A scrappy 1-0 Villa win would do me. Stranger things have happened, and with the amounts of ups and downs all of the title chasers have suffered this season, it would be tempting fate to bet against there being at least one more twist.

City reportedly going to be fined 50m and have to compete in next seasons CL with a squad of 21 for breaching FFP.

Not to get into tit for tat, but United were blessed against City twice this season.

That really is 'tit for tat'.

We were awful against City, no other way of putting it.

Wouldn't be surprised, Villa are all over the shop. Only thing I can think of is that Villa won't have as much drive to win as they are already safe.

City have only lost at home to Chelsea this season and only drew once against Sunderland. Nothing about this season suggests Villa or West Ham can beat them.

Makes great sense doesn't it. Spend too much?
Now you have to spend more to make up for it!

Pullis can be credited for that and Liverpool's terrible defense.

Aston Villa are a lottery this season when it comes to performances. At least with Palace since Pullis took over you know what to expect.

    Just can't see it myself.

Villa's form is awful (Won 3 of last 10 games), have nothing to play for and have a poor record against City.

Just can't see City throwing this away.

Rarely post but feel the need today...

Devastated after experiencing the last 15 mins last night. A million thoughts racing through the head. Johnson not good enough, WTF Skrtel, Lucas still on the pitch etc etc.......

But after getting out for a bit of fresh air came to the realisation of how great a season this has been. We were able to have the above thoughts last night because this team has given us so much hope, excitement and dreams.

At worst we will be second, most if not all of us would have taken that before it all kicked off. Yes, it was amazing to think we could (still can) and maybe should (maybe will) have won it but F that onwards and upwards now whatever happens tomorrow night and sunday next.

We've a great young manager who will have learnt more in the last 2 weeks than in the last 2 years. This will stand to him and the team. He'll know we need to strengthen and where and no doubt the game mgmt will be better.

    #YNWA.

Incredibly frustrating, that. What on earth was Skrtel doing for the 3rd goal?

On the positive side, Gerrard's slip now won't be the sole reason we threw away the title (is that a positive?). And to be optimistic, we were always relying on Man City to slip up anyway -- now we 'just' need them to lose instead of draw.

If we want to talk about what cost us the league, we also really need to look at Henderson's red at the end of the City game. You'd have to think he could have made the difference in both the Chelsea and Palace games.

It's hard to criticise Rodgers considering all he's done this season, but the best coaches are able to compromise their own beliefs in order to gring out results -- something we just didn't do in the last two games. Contrast that to Pelligrini telling Aguero to go down injured against Everton, and Dzeko rolling around on the ground for 6 or 7 minutes in the same game. More than anybody, he has to take some lessons from this run-in.

Aside from that, I hope Rodgers can focus on the defence and midfield in the summer. A settled back four is a must, and hopefully his coaching can rub off on them.

If the title is not won, then things like Gerrard's slip or Henderson's red will only seem like reasons because they are fresh in the mind.

We could point to many season defining moments after the season ends. Losses to teams like Hull and Southampton, Gerrard's slips, various errors by various defenders, an error or two by Mignolet and so on and so on. But we had a fair share of such things go in our favour this season as well.

Last night is not leaving a sour taste in my mouth because I don't think this roller coaster ride is without another twist in it, and also because the signs are there that we have a platform to build upon once again.

If we win the league it is going to make for a simply amazing Sunday in Liverpool, but even if we come second or third then this season has been a good one. We are off the back of four very average seasons when it comes to the league, so this season has been wonderful to watch unfold.

Don't really care what is being said in the media or by idiots on twitter when it comes to the club I support. We have laughed at the footballing misfortunes that happened to other clubs, so it is fair game if the same is returned when others perceive such a misfortune befalling us.

But we should focus on how our season has gone, and judge it on the expectations and hopes we had last August.

If the season ended right now, then I am bloody delighted with my team and how they have gone about their business for most of this season. I am delighted with the manager at the helm and with how he has grown this season, and I am over the moon with the sense of optimism I am already feeling towards next season.

Come end of play Sunday I am going to be roaring my support for the team as they go on their end of season lap of honour regardless of whether they are parading that one bit of silverware that I want us to win over all others. It has been a smashing season, and one that has me chomping at the bit for the transferwindow to begin in the summer.

Yep on paper Villa look to have it all to do. Terrible run of form, terrible record against City, some big names out, nothing to play for, and what not.

Seems to be just the right mix of no chance and dead ducks for a massive upset to to place.

We have nothing to lose by dreaming of a Villa win, and even if City do hammer Villa, well then we can dream of a West Ham win at the weekend.

The mercurial Stewart Downing skinning the Man City defence before floating in an inch perfect cross that gets met by the mighty Andy Carroll leaping like the salmon of knowledge. The net bulges and City lose by a goal to nil.

Then all wait on news from Anfield. Five minutes of added time is being played and the score is 0-0.

Then seconds before the ref blows up a foul is give, It's in the box. IT'S A PENALTY......

Up steps Gerrard....... it hits the bar and comes back out....only to be met by the head of Iago Aspas and the net bulges.

Iago Aspas has just won the league title for Liverpool. :pac:

Carlsburg don't do dream endings, but I sure as hell do. :D

    Of course it is not.

World cup year and there will be players at West Ham and Villa looking to make it into world cup squads. Hell there might be players there that just want the 15 minutes of fame that would come through upsetting the title race again.

When it is impossible to win the title, then and then only is it time to concide and to say well done to the winners, but still in it with a game to go means there is a chance Jim Carrey style.

    Sagna from Arsenal?

Would be a great addition imo.

Johnson I'm afraid is past his sell by date when defending.

Don't mind this Villa have nothing to play for rubbish- They are professional footballers, they always want to win. They, like West Ham, would relish upsetting Man City's bid for a title, who wouldn't? I'm not saying either will get a result but to suggest either team will just go through the motions is ridiculous.

Oh come on guys ... there is more chance of snow in hell. It's be just typical if City drew the game tonight cos it only serves to rub salt into the wound.

    Game over, ball burst.

You not see the BPL last few years? Plenty of teams go through the motions especially the ones playing for nothing. Sometimes bizarre results sometimes it barely qualifies as a game. West Ham couldn't give a monkeys about this game ... and who'd blame them. They'll just be hoping not to get a mauling and to get out of the limelight.
