And it was all horse racing fans backing Kauto was it? People I know that have no interest in racing were backing Kauto in every King George and Gold Cup at that stage.

I find it hard to believe that anyone who saw Denmans RSA and Hennessy thought he could be beaten by anything in Cheltenham, never mind a jockey that knows his onions.

So it was mug money that made the 11 length King George winner and defending Gold Cup winner fav and everyone who had a clue knew Denman would win?

Such tripe, I certainly though Kauto would win that day as I imagine Nicholls and Ruby did.

He wouldnt maintain a serious enough gallop to get the main Champion Hurdle horses off his tail without going out like a light two out anyway imo.

u must have missed the 2012 champion hurdle- that scenario happened

You just compare races from years ago and different tracks for sport eh.

Holding off Overturn and HF (who the race didn't suit) is a bit different to holding off MTOY, Our Conor and TNO.

Not to mention Rock On Ruby had course form and Grade 1 form.

Whatever you go on thinking UDS beating some nags has any bearing on how he can run in a Champion Hurdle.

Rock on Ruby didn't make all the running anyway so his point is irrelevant

ur just missin my point completely-it doesn't look from what we've seen that he will just bottom out if he front runs, and lookin at the 2012 is an example of what a front runner can do-MTOY wud be left struggling along with HF if that happened

MTOY would literally be the last horse in the race that would be struggling off a strong pace.

Now that UDS is out i've gone off MTOY who I was warming to and i'm starting to think HF can win, but the price will have to be right (4's +), to add to my 10's on Our Conor. Think UDS not running is a negative for both English horses, doesn't look to be much pace in there

But the answer to this is yes! Ruby kept enough to out battle MTOY, had he gone harder early McCoy would have sailed past him. Fantastic ride by Ruby

Possibly but i'm not sure you understand the reasons why. MTOY pulls hard and doesn't settle well early in a race, thus expending energy. He did this early in the supreme as they weren't going quick enough for him. Off a strong pace, he'd travel better and not needlessly expend energy pulling, meaning he'll have more energy late in a race. Same with Jezki to an extent. I'm not sure if he'd have ever had got past the tough Champagne Fever, but had he not pulled early in the race he'd have had a better chance certainly

MTOY is a keen going sort, they literally couldn't go fast enough for him. It would help him settle and thus conserve energy for later. He has an enormously high cruising speed

It could. I personally don't think he will be in the first 3 but that just my opinion, but like I said, the faster the better for him.

This whole UDS thing is ****ing bizarre, as owners why would you go along with a decision not to send a live Champion Hurdle contender to the festival.

As someone stated you could throw in any number of this years novices along with the current crop of last years novices and only a mug would write off Hurricane Fly lining up next year on the basis of his age.

The race yesterday was odd with the ground being a bog and Ruby riding, paired with Mullins statement today, while it is disappointing that he possibly won't line up, I would not be surprised if he did line up given the norm for mixed messages.

If I was the owner I would send the horse to another yard rather than wait and hope he is sound as a 7 year old.

Sticking with HF, Ruby has always banged on about this horse having a massive run in him at Cheltenham...and I'd just love to see him slam the opposition. Though even if he did I'm sure some on here will still find a reason to dismiss his performance.

Irrelevant arguement anyway, UDS was never going the CH.

Never happen he is always right even when he is spectacularly wrong.

Lol. Ruby said. Suppose that's it then.

You should lose your posting rights after your embarrassing Denman/Kauto ramble earlier.

Have you watched The Sunday Forum? Just watching it here and at the point where it shows Mullins interview post-race yesterday. It was beyond strange. He was hemin and hawin talking jibberish about ratings and stones and even took a few seconds to calculate what UDS needed to find. Had all the looks of a man trying to convince himself!

Not a hope of him turning up, sadly.

yea, goin back to 2005 i remember the neighbours horse( mullins trained) was entered in both the gold cup and world hurdle(he was versatile-had won at the 2004 festival in a chase, but also the french champion HURDLE),he won the hennessey in 05,the family wanted obviously to go for the gold cup but were told at the start of the week if that was gonna happen they had to find another trainer!!went on to finish third in the hurdle race,

Can't see that run coming at this stage in his life.
