The Sky HD skin on VIX combined with the Picons and all that jazz make the boxes so much better!

If you haven't switched yet, do it.

    www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?34803-Blue-HD-V2

Download the .rar. Just looking through the thread and the latest build of the skin is available for download on the last page.
    http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?34803-Blue-HD-V2&p=272323&viewfull=1#post272323

FTP the extracted .ipk file to the /tmp folder using dreambox control center or another FTP program and install via blue button > vix > install local extension. You can probably put the .ipk on a USB stick as well but I didn't install it that way.

i've installed it but removed it immediately since on my solo2 the gui runs very slowly with this skin installed

New OpenViX Zeus image released :-)

    http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?36140-Vix-s-Zeus-release!

    Images
So what is different in OpenViX Zeus then ?

The main difference is core of the image or the OE (Open Embedded); this has undergone a lot of changes, updates and fixes. As a user you should not notice any differences between OpenViX 3.0 and OpenViX Zeus. (i.e. there are no real functional differences. But as the last release is now over 3 months ago, several updates have been implemented).

    Features

    AutoBouquetsMaker ( ABM )
Allows you to setup and automate the process of creating and maintaining a region specific channel bouquets for Sky (UK), Freesat (UK) and Sky Ireland (plus some European providers)

    VIX EPG (includes CrossEPG 0.7.4)
Quite simply, OpenViX offers the best EPG experience of any Enigma2 based image bar none !!
Includes Graphical EPG, Text mode, Infobar EPG and Bouquet list graphical EPG modes

    Video Playback
All EPG screens are now available while watching a recording, for easy switching back to live TV or setting timers.

    Channel Selection
Support added to change font sizes and number of rows.
Support added to have a 3rd event showing (Skin dependent)
Support added to display start time and end time for all events shown.

    Quick PiP-ZAP
Support added to open PiP directly via long-Up/Down. Also zapping in PiP can be done via long CH+/-.

    EPG Selection
Added help screen to all epg selection screens.
Added support to change font sizes and number of rows.

    Language Selection
Added English (UK) to available languages.

    Translations
    Added support for English (UK).

    Sorting
You may now sort Menus, Settings and Plugin Browsers alphabetically.

    Network Browser
    Uses less memory duringscan.
Moved to new Setup Mounts screen.

    Openwebif
New style webif now accessed using default port 80
Old style webif still available if required for use with certain PC signal meters and Fancontrol 2

    About Screen
    Added network info.

    Plugins
As part of streamlining the image, removed NFS, AFP, Samba, OpenVPN, Inadyn, MiniDLNA & uShare from default image (can now be installed/de-installed through Network setup screen)

    On Screen Hints
Now available as options are selected.

    Instant Record
From channel list, EPG or current channel.

    Enhanced Movie List Features
It is now optional to play next movie, when a movie reaches the end. Configure in menu of movie selection screen.

    Known issues
Crossepg bug when running XEPGDB and XMLTV within Crossepg. The software will not successfully download data from these sources due to incompatibility of crossepg and newer libraries within OE2.

    Button Mappings

Short Red** & *** - Show current channel EPG info (ViX Single EPG).
Long Red ** & *** - Sort single EPG info when in channel list.
    Short Green** & *** - Timers.
    Long Green*** - AutoTimer Timers.
    Short Yellow*** - EPG Search.
Long Yellow*** - Instant IMDB Database search on the current programme.
    Short Blue - Extensions.
    Long Blue*** - Plugins Menu.
    EPG - Opens ViX EPG.
    Left/Right** - Opens ViX QuickEPG.
    Left/Right** - Opens ViX QuickEPG.
Up/Down** - Open Full Screen Channel List.
TV Button** - Open Full Screen Channel List.
Long TV Button - Open Bouquets List.
** Can be changed in ViX Menu
*** Can be turned off in ViX Menu

    Special Thanks

Rytec - for his continued support.
    Ocram for his Picon sets
All developers for their plugins used in the feeds of this image.
All of the ViX Beta team for their hours of testing and dedication on getting this image working.

    Note:
Not all 3rd party plugins have been tested or are guaranteed to be compatible.

    Requests
If anyone is interested in doing any translation work for the plugins and the image itself, please contact either Andyblac or Sicilian

Just installed it and it works on Zeus

But I have no Picons; how do you add the Picons to it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,511 ✭✭✭stanley1

put picons in folder named picon on usb stick, not sure, but you might have to format to ex3 linux.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,325 ✭✭✭✭Tony

Is there a similar skin for black hole by any chance ?

FYI I posted a guide on how to set up a VPN server on Vix here:

    http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?36336-Guide-to-setting-up-an-OpenVPN-server-on-Vix

The same instructions should work for any recent Enigma2 based image.

    They've killed off OpenVix :(

No more development, Zeus 023 final build.

Bad news, I dont like BH, no where near as simply laid out or as intuitive as OpenVix.

It had to come at some stage I suppose.

Heavily dependant on one person is always a risk (Andy).

Not good new for their site sponsor. Most of his sales came through VIX / Zeus users me thinks...

Whats the next best image... Used Openpli in the past on other boxes and found it OK...

Only one guy was it, wow, ya fair play for his work all this time,
Bit of a shock, its come so quick after Zues release,
build 23 final build, patches the heartbleed bug, requires a full flash, but you can re-apply backed-up settings.

Id be interested to hear in other people's experiences with other vu duo specific images

  • Registered Users Posts: 532 ✭✭✭dfdream

There were others involved but Andy was the driving force for development from the start..

With no official notice the rumours will begin. With it so close to the new release (zeus) its either a big bustup, personal reasons or big brother putting pressure (tv companies).

023 does not patch the heartbleed bug. We were waiting for build 024 for that! Looks like we might never get that in Vix...

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,384 ✭✭✭irishgeo

has openpli fixed the heartbleed bug?

no, so far only the OE-Alliance teams who have moved over to OE-A v2.1 have fixes in place for the heart bleed bug.

Fair enough, I thought I saw them post on twitter it did, cant find the tweet now, its been deleted

eta, I read it here, ya post build, I see now, sorry for the confusion :)
    IMPORTANT UPDATE POST BUILD 023.

Andy is currently merging the latest OpenEmbedded which will update the build environment to Oe-Alliance version 2.1.

This update fixes the Openssl heartbleed bug among other things and will require a full reflash, although this time you will be able to use a settings backup from your existing OpenViX Zeus image once you have flashed the new Image to save time.

More details will be posted as and when they become available.
