Remember that a Channel Islands card will also work for the full trick but they're even rarer than UTV ones!

Would a Freesat from Sky card sent to an NI address work?

Should be able to sort one!

Yes, of course, it'll have to be activated though.

Nice one:D. Yes it will work. When you get the card you'll have to ring sky (uk) to activate the card while it's in a sky box. Give the NI address the card was posted to when asked and it will be "regionalised" to UTV.

    Same here ...

I have just powered off one of my boxes to check if the blue button trick still works & it does, I suggest you try cleaning your card & insure that the English channels are on your epg before you switch off at the mains.

    Have you had another update?

Its probably my own fault .... I had another card that i wanted to test ... it wasnt working so I did a manual software update.

I'll give it more time tonight

Do the other channells need to be added with the UK card in the box or does it matter? I did it with the ROI card in last night because the box was so slow with the uk one in!

Panic over - back up and running (Blue Button Trick)-- looks like you have to add the other channels with the UK card in! My Bad !!

Failed to wake up an NI card left in Box for the last 2 nights (Blue one with House).. Box still says "no card" I'm going to leave it in a box over the weekend and see if it reactivates; but I'm not optimistic

All in all I'm happy to have the blue button trick back!

Cards do not wake up like this, they will either load their EPG region or they are a dud, the giveaway is the 'No card' message, try rubbing the gold contacts vigorously on some fabric like a pair of jeans, go to the settings>details page and see if you are getting a Viewing Card Number, no number means it's a dud.

Saying that, it's very rare that cards fail but quite often when I'm going through a batch of cards they won't work until you give the contacts a clean.

Thanks for that . Contacts are gleaming at this stage . Dead as a dodo methinks.
I should be able to get my hands on another one though

Slightly off topic, I have a genuine ni ftv card. Should I be able to view ch5 hd if I left it in overnight or is ch5 hd a hd sub only?

Channel 5 HD is no longer viewable with any FTV card. You now need to be a UK Sky HD subscriber to view it.

Thanks DT. I can watch bbc 3&4 HD using the NI card. Pity they aren't on the irish epg.

I should be able to get my hands on another one though

Ok - Second Card (White NI one) works fine !

    2 things though

It can be very slow to change channels ; blue screen for ages .. Is that normal ? Is there anything I can do ?

Also - The NI EPG does not have ITV 1+1 . If I save that with a UK card and add it to favourites will I be able to access it using the Blue button Trick ? or would loading the UK EPG get rid of UTV,C5 etc from my EPG now?

Itv+1 is not avalable with ni card

Yes , I know .. I'm asking if I can add it with a uk card to blue button trick and still keep ni epg?

No I don't think so. You'll have to boot from uk card to get itv+1 on the blue button but to get the NI epg you'll have to reboot again and all previous settings will be lost. You can still watch the +1 in other channels.

Plugged out box for 10 mins
    Did planner rebuild
    Did card trick again

Result --still a small delay but nothing as bad as it used to be !!

I'm delighted with the extra channels

I don't re build the planner. I just unplug the box and put in the ni card. Power the box back up and wait for the ni epg to load fully. Go into standby put the irish card back in and its finished. All takes less than an ad break.

Don't delete other channels or it won't work.

    Hi,
Had a power failure yesterday and the trick was lost.
Re did every thing with my ni card, but now the box will not see the roi card except after full reboot, after which the trick is lost!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Do you mean that the box does recognize the NI card after a reboot, or it doesn't. What happens then?
