Greetings from my new PC!!! *Haven't figured out where to plug in the front fans, or in built speakers, but headphones are working fine and I have a cooler! 4 hours of swearing but it was worth it!

To paraphrase Churchill when you approach your first build
I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat. We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months hours of struggle and of suffering.

    Well wear!

Cheers! I've fixed motorbikes easier than I built it! Can't find the right plugs on the Mobo for the fans/ speakers but I'll get a more competent person to look than me over the weekend... But now, ARMA 3

The motherboard manual should have a diagram showing where to plug in the connections for the front panel (usb, audio, power etc.) and show where to plug in the cpu and case fans.

The sys fan ports don't match the plugs, but I'm going to call in the experts tomorrow, if I get to bed! Ha

This reminds me, I have a couple (read: 2) of those little cables with resistors in them to reduce fan speed, so if anybody is stuck for one (and like me didnt have a bigger order to bundle it on, or justify the postage on its own!) just drop a PM and i can post one on (though it may not be in a very timely manner)

Took me the longest time to figure out why my front headphone port wouldn't work. Never knew there was a difference between HD audio and AC 97. Apparently there is. I really disliked all those small fiddly cables for audio and the LED's.

The only audio I'm getting is through headphones, but I think I know why. Will re connect stuff tomorrow

Just one possibility but the only time I have came across this issue myself was when the folder for the game was supposed to be in common rather than the main steamapps folder.

Ya thanks for the reply. Iv also read about that but when I created another steam folder on an SSD and I didnt get the common folder option? Of course I could just create it but you'd would think if it was needed, it would of been created

It a sub directory of steamapps, not near my pc at the moment so I can't remember which game it was.

One other trick when I have problems that sometimes works is to delete the game, start installing it and then quit steam. Now copy the folder into the correct location and it should hopefully just verify the files when you launch steam and resume the install.

Edit: If common isn't there you can probably go ahead and create it, afaik steam downloads to temp files and doesn't create the folder until the end so it may just be that there are no games that go there installed yet. It looks like that is where Batman should should go from a quick google.

I was getting crashes at the start but once I pin pointed a few problems, and dice patched the servers I dont crash at all now, 5 hours playing with friends last niggt and ran rock solid.

Have you checked windows event viewer to see what causing the crashes?

I think ill have to return my corsair H100i. Im getting a grind noise when I turn on the pc or wakes from sleep. The grind noise eventually does ago away but paying so much for somthing, it should be perfect

It's just listed as an "application hang" but that seems to be it.

D5 pump, bay res, Raystorm block, XSPC GPU blocks, Alphacool 240 80mm rad (front) and 45mm for top.

Seriously considering going down the water cooling root myself. Is it a costly pursuit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

In a word: Yes. Most people find it worth it though. A lot of the components can be re-used from build to build.

i assume for that 45mm rad fans are on top of case?

No, sorry, a second rad, 45mm thick. Top of the case might take a 60mm one, but then you're into motherboard heatsink collisions, so I couldn't say for sure.

by the looks of it ill need a 30mm (35 at most) as it will hit dims at 45

Bah. You might be able to fit a 120 in the back too. Managed it with my 600T, and internally most Corsair cases are very similar.

Ye I was but I'm playing at stock clocks now. Read on the battlelog forums that some people fixed it by using default key bindings. Probably/More than likely just a happy coincidence but I'll give it a shot none the less.
