Agreed! I definitely thought there was scope for them to at least hit 40 at the tail end of last year! Remember how long it bloody took Glanbia to give us the price increases last year, at one stage all the price increase was was a "hardship fund" ffs! Why should us farmers be bent over a barrel by the processors the second there is a dip in the world price!

There will be no bother dropping the price. Every dairy farmer is talking it down since it went to 39c.

Should of been well into the forties to reflect the world market.

The bit of competition will help keep it steady for this year.

There is a dip in the market yet no talk of a drop. We the farmers are now talking it down. I think a price rise or pressure for one will only cause a problem. The buyers will only substitute ingredients if we price too high.

I'd prefer to see it continuing at this level after a dip rather than putting pressure on buyers at this stage

Only problem is we had a high TBC a few weeks back.

    SCC is some hard battle.
We've spent years after it and this is the first year in ten that it constantly below 100

Hardship here for the last few weeks aswell. I think we're getting there, recording on Tues should tell a lot. I would love to do sooner but didn't ring in time.

Have ye ever tried using a different dip in parlour?
The bugs can get resistant to the same spray I think

Chronic problem here 2 years ago, thankfully cleared up now..scc average so far this year 82.i was just shy of rejection in November 2012.changed a few things and I feel the obe big thing is my milking routine.i don't draw cows or even o near their teats before milking ,just cups on .if one is very dirty I wash her and dry off with individual piece of towel for each quarter..check filter after every milking for clots and make good use of milk records to cull or treat repeat offenders..after that same as everyone else, wear gloves, service machine ,spray after milking.another good piece of advice is to get a milk sensitivity and culture test done to figure out exactly what type of bugs ur dealing with and what tubes will and won't work

    Love that post
Real simple good practices make a big difference. Nothing on filter here either. We did a great job last year but I think the workload this spring got the better if us and we just took our eye off the ball.

Will record Tues, CMT hi ladies to identify quarter. We will then do sensitivity test and treat. Any cow that was trouble last year is for the chop. It's just frustrating waiting for recorder my own fault for not contacting in time. Should be back on track in 10 days, luckily no where near rejection and has actually fallen with the last 2 collections

I think the way clusters are taken off too has abig part to play.
I hate when the father comes into parlour and starts taking off clusters, he just tanks them off and I try tell him but ye can't change his ways.
I shut off vaccum and pull one cup off when vac has dropped a bit.
I have more cases of mastitis since I started taking over milking but I have a much lower SCC.
He was always in a hurry too so that's a factor too.
Never enough time to do everything and too tired to do it better
