Look, you're obviously are never going to see this from our point of view so I don't know why I'm bothering but:

We did not want the photo on facebook so we emailed it to family instead of posting it for everyone to see. The photo was forwarded to his cousin, not sent directly from us and as soon as she received it it went straight up on facebook with us tagged in the photo.

Personally, I do not think that it is appropriate to put a picture of someone else's child on facebook unless you know the parents are ok with it, especially a photo that the parents took and chose to email instead. If we had wanted it on facebook we put have put it there ourselves. I really think the parents should have control of what pictures of their child (if any) go on the internet. I fail to see how you can disagree with that? Do you have a child? Are there pictures of them everywhere then? All of her facebook friends can see the photo as she put it up online, we don't know who most of them are or what her privacy settings are like.

Fair enough, his cousin may not have realised that we felt that way (although I think it is fairly obvious it was not a cool thing to do). We weren't thrilled about it but we didn't make too much of a big deal about it. Her response to a polite email letting her know that we'd prefer for her not to do it again was to put up a passive aggressive post on facebook - which is what really annoyed me and what imo, makes it dumb. This woman is nearly thirty. If it were me, I would have sent a quick email back apologising.

I should also point out it isn't the first time she did something like this. When the baby was born my husband rang his father and his aunt and cousin happened to be in the house at the time. His cousin promptly put up a photo of a blue bear on facebook and tagged us both, saying congrats on the birth of your baby boy. Unfortunately, as it was only about an hour after he arrived we didn't have time to tell the people we wanted to before they saw it on facebook. Again, I don't think that is appropriate but we didn't say anything to her about it.
