Surely Owen got more than that

18 in two seasons, and I think at least one of them was as a teenager.

Does anyone know what the goal record is for a teenager? Rooney scored 11 for Utd Sterling is on 9 and so conceivably could at least match that.

Check out the top 10 Premier League goalscoring teenagers below - with all stats courtesy of OPTA and the Daily Mail:

    1. Robbie Fowler | Liverpool | 1994/95 | 23 goals

    2. Michael Owen | Liverpool | 1997/98 | 18 goals

    3. Michael Owen | Liverpool 1998/99 | 18 goals

    4. Romelu Lukaku | West Brom (on loan from Chelsea) | 2012/13 | 13 goals

    5. Nicolas Anelka | Arsenal | 1998/99 | 13 goals

    6. Robbie Keane | Coventry City | 1999/2000 | 12 goals

    7. Robbie Fowler | Liverpool | 1993/94 | 12 goals

    8. Wayne Rooney | Manchester United | 2004/05 | 11 goals

    9. Kevin Gallen | QPR | 1994/95 | 10 goals

Strange season. It was like no team really wanted or believed they could win it.

Chelsea had no striker and Champions League was the primary focus. Could have won the league but lacked concentration against weaker teams.

Liverpool had brilliant strikers but defence shifted 49 goals. Not good enough to be champions. Fantastic late run but did choke in the home straight with 1 point from expected 4-6.

Man City struggled with injuries but also lost confidence after another iffy Champions League. Large squad and good attacking game plans with lots of goals got them over the line.

Arsenal, we all knew they would flounder eventually. Not good enough and also need a striker. Indicative of a poor season that they led the league for so long.

Nothing to do with Ramsey,Walcott, ozil, Jack getting injured.

Take these players out of any side, it's the same result.

Really shows you how good Owen and Fowler both were.

Jack every team gets injuries. Its having the players to step up when that happens.

If only we could have made that pairing work. The current pair is the closest we have been since, 2 strikers capable of 20+ a season...

Fowler's record before the injury took its toll was frightening.

Cheers, so then Sterling would be the only player in the 10 + goals list (if he gets it!) who is not a striker.

The comment was everyone knew they would flounder eventually, it wasn't inevitable until the injuries.

Can you remember what the injury was?

I'm sure everyone remembers Fowlers line sniffing celebration.

Houlliers explanation of it was priceless. He said it was a grass eating celebration from Cameroon inspired by the Liverpool defender Song.

    Lol

Alan is right, there's a hell of a lot more positives than negatives considering what the club was through with H&G, Hodgson et al, taking a risk on Rodgers which a lot of opposition fans laughed at and have eggs on their faces now! I think we all had reservations about it, some more than others, but that was out of concern for the club.

Agree with your post, except this bit. Any opposition fans I talked to about Rodgers when he became manager said they were impressed by him and one friend of mine, who's die hard United, said he'd love him when Fergie retired.

It was our fans who gave Rodgers a hard time, a few of my friends irl and a lot of people on here. I wasn't sure about him at the start but I was quickly impressed by his philosophy early on, even if the results were bad.

Just a small point, from my own experience of when he joined the club.

Does anyone else think Sterling will eventually progress into a Striker/Second Striker?

He's got all the qualities for it and would be more effective than if we was out on the wing or in an attacking midfield role.

Looks like Richard Ashcroft in that.

Walking around the pitch knocking people out of the way.

Was definitely an issue with his knee, anyway. Remember him in crutches during World Cup 98, and he'd been injured a while before that as well.

Thought so too, all up in the air to be honest.

"I didn't make these rumours up myself, so I don't particularly want to comment on them too much, but I'm definitely not about to jump ship at Bayern," Muller insisted.

"That said, I can't make any guarantees for all time."

Not getting my hopes up for Sunday.

I've followed this thread for months without commenting. It was part of my superstition. I followed the 11 game unbeaten run through the boards match threads. Couldn't watch the games live as I might jinx it.

I believed this was a fool proof plan until Mourinho screwed me over. It was a wobble for me. I believed it would work again against Palace. So I've decided to forget about superstition. I'm forgetting about hope too.

Looking at things realistically we need a team who have nothing to play for, who we accused of making us park a mile from their ground, who we accused of over heating the away dressing room, who we complained (legitimately albeit) about their goal against, who we beat with two penalties, to go away from home and outscore the top team in the league.:(

In the last two weeks everything we needed to go for us has gone against us.

I want to believe that we finish second and drive on from there to challenge again next season and not drop off. You don't go from 7th to 1st in one season apparently. But you can go from 2nd to 1st. I think 2014/15 is where I'll place my hope!!:)
