If you're supporting another club and you hate Liverpool, it's not a huge stretch to describe one point from the last 6 as a collapse, particularly when the single point earned was from a position of 3-0 up with 12 minutes to go.

Won't be top 2 seeds. Will be 3rd Seed at best.

if athletico bilbao finish 4th in la liga do we not move up to pot 2 ?

He should take criticism, his inability to organize his defense has cost you the league. His silly substation to take off strikers yesterday, and his non-flexability against Chelsea. All his fault.

You give out about the defence, yet then say taking off strikers was the issue?

So more strikers on the pitch at all times, but magically sort that defence as well. No wonder some people are criticising if that's their understanding of the game.

    collapse?

    Christ Almighty.

if any of the teams in this race bottled it, it's Chelsea.

we drew yesterday because of pure naivety. that does not equal a collapse, which insinuates some sort of fragile mentality. for those who need a refreshing of the memory as to what happened, we thought the game was done and went gung-ho for goals. it backfired. spectacularly.

i'm happy for people to accuse the team of being fúcking stupid. that's fine. no problem with that.
8 men ahead of the ball at 3-1?
    moronic in the extreme? yes.
    collapsing? no.

basically, i've seen too many people misusing the word "collapse". many are doing it on purpose too. i've no problem with digs over last night, but at least be accurate when punching.

call the team stupid instead please. thanks.

City only enter Pot 2 on the back of Valencia, Inter, Milan and Lyon not qualifiying, but all 4 are ranked higher than City. Arsenal and Chelsea stay Pot 1. Liverpool, due to domestic blips, like in City's case should move them up to Pot 3 but not enough for Pot 2.

Lads, what a roller coaster season. First time we will be challenging for the title on the last day of the season for how long?? Lets look forward to it and get the praying going early (to the old gods and the new..). Andy Carroll ran riot against them in his first season for us and he owes us one. Its a long shot but not nearly as long as people are making out.

The team and BR will have learned so much from this season. Champions League football to look forward to next season and hopefully some new first XI additions.

In the future this season will be seen as a wasted opportunity or the start of something great, it all depends on the players and fans react to it.

I really do think that the small squad, and not being able to rotate players etc has hurt is in the last two games. A kind of catch 22, as we were able to build the momentum and win those games by having a close knit squad that went out on the pitch and gave their all for each other, but the last 10-15 minutes yesterday, and the likes of Johnson, Lucas, Suarez and Gerrard were dead on their feet. We simply don't have players of worth to justify subbing these, right now.

They really gave it all over the last few weeks, and that effort and commitment, along with Rodgers management and ingenuity, helped paper over many cracks. There's a reason why we are all saying we've exceeded expectations.

Remarkable and commendable effort from out players and staff, and ultimately, that's why I find it hard to be critical.

Next season, the same excuses won't be as acceptable, but the bonkers thing is, we could still win the league next week. How mental is that?

You know what, after reading the last few pages and being quite pi$%ed last night at dropping to points I have reflected on what we have achieved.

If you said to me on the last match of the season we are going to be second with 100 goals scored and need to work on our defence i would have bit your hand, arm and legs off. I am going to look at the positives this year and hope we learn as a team and push on to make the final steps next year and the year after.

On a side note my son had his heart broken last night by his first love LFC. he sobbed like i have never seen him do.... So Proud and told him there will be many many more years ahead where we will win and lose. That's life and that's football.

    No matter what.

I hope Anfield is electric for the team on Sunday. Hopefully the fans give them the same reception as recently.

I imagine that city will fired up for tomorrow nights game. Toure is back but Aguero is out?

Football is a funny old game though, City still have to win to actually put the points on the table.

The squad did brilliantly but as you said, the lack of players in the squad good enough to start hampered our ability to rotate and rest players.

    1 keeper Mignolet
    3 fullbacks Johnson, Enrique, Flanagan
    3 CBs Skrtel, Agger, Sakho
4 CMs Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas, Allen
    2 R/LW Sterling, Coutinho
    2 ST Suarez, Sturridge

Positions are fairly general, lads, before you have a go..

And a few of them missed large chunks of the season. We need, realistically, 4 starters at least and 2 players coming in from the reserver/back from loan.

2 FBs, 1 CM and one striker minimum for next year.

Lads have any of ye seen this? Im not even on about Huths comments. Look at this bit of journalism from Irelands "broadsheet" paper.

    http://www.independent.ie/sport/robert-huth-calls-for-luis-suarez-to-be-handed-a-threematch-ban-for-crying-30248293.html
While others such as Steven Gerrard and Martin Skrtel couldn’t believe what had happened, Suarez pulled his shirt over his eyes and balled like a baby, and not even a consoling word from Gerrard or Kolo Toure could lift his spirits.

Classy journalist quoting a classy player at a classy club.

I suppose he said the same to Terry after the CL semi-final defeat to Athletico Madrid?

Exactly. I can't understand this talk of a collapse - it looks like to win it we would have had to win 14 games in a row. It feels bad because we very nearly did that & it's hard to get so close to that phenominal achievement & see it slip away.

A collapse is if a team if 8, 10 or 12 points ahead and loses a few games & doesn't win it.

We collapsed in the match last night alright, but you can't say we've done that in term of the league race - we've actually finished stronger than Chelsea & City if anything, but had more ground to make up.

Heading over to it with no ticket nor any hope of one, but you can bet your arse I'll be outside the ground waiting for the team bus to arrive and give the lads encouragement. We have to go out onto our pitch on Sunday and show Newcastle and the world why we were in this title race. If we finish 2nd it'll be disappointing to have lost our grip on the league, but in the context of this season its a great result.

I expect Anfield to be absolutely mental on Sunday.

Sorry to drag the thread off topic, but looking for a bit of help.

I was trying to buy the Shankly Jacket from the on-line store but they have none in medium. I saw it on Amazon from another seller, bought it, but got scammed. I'm in the process of getting a refund, but stuck for a jacket now:mad:

Anybody know a decent shop around Dublin where I might pick up a nice LFC tracksuit/jacket up. I was hoping to have it for next Wednesday for the Rovers game, bringing my 2 sons to their first game, have their jersey's sorted since Christmas. I'll try order the Hillsborough patches for them today too.

Yes but you said we were lucky against city. Then Ranes1 said we were lucky all season. Then you said who mentioned luck? Then I said you did. The you said you didnt. Then I said you did and showed you where you did. The you tried to cover it up talking about context.
See how that works? Its pretty easy to understand when I spell it out for you no?

Nobody was covering it up. You pulling posts out of of context and suiting your own silly argument. He implied that I said Liverpool were lucky all season. Your nitpicking because I stated that you were lucky against Manchester City which I believe is true.

Sore feet and a sore throat today.

Will be worth it when I get to watch the title being won next Sunday.

Said weeks ago on here that I thought City would not slip up until the Villa game, and by Odin it is going to come true.

So tomorrow night in Castle Kess there will be cries of

    COME ON VILLA

But one way or the other, it has been a cracking season to be a Liverpool supporter, and as a regular match goer it has been one of the most enjoybale I have had .

    Again thanks.

Now back to football, playground, banter, pandas, saps...etc etc

It's been such a crazy season that I wouldn't quite rule out a Villa win and us to snatch it!

Sometimes a teams name is on a trophy, sometimes it's fate, sometimes it's meant to be....
This title race is far from over. I'll still be shouting my brains out on Sunday when there's something to be played for.

Lads, we are in a title race and it's going bang right down to the last hour of the season.
I was sat in the Ataturk stadium at half time in a champions league final in 2005, and still hoped. Where's there's life, there's hope, where there's sport, there's unpredictability. That's what makes it so beautiful.
We've had knocks and we've had unbelievable highs, and there'll be plenty more of both in the future. We can still do this.

Incredibly frustrating, that. What on earth was Skrtel doing for the 3rd goal?

On the positive side, Gerrard's slip now won't be the sole reason we threw away the title (is that a positive?). And to be optimistic, we were always relying on Man City to slip up anyway -- now we 'just' need them to lose instead of draw.

If we want to talk about what cost us the league, we also really need to look at Henderson's red at the end of the City game. You'd have to think he could have made the difference in both the Chelsea and Palace games.

It's hard to criticise Rodgers considering all he's done this season, but the best coaches are able to compromise their own beliefs in order to gring out results -- something we just didn't do in the last two games. Contrast that to Pelligrini telling Aguero to go down injured against Everton, and Dzeko rolling around on the ground for 6 or 7 minutes in the same game. More than anybody, he has to take some lessons from this run-in.

Aside from that, I hope Rodgers can focus on the defence and midfield in the summer. A settled back four is a must, and hopefully his coaching can rub off on them.
