    Have checked, and it is working for me. (but I didn't start with TechGuys back up) .
    I should have said :

    Unzip and FTP to

    /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/

    Then reboot.

    If it doesn't work, I see someone has uploaded a new player on one of the other forums on a different site, which seems to be getting thumbs up

    its on the sattvhelp forum site. Just type in "rteplayer" in the search tool on that forum and it should come up as a result

    Just met by a black screen on that one too. Have you got it working on your box running hyperion v3?

    I am using my own version of hyperion3 (not theTechGuys) which is a basic install - Autotimer, TSMedia and RTE player are about the only plugins I have added to the default. I do not have oscam installed and I do not use CrosEPG as I only view fta sat and Saorview for which the epg comes down automatically (if that makes a difference)

    Thanks for the reply guys.

    I like you started with a raw Hyperion 3 image and added plugins and RTE Player was working but stopped around the end of 2013.
    I have tried a number of versions of the RTE player but none work,I just get a black screen when playing a file.

    I believe I may have added some extra plugins that are effecting it so I will start again with a fresh Hyperion 3 image and see if I can work out what is causing the problem.

    PLEASE go in to /hdd path on your box and give me the bloody crash log

    They seem to be saying a "black" screen which is not a typical crash screen for Hyperion which is green so there may not be a crash log - sounds like a hanging problem to me

    then I'm afraid they fktup one of enigmas libraries that is responsible for playback, so it can not be solved in the plugin, change for AR-P image

    I went back to an older backup of Hyperion 3 I had from late November and RTE Player works fine on it .:)
    I've brought that image up to date and installed extra plugins and RTE Player is still working .

    Btw ,I wasnt complaining ,I was calmly trying to work out why it wasnt working .
    The fault was that when you choose a programme to playback it would just stay at 00:00 and not play.It would not green screen or crash ,just no playback.
    1channel and other streaming plugins worked correctly though which is a bit odd .

    a big thanks to gerry for getting me back on the road, i managed my first small foray into this mad linux world! spark is running perfectly and finding all the fta irish and uk channels but enigma is now only showing me options for terrestrial, when i click on provider it just says RTENL, if i click on EPG all the sat channels are greyed out, on satfinder its showing nothing for tuner A but tuner B is showing 75% any ideas on what i have broke now? thanks, Nigel

    note to anyone using this as an image, I do not use oscam and it is set up as such, also I use GraphicEPG instead of CoolTVGuide

    To get RTE Player press red button and scroll down

    edit - it is Hyperion 3 with few plugins - but RTE Player is working

    Which image are you on?
    can you do a scan of terrestrial? - you probably need to do one unless the image was made by someone pointing at the same transmitter as you.

    the terrestrial is working perfect on spark and enigma, the FTA sats are working perfect on spark only. i havnt even got the option to scan a satellite on enigma?? its on arp at the mo, pre installed and everything was working fine untill now, i did run new cables from the the dish to the box the other day but if the sat stations are crystal clear on spark then the cables arent the problem are they? when i click on satfinder im only getting signal from one tuner, is that right?
