They mentioned 'BY' the 12th, that could mean anytime from now up to midnight on the 12th

That's exactly it.. could be batch 1 tomorrow, batch 2 on Tuesday and batch 3 on Wednesday.

Who knows...but we do know it'll be very very soon ! :)

    Best of luck to everyone

But as its online it might be automated as a general email for people who have passed or failed? I doubt they are personally going to email thousands!

It was Sunday night when I got word of the stage 1 test, or maybe that was friday but it was definitely late at night, at a weird time when they wouldn't be working. So it wouldn't surprise me if it was tonight.

My heart will be in my mouth just before opening it and reading it. I wish everyone the best of luck. I probably wont be on again unless I get through but I will keep an odd eye out to see how everyone is getting on through the stages, so just incase, well done to those who make it and commiserations to those who don't make it this time.

I'd hate to fall at the first hurdle, but no one has any idea of the percentage of people making it through, or the cut off point.

I think it would be fair is they accepted at least 60% of the people that did the test.

Just because you don't exactly need to be a genius to be a good Garda, and there are two other tests where they can cut people as well.

If I don't pass the test it would really knock my confidence if I have to apply again, but with so many people it's a lottery.

Good luck to everyone anyway. I'll post up my news good or bad when I get it

I hope your right :) I keep thinking about it it's driving me nuts lol!! I wonder tho, if the cut the most out in stage 1 to make it easier or will a lot get through and the cut them out at later stages eg stage 1 maybe 1000 get through or 10000(if passed out of 25k or so) who knows!! All we can do is wait but ill deffo keep an eye out here to see who passes or not! :) hopefully most,if not all, on here go on to stage 2 :D good luck

Yeah I'll post whether I get through or not. Will be tough opening the email to read the result.

I just wanna put it out there to see, i'm gonna be honest, i'm piss poor at Irish, passed it but brutal at it, I have French and German also. Is there anyone here thats pretty good at Irish(proper conversation and understanding of it) Or anyone using another language?

Yes I'm pretty good at conversational Irish after attending an all Irish primary school and would have a great understanding of it. Was brought up speaking it at home with my Gaeltacht born father who later became a secondary school Irish teacher and author of 13 self help Irish books (leaving & junior cert) for a well known publisher.I wouldnt say Im fluent though.

I'm with you on this one, I'm gone out if school with a few years and I could just about say conas ata tu!! I'm much better at German than Irish but I'm sure it'll all come back to us if we get in. If I pass stage 1 I'm going to get exam papers for junior cert and leaving cert to brush up. I'm sure it would come in handy even just to read over comprehensions ;) worth a shot anyway , god I can't sleep ill be like the others, bloody terrified to open the email !!! Aargh the suspense!! Thank god I'm off work for a few days, timed that right ha!!

Excuse my ignorance but why stress about having weak Irish if only two languages are required? You have English as as one language and you could have German as your second, only two languages are needed for the educational requirements. Is this for when Irish is being taught down in the college?

Yeah I'm still going to brush up on my Irish as far as I know there's an Irish class. Just for my own peace of mind :)

Let's not all forget that there are 3 aptitudes so I can't see them being too harsh for the first one, I'd say 10-15k will get through to next stage, and 5k at leased to sit the written. They are using this campaign for 3 years remember so that's 1000 or so that has to get through all stages. I think they need a minimum panel of 3k after aptitude to go for interview by order of merit. There will be medical and physical to be overcame after interview so as I said a minimum of 3k will get interview over the next 3 years in my opinion. The last thing they want to do is whittle it down too much, there will be people waiting for interview that will be never called. Dear john letter will sort that. Then new campaign ect
