    Almost certaintly :D

    From the holding page:

"With the introduction of Gatekeeper 2, 30,000 accounts were opened in the first two months of this year"

I wonder how many of these were Enigma2 users???

There's a multitude of paid DNS unblocking services, lots of talk about it in the Al Jazeera thread. I'm not sure if the OnDemand plugin will need re-writing, as I believe there's some tunlr-friendly code built into it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,789 ✭✭✭irishgeo

    who wrote the plugin?

Tunnelbear is another free option and allows a 1gb per month for free.

Very little discussion about this goodbye message on the web, initially thought that the site had been hijacked or something....
Will say again 'was good while it lasted.....'

Found an alternative option similiar to tunlr - search for 'unlocator'
It's currently free, but beta, need to sign up and register your wan ip addresss - not sure how long it will last!
You can use the dns addresses on a number of devices - tested mine on a pc with franc2. Also seems to allow you to change your Netfix location.
To get it working with OnDemand plugin, you need to change 'resolver' address in CommonModules.pyo file in OnDemand plugin directory.
I just happened to have this file on my pc (because I changed it before to fix something). Unfortunately I am running a very old version of v*x on my et9x00, so probably not a good idea to post my file here.
Anyone who knows what they are doing should be able to edit the address in the pyo file using Notepad++ (new address has the same number of characters as old).
    WW

EDIT: see next few posts for easier solution
Both dns services listed currently free

No need to edit the plugin. Just sign up for a DNS service such as SmartDNSProxy.com them add the DNS to your network setting on your Vu. Just tried it and BBC iPlayer worked fine.

Can you explain how to do that on VIX please?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,171 ✭✭✭fbradyirl

    In Vix, press

    Menu
    Settings
    Network

And change the Nameserver in there to point to the one recommended by whatever service you signed up for.

Wonder how long these 'free' services will last!!!!!
Nearly sure I tried that before changing my plugin - will reverse it any try again (might not have restarted my network connection after making the change:rolleyes:).

Anyway, simple solution for everyone else.

I signed up to SmartDNS Proxy and did the following but it did not work. What did I do wrong please:

    Menu
    Setup
    System
    Network
    Device setup
    Name server settings
    Press yellow button to Add
Typed in the IP addy. that SmartDNSProxy gave me 188.141.xx.xxx

    Thanks

Just checked the smartdns site and are the proxy address not?
    First DNS : 23.x.x.x
    Second DNS : 54.x.x.x
That 188.x.x.x address you typed in might be your isp wan ip address!
Change the dns addresses to those, save them and do a restart network.

Is it these numbers that you are using:

    Primary DNS : 23.21.43.50
    Secondary DNS : 54.229.171.243

    Yes.
Apologies for not posting the actual addresses or links etc, as I thought the mods here on boards 'frowned' on discussing how to bypass access restrictions:cool:

It is not illegal is it. Anyway Mod if it is not allowed I apologies and please delete.

When I typed those numbers into the box and saved and then restarted network, those numbers were erased and the box went back to the original numbers that were there

If you only have 1 name server address entered, then just edit that to be the primary address you listed earlier. I noticed if you edit the first and add a 2nd it seems to loose what you entered in the 1st line, when you press save.
To be sure, edit, save, exit the menu, then go back in to make sure the change has not being undone, then do a network restart.
Hopefully it should be okay then....

Thanks for that. I already had two name server addys in there so I was entering both primary and secondary.

So I entered this time just the primary one and did network restart and again it reverted back to 89.101.xxx.x which is a UPC addy.

So I tried entering just the primary one again and saved etc and exited and turned off the box and turned it back on and the address saved and OnDemand worked.

So basically doing restart network will revert the the addys. back to UPC

BTW DHCP and Interface are marked as Yes.

Iba. In your case it would be better to set the DNS on the router itself.

Anyone have any experience with dreamdroid?

I used to be able to stream/open videos from my android phone using the app dreamdroid, to my vu+ duo running vix image, I still get the option "watch on dreambox" and when I select this option it give the message "sent as sent from dreamdroid on 04/03/2014" but nothing happens, whereas before the stream would play on the tv,

anyone have any idea whats wrong?

I can still stream live tv via dreamdroid (I use VPlayer to show the video), but when I try to watch recorded movie files now I just get a blank black message-bar and no video. I've been over & over the settings. I completely removed dreamdroid and reinstalled. The settings are the same but it no longer streams recorded videos.
...I can view them via webif on my pc without changing anything on the Duo, but not on dreamdroid.

I've been putting getting one of these off for months now. I never seem to have the cash at the end of the month to go buy one and the bits and pieces I'll need to get it going. The tube that installed my sky dish removed the spare ports on the LMB so I can't use it so now I have to buy a new one and cable it up. :(

did you try MX player instead of VPlayer?

I tried everything many months ago. Only vplayer worked without issue. It was working for over a year. It still works on live streams. I will try removing defaults for vplayer & retry mx player but it's a pain to do that -and I really don't think that is it. ...But I will try it and report back if it works, thanks for the suggestion.

did you try just wiping the cache in the v-player app settings?
