True. Sadly, I think the chances are high that he will start :(

    Hope you're wrong

I wouldn't mind young starting, if it was the sane team vs West Bromwich only Kawgs for Mata and Young for Januzaj

I'd imagine Young will start too, can't see Moyes going for the front four that played vs WBA. If anything like past big games, he's going to start someone who will track back very well, which will be needed against the fast counter attacking that Pool have. Could even mean Valencia starting, it'll depend on which full back he views as needing more help defensively vs one of the forwards.

Rooney could play deeper too, in a 4-5-1/4-3-3 to help out (hopefully) Carrick and Fellaini

He's got to go for it, right? He could save his job between this and the City game. Get a couple of fan pleasing wins and finish out the season strong building some momentum for next year.

The problem comes ( as per usual) if rather than going for it, he tries to just not lose and goes ultra negative.

That early match thread is most welcome, might be bearable in this thread until Sunday.

I actually think Mata could be rested on Sunday for the CL 2nd leg.

Latest rumours involve RVP + cash for Kroos. Hypothetically, how much + RVP would it take to have a bid accepted?

    Bayern have already signed Lewandowski

    Nah no nope

True, but RVP would be a different type striker, wouldn't have as much pace but would have elements to his game that Lewandowski hasn't.

Can't see it happening myself, but if he is to move where does it leave him? Would Real place a bid? PSG if Cavani leaves? Juve?

    Arsenal or Chelsea.

Bayern wouldn't be interested in RVP. In a different era maybe but def'ny not under Pep.
Now I'm not saying ye wouldn't ever get Kroos, cos by the looks of it he really is in danger of overplaying his hand and I can't see Bayern giving in. But on the other hand I grew up with the Bundesliga and I have yet to see a player leave Bayern who they wanted to keep.

Did they want to keep Ballack in 2006?

I think that could be the only time in recent history I can remember them possibly losing a player they wanted to keep.

Manchester United and Toshiba Medical Systems have today officially unveiled a brand new medical facility at the Aon Training Complex, harnessing the cutting edge medical equipment of the club’s official medical systems partner.

    ...

    ManUtd.com

It's good to see benefits other than just financial from commercial partners.

They didn't sell him though. They kept him and Ballack moved on free transfer after his contract was done. I don't remember them selling any player against their wish, maybe only close one was Hargreaves.

I know but the poster was discussing them not 'losing' players that they wanted to keep and not specifically with regard paid transfers.

    Hargreaves is another actually.

If Kroos is the answer to our Man Utd's problems, why did Bayern not start him last night?

Schweinstieger and Thiago would also be answers to our problems. They started instead.

Bayern have an awesome squad, unlike us.

I don't know the exact reason, but for whatever reason they have enough talent in midfield to viably rotate and justifiably leave Kroos on the bench, for at least one game anyway.

They lined out with Robben, Thiago, Schweinsteiger, Gotze, and Ribery. I doubt Wenger was counting his lucky stars Kroos wasn't picked!

I know a lot of people on here have previously said we could sell Kagawa back to BVB or trade him for one of their (other) star players, but with Lewandowski gone and RVP seemingly unhappy I wonder would we be better off offering him to them instead?

NO way they could offer him the wages he would want. Would be pointless to offer him up. If he goes, it will be to PSG or Monaco I would guess - Monaco being a good bet, especially if Falcao leaves.

Seems to be more of a chance than I thought of RVP staying though.

Lads can we petition Moyes to sign Diego Costa?

Quality player but for those that wouldn't want Suarezesque behaviour at United, he's a no go...

Seems the RVP hates Moyes stuff may not be all it is cracked up to be. Nothing concrete on it, just some people admitting the impression they are now getting is thinks aren't near as bad as they are made out.

There almost certainly are and have been issues between the paid, mainly on two issues AFAIK - training and tactics.

RVP now has a more individual training plan (like last year) so that has somewhat solved the training issue - after a 'showdown' between Moyes and RVP before christmas (before he went to holland to rehad an injury with the national team physio).

RVP isn't totally happy, but apparently he was a bit of a dick about training at Arsenal too - and disliked the fact United tackled in training when he started, so RVP being unhappy isn't actually that big a deal.

I think training could basically stay as it is and RVP would be fine as long as the general team approach changes - which I think everyone hopes will be the case with new players signed.

If RVP is playing for United next season I'll hold my hands up - as I have been as big a critic of Moyes as any, and have latched on to the RVP vs Moyes stuff that has been reported and that I have been told.

I still wouldn't be surprised to see RVP go - but I'm now not thinking it is the certainty I thought it was.
