If you have picture on Spark then the cables are fine

I'm not sure what "satfinder" you are using

To Scan Satellite on enigma go to:
Menu - Setup -Service searching - Automatic Scan
scan the DVB-S tuner
Look at your Tuner configuration (Menu-Setup-Service searching) to see if one tuner is set to be the same as the other sat tuner

Or you could download Championcs AR-P image

note to anyone using this as an image, I do not use oscam and it is set up as such, also I use GraphicEPG instead of CoolTVGuide

To get RTE Player press red button and scroll down

edit - it is Hyperion 3 with few plugins - but RTE Player is working

I bought an Amiko alien 2+ last october as mentioned here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=86742535.

After renovating sitting room, I went to connect it last night, 1 sat connection and aerial for now, upon switching on, "Boot" appears on the display, then the Spark logo appears for a few seconds on the tv, a window appears then stating "No service".
There is a signal from both cables as the tv has a Freesat tuner built in and the saorview channels are available on tv too.
Would the signal cables being routed through a surge protector be causing the problem?

Any help appreciated.

Hi i have another related question! I have a guy who is going to take my sab box and put some £goodies on it, does he need it to have a working image on it or does he put one on himself? I don't know him so cant ask him directly. My problem is that i have no sat stations on it at the mo on enigma, only on spark, thanks, Nigel.

I'd say he'll have his own image that he'll just flash with all the "goodies" included. If not he can download one and have it setup in a half an hour if he knows what he's doing.

Not sure what you mean by signal cables going through a surge protector but try plugging the sat box directly into the wall. My saorview acted up before when I had it going through a surge protector.

I'll try that, think It's a Belkin av surge protector with push in and F type connections as well as power supply sockets on it. The aerial and Sat feeds are connected to surge board, then to Amiko from it. Thanks for your reply.

This may be a silly thing, but I can't get the picture in picture to work (Hyperion v3) . I use the red button to access the extension list, and then try to active the pip (using the blue button) . I don't see any pip. However When I press the red button I have the options to zap to pip,etc.
Anyone figured out how to use this feature? Its probably simple but its bugging me.

Thanks for that! This is the first image I have used that I managed to get all the channels terrestrial/satellite without any bother. Also the first time I got the RTE Player to work, sound and vision.

Are there TV3 Player and E Player plugins?:D

There was a 3player app but it broke a long time ago. Afaik the dev stopped updating it after 3 made some big changes to their site.

I am not sure what you meant by "picture in picture". If it is that there is a small display of the current channel while the epg is displayed then I find certain skins work better than others on this.

I connected the Amiko to 2 different signal cables last night, without a surge protector.
The "Spark" logo appears on screen after the box boots up, then the same information window appears with the words "No Service".
Have I got a dud?

Got it going since at break, went in to Menu- Install
I had the idea that it would have given the tuning options automatically from first start up.

if you are using enigma see:

Depending on which image you have you may need to edit the Lircd.conf file found in the /etc folder. Change eps values from 30 to 60.
Note there are several entries in this file. Edit each instance of eps

then maybe the batteries need looking at - or there might be a problem with your remote - I have no such problems

they are the same insides - different case

Most people here would think that you are better with enigma2 - you can flash an image from here if you like (there are a few in the firmware thread). saying that some have got spark working to their satisfaction.

Most of us find it fine for family to use, frequency changes are handled by a plugin called autobouquets which can be set to run nightly (I don't use it that regularly)

I use a 2tb drive formatted to ext3, so there should be no problem with a 3tb one.

Not batteries or remote, (tried a second one). The Dreambox I have works really well, don't matter much anyway, just thought there was a better ranged remote on the market.

You using enigma 2?
I use Dreambox control centre (DCC) (Google for download) on my pc to access my image, (Hyperion 3).

I mean, when I am viewing one channel, I should be able to see another in the corner using the pip feature. When activated, I can see that a second tuner is being used (by pressing the "ok" button, I can see that some channels are greyed, indicating that the tuner is in use).
I did get it working quite once, but it was when i stressed the box, by trying to record a hd channel on the terrestial and sat tuner, while timeshift & record another. I tried to activate the pip, and got an image in a box in the corner. However the box was at its limits and stalled. So it is possible. I think it maybe that the pip is there but in the background of the main picture, not to the fore.

I have a logitech harmony remote which is handy to control several devices at once and have it programmed for the alien 2. It is a good remote, and better at been recieved by devices than their own orginal remote in alot of cases. However, for the alien,I find the box responds just the same to it as the original remote. I.e the original is fine. Its the box that seems to have a narrow field. But will 100% agree with others about changing the eps settings on your image. It really does make a difference.
