I just bought one from Servers Plus

I had to call them to order as there was a problem doing it online. The guy said that 500 just came in to stock. The price was €245 and I should get €120 cashback. I decided not to get the 3 year warranty as I am not sure if it can be used when ordering from the UK. Anyway, it should be delivered via Parcel Motel in the next couple of days.

What number did you call them on? Their site won't accept my order and I can't get through to them using the phone number on the site.

Can anyone recommend another retailer for one of these?

Originally I tried to purchase one from ServersDirect.co.uk last weekend.
Got email then on Monday that they had been oversold.

Purchased instead from ServersPlus; had faster delivery (next day to ParcelMotel, so had it in 2 days compared to 10 days from ServersDirect).
Originally would not accept my order when using ParcelMotel postcode with 'X' in it, no problem once using 'BT36 4PE' postcode, picked up ParcelMotel address immediately. Ordered using Irish credit card no problem.

Hope to have a 'play' this weekend; thanks to OP and all in thread!

I had the same problem, ordered through serversplus.com - site wouldn't accept my order.

Rang them on 00 44 845 141 1234 and got it sorted. Ordered Tuesday, arrived in my local parcel motel on 11pm Wednesday.

    Cheers for the help lads.
Just off the phone with them now, my order is gone through and should be with me next week, very nice company to deal with.

Excellent - I just go t my cash back confirmed via email. promotions@out-bound.co.uk
I sent the claim form filled out and reprinted to pdf. With Foxit you can just type straight onto teh pdf in normal view mode.

Also sent a pic of the box it came in, well just the label with the serial and the invoice which was emailed to me from servers plus - sent them that too.

All took less that a day for them to process. Pretty good service.

I also used the uk cashback form, didnt realise there was a Irish form. Still the amount is the same it looks like. I just told them i was in Ireland temporarily.

Does anyone know if the 3yr warranty will cover the unit in Ireland?
HP do seem have a large presence here.

Is this the correct ram? 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3-10600.
Would This kit from eBay be ok?

I believe that memory is registered and it is not compatible with the N54L.

My guess is that few server requirements deserve more memory but if there is a need to go for a fat OS this seems best deal for memory http://m.hotukdeals.com/deals/crucial-ballistix-4gb-ddr3-25-19-delivered-with-code-perfect-for-hp-microserver-1821139

Just to check before I buy, your sure that will work with the microserver?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 103 ✭✭CurlyEng

I'm not buying this and bring sure would mean having it installed & working so can't give you this assurance.
I think thread is well in formed though. As is this http://n40l.wikia.com/wiki/Memory

Stick with the defaults. Have you turned in RAID in the bios?

Just change boot order to first try to boot from USB. I don't remember having to change anything else.

Did you run the tool to make your unraid drive bootable?

Picked up mine this morning from Parcel Motel.
Very quick delivery from Serverplus, I only ordered it on Saturday.
First time using Parcel Motel as well, excellent service.

Even if it doesn't, you can pick it up at the depot.

One I got from ServersDirect, which was an authenticated UK reseller didn't have the proper serial number. So it's not unheard of. ServersDirect sorted me out though.

Did you order the plain server or a bundle kit?
