Very little rain in Kildare. Seems to have hit coastal areas.

parts of the midlands got a serious going over. Carlow got pissed on. Tullamore/mullingar got dumped on,cavan getting dumped on. Northern Ireland has been written off altogether!

Any good tips for sunburn lads???

Absolute cracker in the Costa del Mulranny today... We had a light shower for half a hole on the 10th... We needed it, we were dying with the heat.

Not often Mayo gets the best of it :)

Any word on the expected weather for tomorrow. Thinking of heading out in the morning to play Royal Tara Open Singles.

Looks like a 0.1 day tomorrow, some nasty weather coming in by all accounts. People starting to abandon the timesheet already :). Is anyone planning on braving it tomorrow?

I'm going to try tough it out. Only get to play once per week at best so I'm liable to play in all sorts of weather!!

I'm gonna tough it out. It's looks like one of those days that make the good weather rounds that little bit more enjoyable.

Playing 36 holes in East Leinster Mixed Foursomes in Craddockstown....:o:eek::cool:

Galvin Green will be on at 07:30 to tough it out - then dart back home to head into the Flightfest.

With the weather predicted the fest seems like a recipe for a disaster movie !! The headline "Airbus A380 crashes into Dublin's Spire during air show" ;-)

Just took a quick look at the rainfall radar - I can see the massive rain has already hit the West.

Out at 9am. Going by Accuweather App, we might get 9 dry holes in first, doesn't look awful bad for Clondalkin.
Half a decent summer and we're afraid of a shower :)

The wind is up, that'll bother me a hell of a lot more

Out at 8.30 in the morning, not looking good for Donegal, 100% rain and strong winds. Its the last chance to get our matchplay semi played or else its a toss of a coin:(

Out at 9 and looks like I might get 18 holes in dry but windy conditions. Galvin Green will still be on in case

I hit off at 08:36 and it was a feckin rubbish day for golf. Once the wet got in your were fecked. I suffer a lot with the rain as I wear glasses and its a pain having to wipe every few seconds.

    Should have stayed in bed.

I'd say that was us behind you today so Macker, our 2 ball was out at 8:52, don't think the lads in between our tee times showed up at all.... There were a few occasions were we were going to call it a day.
The rain was bad, the wind kills it for me though.
For those that did turn up, not many made it to 10. The course was very very quiet behind us.

    Played the reopened ballyneety.
Tee time was 09.30. Got absolutely soaked. But had an okay round tbh. Lots of slips due to wet. But very happy with course overall.

    Slow. But in great condition.
Some really tough greens to read.
Its better to be accurate with short game and hope for easy putt.

Our 3 ball was out at 7.48, was gonna walk in after 9 but stayed out for 18, hardcore weather today guys, after that great summer I would say we are in for a winter of pain.

Yeah, and after my battling back 9, the sun comes out & afternoon scoring is considerably better & css only goes out to 74.

When I was putting in score Donal in the shop said best was -2. He was expecting the css to be too high to be qualifying. Turns out +2 came in later in the day. Just had a look & the only 3 players to shoot level or better all teed off after 11

My -5 ended up 1 away from buffer.

Crazy conditions, -6 for front 9, +1 for back. Difference was on the back I played "Greebo" golf :D Stuck the driver in the bag & played percentage golf.

Fair play to aj for sticking it out with me. Was easily the wildest conditions I've played in out there.

well that was a hell of a day for golf.
very heavy rain for the first 18, then a3 club end for the second, but at least it was dry.
    I'd forgotten how tiring 36 holes was...getting old. :-(

Teed off at 8 and walked in after 9. Course was empty. Wasn't too bad to start. Wet and windy but doable. Around half way through it got ridiculous. Lashing rain and 4 club wind.

To add insult to injury the greens hadn't been cut (despite fine day yesterday) and were as slow as a wet week. All in all happy to get out for a few but happy enough to leave it after 9. :)

The back 9 is so open that even on less windy days it can be a test so with gale force in action this morning along with the lashings of rain which was horizontal at times I wouldn't have blamed anyone for walking off. I don't mind a challenge but today was just cruel. :(:(.

I was level coming off the front and crumbled to a -5

Playing in the semi finals on the club foursomes on Wednesday so hopefully it will be a little kinder.

Worst wind conditions I've ever played a competition in. Even though the greens had not been cut the ball was still moving on the green.
I would like to say they were unplayable conditions and that's why I had a net 89.
Except my playing partner has a gross 79 (net 74), which considering the conditions is the best round of golf I've seen in a long long time.

Totally agree. Some days you have to say its just not worth it and put the feet up at home. I dont mind a bit of rain but when your playing in gale force winds theres very little point, wonder how folks playing links courses in Donegal and Sligo got on as I think they were hit the worst?!

I don't know, to be honest I quite enjoyed my day out getting battered by wind & rain, kinda made me feel like I was playing in The Open :D

Also made me stop & think about my golf & howyto play a hole to maximise my chance of a result relative to my handicap.

Sure, I got a 0.1, sure I got soaked, but it beats sitting in bed on a Sunday morning

When I was a bit younger and perhaps less critical I would have had a similar outlook. But now I get so feckin annoyed when I get out to play some golf and get the day ruined by absolute ****ty weather. I played twice last week and got destroyed both days by lashing rain.
