He has learned to settle better since then and is a year older/stronger and also the stronger pace will help him. I don't think you can write off any of the top 5 Champion Hurdle contenders. For me it's not a betting race, it's one to watch and enjoy and watch the best horse on the day come out on top.

well its so close thats why it makes trying to find the winner even better:)

Bit harsh that. I think you need stamina more than speed to win a champion hurdle.

Normally, yes, but this year we are spoiled by horses with very high cruising speed and explosive exceleration, depending on the lineup there could be a queue of horses behind the pacemaker.

Is UDS going to run? That would really spice it up! :D

    Would love UDS to run.

Pace would be madness then, let them off and see what happens.

God when they let up the tape Tuesday it's going to be insane exciting.

Not saying he'd win but by God he'd make it one exciting race to watch!

Un De Sceaux will not run in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham says trainer Willie Mullins. From Racingpost twitter account.

Party pooper, god forbid he would hinder his little pets chance at a third.

Any other trainer in the UK or Ireland and he would be running.

"We will wait a while before deciding on end of season targets for Un De Sceaux"

Looks like Mullins will try his best to make sure UDS is 7 before he has a proper race. I really think his approach is going to backfire on him sooner or later. He's the best trainer in the business but if he's not givng owners a run for their money that wont matter.

    Sad, mad, bad.

UDS owners must be mentally challenged to have a horse like that and not say we want him to step in class at any stage of the season is beyond baffling, he won't mature mentally by being run in low grade races at low grade meetings in small fields.

Handicapped by fear of challenging the most powerful trainer in the land, I'd guess.

Pretty confident statement in regards to HF (that he won't be placed). I wonder if he wins will all y'all be on here saying well done, or will you find yet another excuse to downplay the achievement. Me thinks it will be the former.

Lots were against him on here last year and all praised him when he won.

Fair enough. ;-) I just find the negativity behind HF a bit bizarre. Never mind the British, even the Irish want him beat. Paddy and Willie Mullins have touched on this on numerous occasions. The horse really doesn't get the respect it deserves.

Not 'want' him beat but 'think' he'll be beat. There's a difference. I wouldn't be sad to see the champ win, even if it cost me money.

Don't put words into my mouth.

Where did I say he won't be placed?

It's common knowledge among anyone with an interest in racing the way to get HF beat is a very fast pace round Cheltenham.

I have the upmost respect for the horse who is nigh on unbeatable in Ireland and if he can see off all the top class challengers this year I will probably rank him the greatest 2 mile hurdler I've seen even ahead of Istabraq.

Personally though I don't think he will win this year.

Where you said UDS running would hinder Mullins' "pet" even getting third.

"a" third, as in a third CH,not third as in a place

Any of these young guns have a chance to go chasing in the future?

You'd think TNO and MTOY could make it into Arkle horses. Suppose it'll depend on if they win this or not though..

No doubt he will at some stage but if he wins the CH or goes very close it'd be hard for them to switch him chasing next year

I think The New One is not going to win and will be chasing new season.

No, think TNO will definitely be in the three. Between him and OC for me but jockey sways decision. Would rather have (a) STD than Danny Mullins carrying my money!! :P
