No way! That place is terrible and overpriced also.

I like ER but for the same price there are better places. Stop comparing to McDonalds and compare to other burger resteraunts.
In Dublin either the counter, Aussie BBQ(thier chips rock!) or Bunsen have better stuff for the same price. Bobos is ok(i find you either love it or hate it)

Aus BBQ is what I want in a burger; good price filling and delicious! Great White for €9, shared fries and I am filled!

On a side note burritos are fantastic value.

Don't forget the elite among you (a.k.a wretcheddomain) who eat at Michelin starred restaurants.

You can stick your cheap burgers where the sun don't shine i.e. inside your mouth.

Eddie Rockets is less Michelin....more Michelin Man

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,293 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

    So many idiots in here.

Eddie Rockets food is obviously much better quality and nicer than any other fast food place.

    Eddie Rockets is expensive ....

Expensive for what you are getting. Take the average burger there. You will pay on average €10 / €11 and it just doesnt warrent that price when you can go over to a burger king/mcdonalds/takeaway of your choosing and pay much less for the same standard of burger.

Shouldn't have opened this thread. I would murder any one of you for a malt right now. :(

There is a great place called smiths in Cavan who do the same style of "gourmet" burgers and I prefer them to eddies. On top of that they are cheaper, The beef comes from a butcher in town and there is no cheesy music or stop go sign. Their version of the smokestack is also nicer but it's not made for one sitting. Can never finish the bloody thing. Ooh and they do fresh cut thick chips too!

Forgot about the milkshakes at eddies though. They are unbelievable

Chilli dog and bacon and cheese fries with buffalo wings to start, bleedin' delish man.

It doesnt cost 8-9 euro for a burger combo meal in McDonalds. Although you get better food and service etc in Eddie Rockets its gonna cost twice as much as regular fast food places. Which is why its seen as expensive by people who just want a burger and chips.

    Twice as much? Hardly.

It's not the same standard of burger.

Look at them and taste them and they are in no way comparable.

It's the same food as you'd get in any chipper at twice the price of the chipper. It's not like the 'gourmet burger' places with exotic toppings; just bog standard beef, onions and mayo. There's very little to justify the higher prices.

Having said that, I think that even the gourmet burger places are starting to struggle, as customers look at a burger with a tears-of-baby-unicorn topping for €15 and say "It's just a burger, FFS."

Who wants to go all the way to Cavan for a burger though, come on

Worked there for a whole two days back in the 90's. Have not eaten there since. Enjoy the sauce girls and boys.

This is where you're going to say it was taken out back and a few lads had some, shall we say personal time, and it was then all mixed up with the secret sauce.

but we all know that's going to be bullshít.

This. They market themselves as a fast food diner, which in Ireland we see as a fast food takeaway, and thus see Eddies as an overpriced chipper.

Joels on the Naas Road used to be better, but not so much anymore.

The one thing I dislike about Eddies is having to tell them that I want real cheese. And have to do so every time. The fake cheese is disgusting!

    =-=

Nothing. Close. To. Ricks Burgers, though!

I sometimes pass by Cavan on the N3 on the way to Fermanagh; is it near the N3 at all? May pop in for "half-way snack" :D
