Currently have one in the living room that was purchased in the US when this first came out. Only really uses I have for it is when I want YouTube on the big screen, whenever I am going through a Netflix subscription phase or the Chrome tab casting can come in handy if I am streaming a soccer game. Might get another one for the bedroom tv but at the minute I don't really use it too much to consider a second. If they implement an easy way for it to cast movies from my laptop on there I would snap a second one up straight away but I understand it might not actually happen!

Isn't that what Plex does ?

Was just about to say that too, Plex is really the way to go, spiffy interface and everything even downloads the covers and info on the movie.

drag movie from laptop to address bar in chrome
if your wifi router isn't good though you might find that it stutters.

Nothing, but means that you don't need to buy a cable. (20 euro) and be able to use your phone like normal while it plays off your phone. Also when connecting a phone to the TV through a cable it's screen mirroring which if used for long periods of time will drain the battery and turn the phone into a radiator.

Is it true that you can watch a programme on tv being streamed from your computer (in chrome) while surfing the net at the same time. And how good is it for this anyone tried it?

Having recently changed providers I'd suggest that's down to your broadband.

Anyone know how to get the Nexus 7 to work with chromecast.
Couldn't believe they wouldn't play nice when I tried it there recently.
I mean a Google tablet that doesn't work with Google's chromecast is ridiculous.

Bah... picked up one on Amazon with that €5 voucher last month for €30.

But this would have been a worthwhile use of that €20 One4All Voucher that's been sitting around.

Of course it Works, either you have a faulty unit or you have not set it up right. I have one since launch and my 3 year old can get it casting to my TV using Netflx....with a Nexus 7

From a quick google - Chromecast works fine with Nexus 7 (both 2012 ands 2013 versions), but it only allows you to "cast" certain content (such as You Tube, Google Play Movies, TV and Music, Netflix, Hulu); you can't "cast" your Nexus homepage or general Android apps to the Chromecast.
