So? If i ate 2000 calories of mars bars i'd still be under my calories intake. Does it mean its healthy? No.

In fairness I don't think the problem is with the type of food that the op is eating. If everyday was like the one he posted he would be losing weight, the problem is he probably is eating more than he listed and the calories he showed for each food look a little off.

Out of interest, what level of activity are you doing 3-5 days a week?

    yes 3 to 5 days

Ah yes I know that. I was just hammering home the point that just because he's eating less than his calorie goal doesn't mean it's healthy.

But as other posters have pointed out , calorie intake less than calorie requirement equals weight loss.

You come across as frustratingly stubborn and defensive!

If you want to lose weight it's not the cans of coke are the problem, that diet is really poor.

You mentioned at the start that you are burnt out after the gym. I'd be burnt out too if I ate just toast, cheese and an apple between breakfast and dinner!

Lose the attitude and decide for yourself whether you are serious about addressing your issues! I'd normally applaud an you taking steps to sort their health out by the way but you seem to have the blinkers on.

But you've said yourself that it's not working. Are you open to trying something different?

How is what you've posted there different to how you were eating before you decided to try loose some weight?

What are you doing on those days is what I was asking.

    On average?

Because there are likely a couple of things going on here: you've overestimated your activity level and you think you should be losing more weight because you think you're well inside the threshold.

But you're probably also underestimating how much you've eaten.

You're losing weight, which is something at least. But you'll need to be more accurate and/or honest with yourself when it comes to food intake. Relying on what calories you burn in the gym isn't the way to get things in order.

They were only small roast potatoes, like the size of two potato wedges together

Spending an hour in the gym is one thing.

What you do in that hour is another.

There are times I've gone to the gym and spent 30 of the 60 minutes I was there lying down foam rolling...

What are they made with? Butter? Duck fat? What do you eat those stuff with? Generous amount of red/brown sauce? Mayo? How many spoons of sugar in the many cups of tea? Your diet isn't the best and you are probably under estimating the calories intake.

I do about 45 to 50 minutes cardio and 10 minutes weights.

Glad you put up your diet Brian. After reading the comments I thought some of the posters were going to have a stroke. Phew.

I'd give a bit more time over to weights. You won't get anything of any consequence done in ten minutes.

    What does the cardio involve?

But ultimately, it comes back to diet. You have to err on the side of caution when you're counting calories and not get into "well, they're only small" and add in a small quantity for what you've eaten. If you underestimate, you'll overeat.

Switch that around to 45 mins of weights and 10 mins of cardio.
Focus on compound lifts and listen to the lads regarding posting up your average weekly diet, you can only benefit from it.

Brian Brian Brian. There are some very smart chaps in here when it comes to fitness. I find sometimes people get better diet advice in here for free than theyd get paying a fitness trainer.
You are eating more than you realise.
If counting calories doesnt work for you keep a food diary and a scales in your kitchen. Weigh yourself each morning and log what you eat.
If weightloss is too slow eat less.
I just stop eating bread with my normal food amounts whenever I start gaining weight. I can do this from trial and error and consistency.(I dont replace the bread=less calories).
Its not unheard of for a large fella to drop a kilo a day at times.

    The scales dont lie.

Up the weights less cardio. Get yourself a good program and diet plan and stick to it. I weighed 14st 8 back in Nov, I am now 13st even. I do no cardio whatsoever. I gym 3 times a week half hour sessions of intense weight training.

As an aside, people here want to help.

Losing weight is 80-90% diet so when you appeared to be refusing to put up your diet, people get frustrated because it appears that you want the answers without giving people an insight into what you might be able to change in order to get the results you want.

Lose the attitude, mate. Nobody here has to help you but we're trying.

Don't come looking for advise and then moan when it's not the advise you want to hear.

No, it's because it's impossible for us to give you the help you're seeking without knowing the facts.

It looks to me as though you're underestimating your calorie intake. Aside from that, you're eating a lot of bad foods.

Do more weights, less cardio, and cut down on the white carbs. I'd start weighing your food, too. IIt'll give you a more accurate count of calories.

    Brian,

That comment is aimed at me. You've misrepresented what I said. I said you appear frustrating and defensive, I didn't call you annoying. 'appear' being an important word. If you think I'm rude, fine.

I made my comment because you avoided outlining your diet and, when you did outline it, it was with comments to the effect that basically nobody should suggest you eat brown bread instead of white etc. Then you came across as basically not caring if your diet was poor, you are happy with the calories being less each day than you need, but you started all this by saying you are burnt out in the gym.

    I don't know, to me that's stubborn!

I'd suggest cutting out the huge dinner, gravy goose fat potatoes etc (although if this is a Sunday treat of sorts that's different provided the rest of the weeks dinners aren't like this ). I'd suggest actually eating more for both breakfast and lunch, try get some proteins and fats in. A boiled egg, a few avocados etc. There's lots of good advice in the sticky part.

Now, I tried to be helpful but if that's rude then farewell and good luck to you.

I don't have an attitude mate, thank you very much and I am not moaning either. Thank you.

Can I suggest two things that might help you?

First, buy a kitchen scales if you don't have one already.

The sign up to MyFitnessPal and start weighing, measuring and logging everything. For instance you should be measuring how much milk you're putting in your tea and how much butter you're putting on your toast. Input everything into MFP and see how you get on.

When I started losing weight I was shocked at how badly I was estimating the size of most portions. I was also shocked how the calories added up when I didn't accurately measure the butter on my toast, sugar in my tea or even the oil I used while cooking.
