As theTechGuy says my image is a bare bones one which you can add stuff to, use his or championcs images for more complete images with bells and whistles.

I was so pleased with your image when I got everything to work first time. I had tried ChampionC image and I had problems getting the terrestrial channels, also RTE player didn't work. Sorry ChampionC!

I will give TechGuy's image a try!:cool:

This is a copy & paste of TTC's post from the fireware thread stating what is included in his latest image, from reading the last few posts in this thread it has RTE player too.

Here it is, a link to my Jan 2014 Hyperion V3 Image - for the Amiko Alien2 and other ST7162 Based Boxes.

This image is working with the following plugins:-
1channel (new version) , AutoTimer, AutoVolumeAdjustment, AutoBouquets 20131020 (works in about 60 secs), CacheFlush, CrossEPG, CoolTVGuide v7.0, IPTV Updater v1.1, all Picons, Rats Picons, OSCam (blank - no line ), TSMedia v4.9 beta2, PermanentTimeShift, OpenWebIf and Streaming / Recording of $ Channels while watching another $ channel and SambaServer.

Also includes SkyHD bootlogo and skin

The image is setup to use DHCP automatically and is also set for using HDMI at 720p

FTP and Telnet - Username "root", Password "pkteam"
OSCam - http://box_ip:8888 - Username "root", Password "oscam"
OpenWebIf - http://box_ip:00080 - change it in Plugins > OpenWebIf

Its getting confusing with all the updates! That's the details of the January version that RTE Player wasn't working in. The link to the new version is in my signature. List of image plugins etc. also included. Maybe a mod could delete the posts of the old releases so people aren't getting confused? The firmware thread could also do with a bit of a tidy. A fair bit of general chat that probably should be in this thread.

I've just downloaded your latest image (today) and all the terrestrial channels are there, the rte player works. I noticed In A/V settings under colour format you have it set at RGB, my old Mvision HD200 box had to be set to YUV, is there any difference between them?

My TV flickered when set to YUV but that might have just been my telly. Try it out and see if it works for you, if not you just switch back.

PS: Thanks for a great image! My wife wasn't convinced, she thought enigma2 looked complicated compared to Spark, but your Hyperion 3 image has changed all that!

Can your tv do hd at 1080 or 720?

The hdmi is set at 720,so if you want to change to 1080 in the settings be careful, as most tv's don't support 1080 and you may get a blank screen.

If you're up and running and all's well then happy days.

As already mentioned TheTechGuys image as more plugins.
Mine has no oscam and does not use CrossEPG, this is basically because they are not needed if you are only viewing fta Sat channels.

I also do not use Cooltvguide as I find it a bit slow and does not show the program description for sat channels (maybe because I don't have CrossEPG)

TheTechGuy also uses the SKY skin which I don't like - though I probably would have used it a year ago when starting out as it would have lessened the shock of not having sky for my wife:D

You can of course install any of the plugins onto my image if you like

To give a nicely cryptic answer - it depends on what you want!
If you have the dvb-t2 version you should use a Hyperion version, otherwise try several and see which you feel most comfortable with
(at least I think that is why some of us do not get AR-P working with saorview)

I tried recording and I'm seeing the program in my recordings but there is nothing actually on it, it says it is 0mb. I remember seeing this before on a previous post but can't find the post as I'm on the phone and it has no search function, anyone remember the fix?

You don't mention which box or image you're running. I had this problem quite a lot on Hyperion v2. Cure is maybe Hyperion v3 or AR-P

Have you maybe only a single satellite link and then you were maybe already watching another programme ? However, in that case, I would have expected it to maybe record a blank screen for whatever period of time it was for.

Have you tried just doing an on-demand recording assuming the one you tried was with a timer ?

I have to say it's something that has happened me on a few occasions but I only have a single dedicated link to the dish.

Crossepg is worth using even if you only get free-to-air channels. It will give you a 7-day programme listing for your FTA channels and makes things like creating Timer recordings easier.

7-day epg comes down from the satellite automatically for the fta channels - just watch a channel for about 15 mins for the whole thing to come down. (same as watching a Saorview channel (only takes a few seconds for Saorview 7-day epg to come down))

The image just picks up the Freesat feed

hi guys, i know this question has probably been asked a hundred times but i havent got the patience to read through 300 pages so id be greatful if somebody could give me a crash course on these stb's i was thinking about purchasing a Sab Unix triple tuner but i dont understand what enigma 2 software is or what images are and how they work. Id be greatful if somebody could give me a basic translation of what it means and how these boxes work. any help greatfully appreciated

Are you still able to apply an Enigma2 image while running the latest version of Spark?
I ask as I have read that upgrading Spark after E2 has been applied can cause issues.
Ideally I would like to have TTG or champs E2 image applied while also running latest version of Spark.

There was some talk of an update to spark that would kill your box if you upgraded while e2 was also installed but I upgraded a couple of boxes without any problems so I'm not sure how widespread it was. If your just going to be using e2 then an old version will do just fine as all you'll use it for is flashing the e2 image. Once you have the e2upgrade plugin for spark your good to go.

Hi all, sick of paying sky so have been researching FTA boxes to replace it. I'm just about to pull trigger on Amiko Alien 3 but I want to be 100% sure I can get both UK FTA (using current sky dish) & SAORVIEW (using an aerial) with 7 day epg and recordable with external USB drive?

Reading through the thread this is possible using Enigma & the various updates. Do I understand this correctly?

What is the best image to use?

When I got my Amiko Alien 2+ box I just used Spark to get used to using it, over the last couple of weeks I have been dipping my toe into Enigma2 and enjoying it!:)

There is some good info in this thread....thanks to all for sharing the knowledge.

I have a solo 2 running vix and the amiko alien 2+ ..... I am going to attempt flashing with tech guys image the weekend.

I was wondering has anybody got a plug in called remote channel stream working with with this box?
I would like to view some channels from my solo2 feeds through the amiko alien 2 box.
In previous versions I think the plugin was known as partner box ( which I could not get working)
