Yes, after few of those you're being "punished" and cannot spot for few seconds. In my opinion it also slows down your ability to tap fire

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,038 ✭✭✭✭Sparks

To be honest, I've never noticed being punished, because if you win the firefight with (say) a DMR and trigger it, it runs out before you meet the next bunch of targets :D

And if you're using a shotgun properly, you just click once anyway ;)

It does impact on your burst-fire if you switch back to assault rifles/carbines/LMGs, but you had to jump out to the kit screen anyway to do that, so just unbind there.

But most of the time, I just don't bother; the spread on bursts over three shots does more harm to my game than the limiting the binding puts on your burst size does. At least this way, my AEK doesn't run out of ammo 30 seconds after I spawn :D

The way most support players drop ammo and most assault players drop health, you might as well just unbind the comrose key for all the good it does you :D

I am the opposite, there are moments I'm using Q more often that fire button
I'm the same, especially on the recon class as it helps the aim slightly for me if I'm far ish away and trying to find people to shoot in the face with my big gun.

I'm forever spotting people, vehicles etc, don't like the "cooldown" period for spotting, it's like they don't want you doing it.

A good example of gameplay not being used because of lack of teamplay is the whole "scout class" spotting ability. Bugger all people use it despite it being very very effective. They dont use it because someone ELSE gets the benefit regardless of the TEAM benefit is has (not to mention the personal score for them). I am always playing an Engineer and its like freakin' christmas morning if someone actually spots a tank for me. I am quite literally shocked and delighted. :)

If by spotting you are talking about the " enemy spotted " from the recon class then I haven't really noticed that that much BUT if you mean recon classes ability to lock sh1t up then we have discussed this before here . I go engineer and there is never anyone locking stuff up , I go recon class and lock everything up and ............... no one ever fires at it , even in squads , even if I announce it squad say or team say .... multiple times . I have stopped carrying the SRAW now and gone back to the RPG .

Carrier Assault mode gameplay...shows the inside of the ships etc.

Wavebreaker and Operation Mortar look frickin' awesome.

    Jacks thoughts on it:

Liking the look of it so far, except for the huge problem that jack mentions with Carrier Assault. Once the last mcom is planted & blows up the round just ends. :( A lot of the fun with Titan mode was trying to escape the ship before it exploded

I have to say I wasnt really enthused by Naval Assault when I heard about it... but from seeing the new maps and the new hover boats, it looks pretty freakin' awesome. (if they can manage not to break the code with it any more than it already is).

Yeah thats exactly it. Its the most basic of gameplay interaction between two players in a game which SHOULD be all about that. But no one does it. And as you say, no one spots and no one carries the required rocket launchers as a result, so it self-reinforces.

I play with a bunch of mates with the [L2PN] tag. Its a joke between us because none of us are particularly brilliant players but we use Skype to chat while playing and form a squad in-game all the time. We almost always get the top-squad ribbon simply because we operate as a team and communicate. Its... almost like cheating its so effective.

But in the end, we just run from capture point to capture point capping and moving on because the rest of our team are usually freakin' idiots and cant be relied upon (or communicated with) to do anything but rush like lemmings around the place. </rant> :)

Same here and without messing up the game for other we have a great laugh playing the game the way it is supposed to be played .

And in another game that we used to play we were accused of cheating ..... for using teamspeak ! by some young pup no doubt .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,387 ✭✭✭✭DeVore

Yep, we've been accused of cheating along the lines of "but how did you know I was there!!?" .... well, my buddy spotted you heading this direction and told me. duh! :)

i think to really get the value of the whole recon / engineer team, you'd need to be playing with 2 full squads, its hard to expect someone to sit on a hill just spotting targets with the mav or using the soflam. Its definitely something that wont happen without a bit of organisation.

I was rather hoping the BRDS lads would do that, but between teamspeak crashing on me 90% of the time and nobody talking over the in-game VOIP.... :(

I spot TOO much (1250 spot ribbons), if ever there was such a thing. Was live streaming last week and someone asked me what a certain sound was, and I told them that it was the sound of 'spotting' in game. I was then asked to stop :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,163 ✭✭✭✭danniemcq

I really should get my headset working properly for a better chance at squad based quality. Those times when you spawn in and find a squad that isn't full of people all seperated over a map, no communication, no squad orders, nothing no matter how much you request just annoys the feck outta me.

But then those games, those games when things just click, you seem to know what the others are doing before they do, you supply them, you cover them, you revive them, you cover corners and you look out for each other.

Those games.... sigh I wish there was more

If I get revived one more time in the middle of a freakin' firefight...

Boy, I'm cranky about BF today lol!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 321 ✭✭DeWinterZero

I have on occasion revived someone as a distraction and then charged in as they die again.

However it's annoying to be revived in the open by someone who is just interested in points. I also really dislike the punishment of the respawn time starting all over again.

There are many, many ways to teamkill you, you know :)

I wouldn't mind that so much, if it wasn't for the point that that seems to happen even when you refuse the revive...

I much prefer the personal delivery of a jeep to your teamkill victim, full speed, hop out last second see team mate get roadkilled by empty jeep, get hatemail shortly after.

    Winning :D:D
