I have a logitech harmony remote which is handy to control several devices at once and have it programmed for the alien 2. It is a good remote, and better at been recieved by devices than their own orginal remote in alot of cases. However, for the alien,I find the box responds just the Same to it as the original remote. I.e the original is fine. Its the box that seems to have a narrow field. But will 100% agree with others about changing the eps settings on your image. It really does make a difference.

Thanks for that, done the eps settings but didn't really notice much of a change. Thanks anyway

When editing the Lircd.conf file there are several entries for eps to suit different makes of remote. Make sure to edit all of them.

    Box: GM Triplex
    Image: Champions latest AR-P

    Hi,

Just updated to Champions latest AR-P image which is working well.

One problem that I experience no matter what image I use is a Channel freezing. I flick to a new channel and back which usually fixes it for about 10 minutes before occuring again.

Sometimes the channel will freeze and the screen will be black for about 10 minutes before returning.

I'm using Home plugs and oscam version is the latest as far as I know. Would this be my oscam set up or does anyone else experience this?

    Thanks,
    J

was gonna order this off tvtrade there for 133 till I seen the price excluded the VAT then it went upto 170:eek: my own fault for not properly looking Ha

damm i was pushing it with 133 but for 170 naaa il leave it

think il just go with the Xoro 9000+ box im not really fussed about the recording and pausing of live TV

my main concern is channels changing frequency and having to rescan incase the older folks get stuck with empty channels I like that fact this one did that automatically

I think you're fairly alone with this issue so maybe looks at the oscam webif and look at the log on the status page.

You could try a different version of oscam - I think the image includes a few different versions so just change it in the plugins section

I think this issue of channels changing TP is grossly exagerated. Even on the fairly rare occasions that it does happen you will only loose one or two channels until retuned. The way some people go on, you'd swear it happened several times a week and you lost everything.

can anyone please answer few Qs for me getting kind of overwhelmed with all the box choices out there haha

this is the same as the amiko alien in this thread yes?

am i better off with enigma on it?

is it reliable for the folks if im gone for a few days its not confusing to use is it? if channels change frequency will it fix it automatically it say so on that website but would like an answer from guys actually using it

also just wondering does it take 3tb 3.0 HDDs not important but just wondering that one
I echo what bappelbe said, I got the SAB for €159 & free shipping from their ebay site a few weeks ago but they've put the price up to €169 now, the Golden Media box is also the same if your interested.

i am running champs latest ARP image on a SAB and from originally flashing it till now i have had no issues at all, after flashing, all the saorview and FTA channels were automatically available without any scanning or tuning needed from me (thankfully!) i have had no freezing or glitches of any kind and i was also very lucky with using a cheap crappy 4gig usb stick i found in the house that happened to work perfectly. just thought i would post this as some newcomers might get the impression from this thread that this enigma 2 thing is stressful and a bitch to understand and get running easily (IT IS!) I am having oscam issues but that is due to stupidity and lack of knowledge on my behalf and hopefully with a little help from my friends i will get that sorted aswell, feel free to ask any questions, just make sure you ask someone who actually knows what they are talking about. ie- not me! thanks for all the help so far lads, i dunno how ye put up with stupid clowns like me. Hey, glad to hear everything is going well.
I'm still waiting on delivery of my Amiko Alien 2 and am planning on using Champions latest image too.

What is the benefit of using Oscam?
Are there any more plug ins you would recommend getting to add to Champions image?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,326 ✭✭✭lensman

Coincidentally ITV HD has moved freq, a manual scan on 11097 Vertical will pick it up again,..other settings remain as is see here for more details

None as far as I know but I think the image has Oscam embedded so folk just use it, I used CCcam myself on my old DM800 for years without any problems.

Can't speak for the Spark system but if you add a drive under enigma the drive needs to be formatted/initialized as a linux volume before it can be used so you lose any data that's on it.

yeah cheers thought i had read that on a previous post but wasnt 100% sure, do i just go into a mount drive option or is it more complicated than that?

it's a pretty automated process as far as I recall, if in doubt just accept the default prompts

Ah Ok, I am seeing oscam mentioned in forums a lot and was wondering what it was. No worries.

It is advisable to reformat attached hdd but it's not necessary. The box should be able to read FAT32 disks and USB sticks

So you shouldn't necessarily lose your photos

For oscam discussions, you'd need to pm someone

My box (running champions latest) freezes occasionally. I think it's because of memory full, when I check the memory using flushcache plugin I usually only have 2-3% free - is this normal?
I don't have any recordings and I've made sure that crossepg is downloading to the attached HDD.
    Any ideas?

Could you remove any plugins you dont use ? Has cross EPG ever downloaded by mistake to the internal flash ?

I have wondered about the free memory before.I usually have very little free memory anytime I check. 5% at most, but most often less than 2% (.12% as I write) I assume this is normal, with linux using any available memory. But it would be interesting to see what other folks get.

I find the same with both Techguys Hyperion and Champs AR-P, ~2%. Even if you flush the cache it goes from ~70% back to a few % in seconds. I have the minimum plugins I can get away with, so it must just be a characteristic of the system.

There is Ram which is separate to the Internal Flash and if so, which one is going near zero ?

Re-flash. Are you trying a virgin image or one which someone has already built up ?

Went back and started from scratch and found out why rte player had stopped working. It was down to a file used in the newer version of tsmedia. I set back up my image with the tsmedia 4.4 and all works fine.

Only other changes in this image are an updated version of the sky skin and a sky spinner.

    it is the back_of_e2_26Feb14.zip file

note to anyone using this as an image, I do not use oscam and it is set up as such, also I use GraphicEPG instead of CoolTVGuide

To get RTE Player press red button and scroll down

edit - it is Hyperion 3 with few plugins - but RTE Player is working

I downloaded this image and it does exactly what it says on the tin. I got all the terrestrial channels no bother (first time I managed this), RTE player working (first time) and was able to put the channels in the order I like using DreamboxEdit.

Now when will this be improved upon!:p

My image is a more complete version if that's what your looking for. Hyperion v4 is due out this month too so it'll be interesting to see what improvements will be made.
