This box, the amiko alien 2 will give you 7day epg for saorview and fta satellite in one box with recording to a usb drive. (as well as other things like streaming from the box)

best image is a matter of taste, it only takes about 10 minutes to load a new image so give a few of them a go to see which you like

Re; Recording issues, Yep I only have one feed working for some reason, its recording perfectly on the channel im watching but if I change channel while recording the screen goes blank, I remember using satfinder on the menu and only gettin signal from tuner a and swapping the cables round and then only getting signal from tuner b so the box is fine, problem is either a damaged cable or faulty connection on the dish, does it matter which connection on the quad lnb I connect the two sat feeds to? I think I used 2 and 3

All four LNB connections are the same.
The whole idea of having 2 tuners is that one handles the recording while you watch something else using the other or do two recordings at the same time.

Either that or the box is mistakenly not freeing up a tuner. Try a reboot to test that theory out.

So one of the cables must be damaged along the way betwern dish and receiver :-( damn I hate gettin up on roofs

Is a reboot switching it off at the back of the receiver? If so I tried that, would a damaged cable give me no signal at all? I am getting 0% signal off one tuner and 75% off the other

Yeah either switching off at the back or selecting restart in the power menu. If you have 0% signal it definetly must be a broken cable or lnb.

Still no joy for me on TheTechGuy's new image. If I do a scan of the DVB-T tuner I get a green screen.

Yeah that's a small bug in Hyperion v3. What you need to do instead is a manual scan of both the muxes individually.

Whats happening when you press ok to select it?

It only says plugin start ok. Nothing else.

You could try deleting it and adding it again.

Place this on the root of a USB and stick it in the rear of the box while in spark. Spark should ask you do you want to install the plugin.

Hi lads, great thread - serious amount of info here!

I bought a SAB triple tuner online with Enigma 2 preloaded about a month ago. It was all completely new to me and I've learning a few bits here and there. I want to try some of the images you guys have created and I have a few questions you may be able to help with.

I have the Enigma 2 image on a USB stick as I had to reflash it after I froze the box with my tinkering! If I want to put one of your images (gonna try Championc and TechGuys) can I have more than one image on the USB and choose which one to load? Or should I just save each image on my laptop and transfer the one I want try to the USB

Also I have a 1TB Iomega external HD with lots of movies, tv shows etc. Can I play this through the box? I have connected it but it's not being recognised. It's NTFS formatted since I got it. I read here that FAT32 may work? Am I right in saying that if I format it to FAT32, I'll lose my files? Should I buy another HD and format that and then transfer my movies etc to the new drive?

By using the Spark plugin to upgrade images, you can have a selection on a usb stick, each one in it's own folder. You simply navigate to the folder of the image you want to use and Select and Upgrade

As for the hdd format, my image should auto mount any disk. Ext3 is the suggested format but others like FAT32 should work ok.

Ok. Now when i press the plugin it Just goes Black for few seconds. And nothing happens . I Was thinking to install your image but it Looks like i am out of luck .

Did you get yhe prompt to upgrade your Spark plugins ? If so, you then possibly have two slightly different e2upgrade plugins and so, look for the other one

Got my AA2 today. Happy days.

I installed TTGs image but found it very sluggish\unresponsive as if something was hogging a lot of memory\CPU. When I pressed a button on the RC, it sometimes took 6/7 seconds for it to register.
Has anyone seen that before?

Anyway I re-flashed and put on Champions image (6 January 2014 AR-P based Image) which seemed much smoother\faster but I can't find any Saorview channels when I do a manual scan.
So I think that rules Champions image out if I cannot pick up the Saorview channels.

Anyone know how to make TTGs image a bit more responsive?

There is a way to increase the response of the remote control, if you read through the posts over the last 5 days or or it shows you how to do it, I did it with the help of TechGuy (I'm using his latest image) and it works a treat, in saying that I didn't find the image slow at all, but changing some settings made it even quicker.

I flashed TTGs image again and there is about a 7 second delay when using the remote so it's pretty much unusable, I found it has rebooted by itself a few times too.
I'll have a look for that setting to see if it improves things.

I edited /etc/Lircd.conf and changed the eps values from 30 to 60 using winscp.
Did a few reboots and the remote is much better now on TTGs image and I'm very impressed so far with the image.
The RTE player is green screening for some reason but that's not a big deal for me.

1 question if anyone can help, how do you change the EPG guide to News\Movies\Kids for example?

Cheers! looks like you can only access it when you don't have the EPG open.

I used winscp to do it.

The RTE Player worked straight away for me, are you downloaded TechGuy's latest image? See below...

Went back and started from scratch and found out why rte player had stopped working. It was down to a file used in the newer version of tsmedia. I set back up my image with the tsmedia 4.4 and all works fine.

Only other changes in this image are an updated version of the sky skin and a sky spinner.
