The last two payments of my direct debits for my insurance never went through. Should I ring up the company and tell them? It is usually paid on the 30 or 31st of each month. At first I thought the company were confused in February as it is only 28 days, but then the end of March has not gone through either.

We're you on a 10 month payment plan perhaps?

They have probably not changed over to SEPA payments yet. Even though its not your fault, i would call them anyway. If you were to have an accident, they will usually use any reason they can to avoid paying out.
'you have missed 2 direct debits sir, so your policy is void' could be the first thing you hear after calling to register a claim.

When was your renewal date? Did you renew?

Last year I paid in a lump sum. This year funds were low so I went with direct debit. So this year I paid a small lump sum and suppsoedly 10 payments throughout the year. They took 3 and there should be 5. I will ring them tomorrow. I know it's nice for me to think I can spend that money as they did not take it, but I know that will not happen, as they will come looking for the money, so best ring them and get it over and done with and also find out why payments didn't go through.

Car failed the NCT for the front passenger dipped headlight apparently pointing to the left. I went and parked the car against a wall, and it looks perfect, nothing is off in the headlight at all. Bulb is secure, and not pointing off.

Still raging that it could fail on something so ridiculous. I know that image isn't of much use...

Looks wrong alright... Silly question but are the bulbs sitting flush?

There shouldn't be a gap in the middle.

Have you different colour bulbs either side?

AXA by any chance? Got a letter today saying they didn't collect a payment due to a fault on their end and would collect it in the next ten days. Funny thing is, they haven't missed any payments.

No I'm with Martin Insurance they are a broker but they have out sourced the direct debits to a UK company Premium credit.

Seem to be sitting flush, will have to make absolutely sure I guess. Looked and felt fine to me.

One of the bulbs is most likely a different brand. Might change them for Osrams or something.

Also make sure theyre in the right way. There are also two adjusters you can play with. I have two marks on my shed from my fathers cars on our shed the last couple of years, theres a slant and a straight line for the bulb.

    \_____ \_____

If you put a car that you know is aligned and then put yours up you csm gauge. Ive never failed an NCT with that.

Quick non motoring question, I've furniture left in my house and need to remove it to a dump. Whats the best way of doing this? Hire a van for a few hours or is it possible to get a man with a van cheaper?

    Adverts for free or donedeal

Would you have enough to justify a skip?

Anyone recommend paintless dent removal in Louth? I've a second dent in as many weeks, can't park the bloody car anywhere!

No but seeing as noone else can, I went and found these guys, hope it helps :D

Got rid of everything good for free. I'm left with couches and trash furniture now and I need to remove it myself to a dump.

Just looking at hiring a van now, I'd either have to take it for a few days or have my licence for 11 years which seems mad

Too much bulky items really. A load or two in a transit would take everything down to Ballymount Civic Amenity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,536 ✭✭✭✭L-M

Is it seriously muck or are you just speculating because there are people who will take anything

Ahh, well I'd rather hiring out your own van then, can do the work in your own time and your own way. Not sure how insurance works on them though, if it's just a simple transfer or what.. Sure price them both and see :)

I had my eyes opened when I put the stuff up online last Sunday. Some absolute dung was in high demand. I'm left with well used old beds and broken couches and lazy boys now. Proper trash.

Just spotted that Hertz do a Trafic van for €80 which would take it all in one load. Hopefully that'll be the job.

It seems that the going rate is 80 euro a day to hire a van. As we were looking as we are moving house which I have to say is a seriously difficult experience. I've never moved house in my life and it's getting rid of so much stuff and rubbish is the pain. To make the whole thing worse we are doing up the house we are moving into our selves direct labour. Have to be in in 3 weeks and 1st fix electrical was only finished today absolute building sure at the moment could be a hard month.

Anyway on to the important thing. Enjoyed my first full day with the golf today I really can't find fault with it anywhere. And my mother was in it today and the vanity mirrors on the sun visors have lights over them so that makes it a winner for her anyway :) . It seems to have a hell of a lot of stuff on it that even the 11 elegance octavia doesn't have which is mad.
