There's a stand alone but from what I gather it's very beta at the moment so they're pretty different experiences. Might as well jump on the standalone I suppose it's not nearly as fully featured but it's going to be the one under continued development from now on. Less cheating going on as well hopefully. I kind of want to try Day Z but it sounds like the kind of thing you need two or three hours to play uninterrupted and I don't have a chance to do that much these days.

Definitely give it a go. I've long since fallen out of love with online gaming but Day Z is an entirely different thing altogether. It's amazing.

Just wish I had the time to dedicate to playing it!

I love a time sink but I can only do one at a time. Gotten back into playing Supreme Commander competitively in the last year and the skill level is insane compared to back at launch (where I was hovering around 150 in the world at my peak). I'm starting to get good again but it's taking 20 hours a week!

It's on sale for €2.50 on Steam at the moment by the way. Incredible community, they've continued to rebalance and refine the game for the last 3 years. Built an really slick multiplayer client. Autopatching and map downloading. Switches all the mods for you on the fly. If you like RTS games it's really the don dada. The automatch system is great as well if you're new to the game you can just play other new people and not get stomped. Loads of Irish players on there as well. Total Biscuit picked it out as his #1 game recommendation this week. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gizVo7bOcF8&t=12m27s

Played a bit if Mario Sunshine last night.
Wow, but that game hasn't aged at all.
Not likely but a VC or HD release on the WiiU world be welcome.

Mutant Fighters, I used to love this game when I was 12, this was out around the same time as Street fighter 2 world warrior and I really loved the monster design and special moves, all the voices bar the female one are voiced by the same guy which was so weird. And any one that has finished this will know what I mean when I quote "MAAAGGIC!!"

Actually threw myself into Dark Souls just now.
    Still died a bit :(
Bloody amubush by ghosts in the New Londo Ruins, feckers...
Oh, then I tried to get clever... You can guess how that ended...

I got stuck on that part actually, had lots done before that though.

You need to use items that put a temporary curse on you before you head into new Londo. It's one of the last places I usually visit in the game.

What's wrong with it? I used to repair these in my spare time so I could probably give you a hand...

Yup. The ghosts aren't that difficult to kill once you're leveled up enough/have a decent weapon you just have to be very slow and methodical so too many don't spawn at once and swarm you. It's still kind of frustrating though because it's easy fall off platforms and then you have to go through it all again very slowly.

E74 error, Think I might just go down to CEX or something and get a second hand elite and work away. For the price of one of them with a few trade ins aswell shouldn't be too much

I can fix that for you though, I wouldn't want anything in return for a fellow arcade and retro nut! :-)

Finished Luar Silver Star Harmony on the PSP. First time I finished any version of this game. I felt the Working Design localizations are the game too difficult ad therefore annoying since you had to grind.

Lots to love about the game. It's just so upbeat and cheerful with a great localisation. It's just a load of fun with very likeable characters and a world away from the angsty square Enix stuff. It feels like a Saturday morning cartoon. The story really shifts up a gear towards the end as well.

Now the bad. The battle system takes too long and can become a bit of a chore. It feels like a prototype version of Grandia but where Grandia was super fast and all about affecting turn order which had tonnes of depth, this one is more about just using your best skills and hope the random turn order doesn't favour the enemy.

Still it made me pine for the days when people still made unpretentious and fun RPGs like this and really makes me want to play Grandia again.

I went to check the price of Megadrives Probotector on Ebay, holy crap! Theres two complete copies of the game advertised for £100 and £150! When the hell did that game get so expensive? Those are buy it now options, theres also a loose cart for £50 and some more that have to be bid on.

Awesome game, glad I still have my copy

If you look at the sold auctions, they're a lot more sensible thankfully :)

It's still one of the more expensive MD games though.

Has anyone ever been unable to finish a game because it keeps putting them to sleep? :D

Jake Hunter is brilliant, I'm really enjoying it, but the moment I get stuck in, all the reading, saxophone and simulated smoking starts to make me drift off!

I don't have to be tired either. Happened in the middle of the day. Videogame induced narcolepsy.

    All the bloody time.
Everytime I tried to play Skyrim, off I'd drop.
And yet Oblivion and Fallout 3 kept me alert into the wee hours.
    Go figure...

Just clocked Mario 3D World. It really comes together in the final 3rd. The jawdropping beauty of it is worth mentioning too.

I really wanted to pick up a Wii U last month for Mario 3D World, but in the end had to spend the one for all vouchers I was going to use on a couch instead :(

That game just keeps handing out more and more levels to you when you think it's over. I was pretty sure I had beaten it twice two weeks ago. No I realise I'm not even close.

What was supposed to be a

"Man, I haven't played Super Tennis in years, I'll have a quick game to check it out again."

    turned into a

"I gotta win this fùckin' tournament!!

This I'm slowly discovering. It gets nice and difficult thereafter too, which Ninty tend to handle very well. Mario 3D has its Champion's Road to match Galaxy 2's 'so you think you got this stuff down?' The Ultimate Test/The Perfect Run.

I was playing DK Tropical Freeze last night and milled through 20 lives in no time, a challenging game that.
    Beautiful too.

I've started Persona 3 Portable. Now I'm addicted all over again. It really is one of the greatest RPGs ever made. A lot of people complain that it's annoying you can't control your team mates in the regular Persona 3 but I'm not finding it a problem even coming from Persona 4 and have left on the AI (you can turn it off in this one).

Playing as the female protagonist also gives a nice twist to the game although I can across one mistake in the game, near the start They forgot to replace a piece of dialogue from Yukari were she refers to me as a he. It's kind of jarring.

How's it handle the transition from the Wii to Wii-U? Is the fiddly bits like rolling and taking out flowers more intuitive than Returns? No review I've seen mentions it. I'm dying to get stuck into it mesmelf.

Button arrangement on the Pro pad feels odd, I've not played it with the pad.
But it compares well to the previous iterations, both the Wii game and the GC bongo powered title.
A lot of fun, and quite demanding in terms of timing.
