Are you using wireless? its crazy to blame upc on not getting max 100mb from wireless.
Test it with a lan cable and see what speeds you get. If you are getting close to 100mb upc will just fob you off and rightly so in my opinion.
It is all down to the quality of wireless card you use and one in there router.
They just get you 100mb to your house, its up to you if you want to spring for a high end router to get 100mb through wireless.

Yes we are using wireless unfortunately. I can't test it with a wired connection as I do not own an ethernet cable long enough to go to the next room over. Have no other devices that can either.
I'll be ringing them and asking them to send me out a new router. I don't know if you saw my post on this thread about a week or two ago, but the guy we spoke to on the phone was a dope.
Not only that, but multiple times throughout the day, our entire house loses internet connectivity for 1-2 minutes. It's almost like the box is restarting, but the TV still works fine.0 -
I've 150mb broadband with UPC. Recently I had to get the router changed to that new Technicolour version which dropped my wifi signal from about 70-80mb to 50mb.
If I output the 5ghz signal though I was able get 130mb. This is probably a combination of the 5ghz signal and my laptop having AC wifi adapter built in. Sadly 95% of my things can't get the 5ghz

Using Trixx, does anyone know some safe clocks for the 280x Toxic?
Do you know how to overclock?
Basically, you have several variable to work with: clock speed, voltage, and heat. Heat is related to voltage.
Now, start off with this: don't let the core temp go above ~75 degrees, not the VRM temps above ~85 degrees. Next, don't pump more than about 1.3v into the chip.
OK. Incrementally increase the core clock speed and test in Unigine Valley Benchmark, or just game for a while. Keep an eye on the max core/VRM temps in GPUz while doing so. Increase clock speeds by about 25mhz at a time.
If your driver crashes, that means you have an unstable overclock. Now, you can stop now and drop by 25mhz to get back to your max overclock, or you can increase your max overclock by adding a bit more voltage. Add voltage in small increments. Don't go above 1.3v/1300mv overall.
If you want the quick and easy way to overclock, pump 1.3v into the core, and then keep increasing the core clock speed and testing each time. When you start crashing while gaming/benching, just drop it back down a bit and you're good to go. Always keep an eye on the core/VRM temps in GPUz.
Usually when people overclock they set a permanent fan speed just to keep the card a bit extra cool. Maybe 60/70% constant fan speed. Whatever is tolerable really.

Oh god, seems a bit out of my depth. I had a problem with it earlier when Trixx started up. It had it severely under clocked and only after different installs and un-installs did it come up as it should. Runs pretty sweet currently, although there's screen tear in BF40 -

I feel like an idiot for asking this question so forgive me lads ha
.. but how exactly do I use an anti static wrist strap?
Do I plug the power supply into the wall socket (with the switch on the PSU off) to ground it and then attach the clip to the fan grill.. or do I simply connect it onto the case without anything plugged in?
I read you can't do this with painted metal
as I've never built a computer before I'm fairly confused now! :pac: 0 -

How do you find the R4?
I've had the R4 for about 9 months or so at this stage and I really like it. Before this case I had only ever used Antec cases but this seemed so much easier to build in. I have the black windowed version and really like the simple look to it sitting on my desk. Along with this the included fan controller is very handy along with the included fans which are silent when used with lower volts from the fan controller. Also I've never used the top two fan vents on it so the inclusion of sound damping material was a nice plus.
One thing if you plan on mounting your SSD behind the motherboard, you have to do this before you mount the motherboard but other then that and maybe one or two other small things the case has been near perfect for me 0 -

Looking forward to getting everything set up, I hope its quiet as I expect. I'm building the rig around it tbh, everything is as quiet as I could get it while still having the power.
Even went off and bought one of those new Corsair RM series power supplies where the fan doesn't even start up til it hits 40% load 0 -
