Pretty blessed with our day in a Ballybunion. We brought our tee time forward and made it to the clubhouse without a drop of rain and barely a breeze.

The round was on the house too. Unbelievable Jeff.

Should be fine in galway tomorrow and bursting to get out with me new toy. Should add at least 5-10 shots but at least i will know how far away each shot goes off target.

I was so spot on with my prediction. Great day for a round. Scored woeful but enjoyed it.

Beautiful out today, frost in the shadows but only half on temps.
37 points for 17 holes, very happy as haven't played in nearly 6 weeks.
Hope it stays dry, playing macreddin on Sat!

Cant see too much golf being played today, was hardly able to load my gear into the jeep this morning with the wind!

Decision time in the next 5 mins

Yeah it isn't ideal when the wind banging against the window has you up before the alarm. I'm supposed to be off to Slade valley in a few minutes. Fingers crossed its not too bad out.

Make sure and ring first, I just rang the K Club where we were supposed to be playing and both courses are closed with an inspection at 10am which unfortunately rules me out today.

Been ringing for the past 30 mins, no answer. Do I take it as closed? Or show up anyway?

Had 34pts off 14 including 2 tap in birdies on 17 and 18

Good going in the inclement weather we are suffering at present.

How did the course hold up with all the rain of late. In good nick??

An improvement on the cards - but the wind has weather predictions all over the place - sure the weather was to be good today according to the 5 day weather.

Due to play Esker hills tomorrow. Not a big fan of the place and debating whether to go if the weather is poor

+1 on esker hills. Never had a fondness for the place. Weather looks okay though.

Considering the conditions the course was in great nick. Some standing water in spots but nothing serious. Like I said, I was very impressed with the place, can't wait to play it again.

    Tomorrow is a gale man.

Its all over the place. I was watching the irish weather earlier on RTE and first they showed a thunder cloud over Meath, the the 4day preview at the end showed sunshine tomorrow:confused:

3 Different sites, surely they can't all be wrong?

I'm trusting weather reports less and less the last few weeks.

The 3 reports say the same thing as Fix, it'll be blowing a gale.

Look past the pictures of the sun to the wind column :)

It won't be far off it :)

The Yr.No (3rd imagine) is probably the most realiable, it has the wind reading in M/S, metres per second, 13 or 14 M/S is ball not staying on the tee and balls flying off once stopped on the green.conditions.

Yes is always a little better inland - unplayable on coast - was due to play too. Was back into my own routine after xmas. Xmas has messed up everything including golf - i guess that is what Christmas is for.

For me I'm now too old for double figure m/s wind speed - it is sort of a a rule of thumb for me now. Pity, because - this week looked like good weather in every other way.

Then - I often think - do we look at the weather too much - particularly in the long term. Long term weather predictions with high wind speeds does not seem to work. So dan that is why you are seeing the model change so much.

I've often said - well I'll hit the range. But, do you learn much in winds like that ?

So maybe I'll wake up and it will be perfect - but , I often hope that Paddy will win a major every time he is in one.
