Only one guy was it, wow, ya fair play for his work all this time,
Bit of a shock, its come so quick after Zues release,
build 23 final build, patches the heartbleed bug, requires a full flash, but you can re-apply backed-up settings.

Id be interested to hear in other people's experiences with other vu duo specific images

I did not need a full flash for 23. STB just updated from 22 to 23.

    Official statement re vix support.
"First of all Thank you all for the very nice and even the not so nice comments regarding the future of ViX ( yep there were certain people throwing street parties at the thought that we had decided to stop development ).

Officially OpenViX Zeus build 023 is the final image in the Zeus image line, due to a recent merge with the latest Open Embedded Zeus's time was numbered, as it was simply no longer possible to online update without causing a whole raft of issues, so we retired him and OpenViX Helios was born.

Not to worry though, Helios wont stay in beta for long, and we fully expect to release in a day or two at the most, last but not least, this time you can use a settings backup from Zeus when setting up Helios.

    more details to follow shortly."

We never said ViX was ending, only that Zeus was, every one else filled in the blanks on their own. so we ran with it.

    OpenVix Helios 001 out

    http://www.world-of-satellite.com/enigma2/openvix/index.php?dir=Vu%2BDuo/
OpenViX Helios requires a full reflash, you can use a settings backup taken from OpenViX Zeus this time (but not from OpenViX 3.0 or earlier).

So what is different in OpenViX Helios then?

As with OpenViX Zeus the main difference is core of the image or the OE (Open Embedded), this has undergone a lot of changes, updates and fixes (including fixes for the heartbleed bug in openssl). As a user you should not notice any differences between OpenViX Zeus and OpenViX Helios. (i.e. there are no real functional differences.)

OpenViX Zeus build 023 will be the final build in the Zeus series, and so Helios takes over the reins.

But why a new image so soon, you just launched Zeus?

Basically the recent update of the image OE (Open Embedded) to v 2.1, was very significant. This contains substantial changes and updates that mean you cannot use the online update feature from OpenViX Zeus build 023. Rather than asking users not to use the online update function, we have taken the step of changing the image name to ensure that users perform a fresh flash.

There is nothing in the image that could affect clones except the hardware drivers as produced by Vu+ but at this moment in time no one really knows what's killing the Vu+ clones, but assuming it to be drivers.

I can say this though, it is not any thing put in there by the image teams and this does affect all images, although some are reporting more cases that others but that can be explained by the shear popularity of said image.

As i say people are assuming this to be a Vu+ counter measure, but i have it on good authority from Vu+ that it is not, so where else could it come from if not the images or drivers ?. how about the cloners them selves ?, it certainly would not be the first time the Chinese have put profit above all else and why not, no one is going to think it's something they would do them selves.

If you use Saorview on your Vu then you can help contribute to the image by having a look here
    http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?t=37322

Basically when you add the frequencies for your transmitter, it makes it easier in future to do an automatic scan, only on those couple of frequencies actually needed by your nearest transmitter (instead of all frequencies possible by all of Europe)

yup we also have a similar project in operation for cable providers too, more info can be provided if required.

Sony playtv would be the best/cheapest option right now for saorview on a vu+ solo, yes?

I have to set one up for someone with FTA UK channels and saorview using the Sky skin on ViX. Is there a firmware I will need to download for it to work? Never used a DVB-T tuner before so I am a little unsure!

"Glad to say playtv is now working perfect on vix from build 740. It was an issue with all images using vu+ drivers from 03/09 as in adding transcoding ability to usb tuners they also broke the driver for some like dib0700. New drivers by vu+ to fix this from yesterday included in vix build 740 now work a charm.simply install dib0700 under drivers in plugin menu and on restart you will have two extra dvbt tuners :-)"

this was posted by give credit in another post. i never got round to using vix so not had a look at plugins. I use BH= blackhole and sony tv works perfect.

i have a week off in may so may try vix then along with others

I just looked at what I record 95% FTA and I think I will keep the DUO and get rid of Sly.
€1000 extra towards the holiday fund and get outside more..

    Maybe netflix for the catchups.

Totally agree. For me, I use it for FreeSat and Soarview, and it's one of the best combos out there.

Not sure if the Sony Play TV will pick up UK channels as it is for DVB T2 only which is what Saorview uses. Double check that though... I use it to pick up Saorview and it works great on the Duo2. Running latest VIX Helios.

Even if it can work with the UK standard, you will need to be near enough the north to pick up from transmitters up there such as Enniskillen. Should work fine in Cavan, Monaghan and surrounding areas.

I thought saorview used dvb-t,or does that and dvb-t2 both pick up saorview?

It will only pick up the Irish stations (DVBT)

    Also, from Wikipedia:
Sony has stated that PlayTV is incompatible with the UK Freeview HD, as it uses the DVB-T2 standard.
