Dream Explorer.

Is there any reason why certain channels freeze and others dont? For instance Channel 4 SD, ITVHD E4 and E4HD are ALWAYS freezing. Also some of the Movie channels and other pay channels (but not all)freeze. Its a pain when you record something and when you play it back you only get to see half the programme due to freezing issues.

I don't have anything else running on the internet when this happens. It happens on Spark also so it is not just an Enigma issue.

That's most likely a signal issue, Channel 4 SD, ITV HD and E4 are free channels, no encryption, they do not need clearing over your internet connection

Other free channels don't freeze though. Channel 4HD and BBCHD never freeze. It seems to be very hit and miss. One night I could watch a whole movie on Sky Movies and it will not freeze then the following day it is freezing all the time. Same with Sky Sports.

What is your signal to noise ratio like for the sat channels?
could it be your dish is slightly misaligned?

Your dish is receiving signal from 100+ different transponders from a few different satellites that are all in the same general direction from Ireland. Aligning a dish is about finding a signal balance between these transponders, not just maximum signal from the first one you find

This either means your dish is slightly offline for theses transponders or the signal is a little weaker. This could be down to the installer not taking the time to find a balance or can also be down to corrosion of the dish itself, Sky dishes don't last long.

A combination of all of the above should fix it, add an updated satellites.xml, reboot, do a full scan with clear before scan enabled, run autobouquets, reboot, then run CrossEPG downloader. It's also no harm to delete the CrossEPG database from the drive every few weeks and rebuild, it gets slow over time

I have added satellites.xml to etc/enigma2 folder by PTF Rebooted. I ran Autobouquets Rebooted and the same for CrossEPG downloader. I still have the same channels missing. This has really baffled me. The only issue I have noticed is when I run the CrossEPG downloader a message appears on screen when complete 'Service unavailable Check your tuner configuration!' When i go back to channel listings i still can bring up channels but the message is still onscreen I have to reboot to clear it.

Is there another folder were it might work better.

You forgot to do the full scan with clear before scan enabled. This will not affect any bouquets, but will rescan a full set of channels including those you are missing
