It's expensive for the ****e you get.

McDonalds might have thinner burgers but it's at least a fiver cheaper than Eddies to get the same thing.
Atmosphere in Eddies is cheap, same as McDonalds.

You're paying for the service really, you're paying for waiters to hand you fast food.

I'd rather go to somewhere decent and get an early bird meal for €16 than spend €12 in Eddie Rockets.

EDIT: Or I'd rather go to McDonalds to get the same thing for less, and serve myself (much faster!) instead of being waited on. Is that really worth an extra fiver + tip? :P

    The same thing?? Really?

This. They market themselves as a fast food diner, which in Ireland we see as a fast food takeaway, and thus see Eddies as an overpriced chipper.

Joels on the Naas Road used to be better, but not so much anymore.

The one thing I dislike about Eddies is having to tell them that I want real cheese. And have to do so every time. The fake cheese is disgusting!

    =-=

Nothing. Close. To. Ricks Burgers, though!

    =-=

I sometimes pass by Cavan on the N3 on the way to Fermanagh; is it near the N3 at all? May pop in for "half-way snack" :D

Always hearing great things about thins place. Had a burger from here a few weeks back and it was absolutely disgusting. Couldn't pay me to go back.

The beef pattie in a ER Classic Burger pretty much dwarves what you would get in an equivalent McDs, BK or local chipper.

Its not even close, its 2X/3X times as thick.

Again, Classic Combo mean (Drink, dries and Classic Burger) for 9.75 is not expensive.

A crap Extra Value meal in McDs costs the guts of 8 and the guts og 9 if you want to supersize.

Granted you may feel the need to leave a euro tip at Eddies for a 9.75 meal but its still optional.

that's the thing...i don't want a thick lump of mince...a thick cut of quality steak, sure, but with ground meat patties - thin is good.

Ah now chippers arent known for their decent size burgers.
Some are, its not like they are a chain, all identical. Many I go to seem to give 1/4 pounders which are larger than a 1/4lb, probably 5oz bugers, like I see supermacs are doing now. Most will do half pounders.

Eddies are 1/3rd of a pound, or so they claim, that is 5.3ounces, BK & mcd do 1/4lbers which is 4oz. So the ER is 32% bigger, so if it really is 3 times as thick with only 32% more meat then you can keep you "golf ball syndrome" burger, I hate them like that, being flat and thin means a good ratio of browned beef. If I want more I can get a double or triple whopper or 1/2lber in a chipper. I much prefer multiple patties, but also prefer the standard size being more normal, and not having huge yokes as the only option.

Another selecting one of the better deals in ER & completely ignoring the eurosaver menu and the fact you can just ask at the counter for a book of vouchers with things like a big mac & medium fries for €3.80. The mcdonalds meals are relatively expensive, I also don't like having drinks included in any meals.

Eddie.... Where have all the burger gone?
I asked about the burgers in the Dundrum, why are they a lot smaller than they used to be? Was told they haven't changed. Asked what size they are supposed to be and was told they are quater pounders.... Even though the menu clearly states 1/3 pound?.... Would explain why they seem to have gotten a lot smaller recently (although, the price is still as high as always!)

So Eddie, as a regular customer (Bray & Dundrum).... I ask you, where have all the burger gone?

Eddie Rockets Ireland Hi Eamonn, Eddie has not changed weight of Hamburgers in any way so we are very sorry to hear that you did not receive your usual portion size. Will investigate further Eamonn and thank you for your honest feedback

    Wut?

Eddies in limerick (before he lost the franchise) and now 'Rocking Joes' did, and still does any 2 burgers, 2 fries and 2 cokes for 15 euro. It used to be 13.

40 quid for 2 meals? That's just nuts...

Was in there the day Ireland played the All Blacks.
    3 Chips,2 Mexican type Burgers,1 Sandwich,2 Milkshakes and 1 Coke.
Cost €44, which I thought was fairly costly.

A burger combo meal is about a tenner each.

    Just don't get cheese fries.

I don't know what misfortune you have had to pay that price in an ER in the last three/four years or whenever they introduced the combo.

    I'd have to disagree.

The patty in a McDonalds burger is wafer thin and the ER's taste far more 'real' for want of a better word.

You've gone a bit off point.

Not too sure what alot of your post means but to my mind the meat content of standard ER burger, which is made from raw mince on the spot, feels far larger than the discs McDonalds serve.

I can't speak for other 'upmarket' burger joints (I use the term loosely of course) but an ER burger is on another planet to McDs and BK.

I thought it was pretty clear.

1- you hugely exaggerated the difference in size of the burgers, saying 2-3x the thickness when its only 32% more.

Unless you were actually comparing them to the 1 euro burgers, which would be ridiculous.

2- you are not comparing like with like, picking the very cheapest meal option in ER and comparing it to the expensive "non-deal" meals in McDs. In your last post you were in effect admitting you have to stick to the deals in ER for any decent value, telling they guy not to get what he actually wanted.

Many people want to order what they actually want, and so these will view it as being very expensive.
