He's back in training on a state of the art threadmill.
Anti-gravity they are turning him into the 6 million dollar man

Surely a genetically modified superhuman like Enrique is obviously becoming would not be allowed to play ? Other clubs would scream about our unfair advantage .

Not good i'd say. He tends to be slow recovery wise from an injury.

I'm airing on the side of that belief too. For any other footballer, you'd say 'no news is good news' but for Sturridge, I'd say 'no news is bad news'

He's come back from his last two injuries earlier than expected I'm quite sure!

I think you need to see video footage of him coming off to see what his movement was like so you could make up your mind on the injury .

Not saying for sure either way, just saying we don't know!

He plays so much FIFA, he could already be considered part machine...

Id love to see Borini come out wear a YNWA armband vs. City. Just to let them know that he means business.

Imagine the atmosphere if we met them in the Champions League final next year.

    Last nights game in Germany.

Moments like that are the reason I love soccer. As commercial and sometimes dishonest the game has become, passion like this from fans for the memory of their fellow supporters makes it all still very special.

I think Liverpool's is almost more so.

Atletico were 3rd and 5th the last two seasons.
    Liverpool were 7th and 8th.

Barcelona/Real are stronger than City/Chelsea/Arsenal/United, but there is more depth at the top end of the Premier League.

Both would be outrageous achievements though. Hopefully both can hold on.

Yeah but finishing 3rd or 4th in Spain in recent years has meant being about as far away from first as finish 7th or 8th in England (and that's no exaggeration - the year we had our horror league season under Kenny finishing 8th, Atleti and Malaga were battling it out for a CL spot with a similar points tally). Atleti were no closer to the league that season than we were under Kenny.

What I meant in my post is that Liverpool probably wouldn't be too far down this list (top 20 probably?). We are overachieving with regards to our resources but we are far from paupers.

To give a rough idea, according to that table City (the top spending team) spend roughly 50% more than us on wages - certainly a huge amount, but not at all comparable to the financial gulf that separates Atleti from the top two in Spain.

In Spain, Real Madrid are spending roughly 3 times (200%) more on wages than Atleti.

From a very crude mathematical perspective it could be argued that Atletis achievements are about 4 times more unbelievable than ours. They have had to overcome the same financial obstacles as us times 4 (200% gap as opposed to 50% gap - really rough calculations, don't hold me to any of this exactly).

It really is David and Goliath stuff.

I'm taking nothing away from Rodgers/FSG/Liverpool's achievement which is phenomenal, but we're only punching a couple of rungs above our weight.

Atleti situation is like a flyweight taking out Mike Tyson, they win the overachievers award in Europe hands down this year.

All media outlets have been warned by the inquest judge not to report anything that could prejudice the proceedings. I think BBC showed a delayed feed so they could cut anything out that might do this. Sky should probably have done likewise.

A few guys made this point. I wasn't aware, thanks for clarifying.

A delayed feed would have been wise considering, it just didn't come across that way from sky. Personally I find their coverage distasteful at such events.

I didn't know 30 for 30 were doing a Hillsborough episode. I'll watch that tonight, nice one.

Rodgers now has 92 points over the last 38 games, never been done in the PL era by Liverpool. His win percentage and ppg (remember when we used to be so focused on that) is now better than Rafa's:

And seeing spending was brought up:http://basstunedtored.com/2014/04/08/its-a-rich-mans-world-2014/

I suppose we've spent a fortune in the last 5/6 years but also sold the most barring Spurs with the Bale money. Torres, Alonso, Mascherano, Kuyt, the 08/09 team was rebuilt, with Carroll and Downing prolonging the process.

It doesn't really matter what's been spent in the last 5/6 years when considering Rodgers achievements to date.

It's only fair to consider what Rodger's has spent in his time which is very little when outgoings are accounted for.

When he took over, we were the 8th best team in the League and now he somehow has us sitting at the top of the League with very little resources invested.

I suppose we had to rebuild again and correct the money wasted on Carroll and Downing in particular (yep he nearly sold Henderson but loaning out and then selling Carroll was a huge call for a new manager).

He's spent roughly £85 Million if I'm right, sold about £30 Million with various loans in and out as well.

It's 'only' 87 points but still a great record. If we win our last 4 he will increase that to 89 points.

    So approximately £50m.

It's not much, when one considers that most of the teams that were above us when we finished 8th have spent similar amounts or more.

And our wage bill has gone down massively in that time.

Kuyt, Maxi, Bellamy, Aurelio, Carroll, Downing, Aquilani, Cole and Doni - these players represent about £35 million a year in wages

Norwich are 9/4 to get a win or draw at the weekend.

    Banker of the season.

Net spend and wages, I miss the old days! ;)

It's some turn around from the dying days of H&G, courts and Hodgson, hell even from when Rodgers was appointed.

Norwich getting a result would be just typical, everybody worried about Chelsea and Palace and they nick a point.

Sturridge might be available for Norwich:

    Just a small strain.
