The 150bhp 320d can hit 205bhp with the right exhaust mods and an aggressive remap. 530d being 6pot and bigger capacity anyway should have more in the tanks for remapping. It's not crazy figures tbh

There's actually no need to with a diesel. They aren't emissions tested, only smoke tested - So having a cat for the purposes of the NCT is pointless.

Sounds like a no brainer so.

Does that mean that whoever is doing the remap has to be shouting and roaring, throwing stuff at walls, beating the buttons on the laptop with a hammer and generally acting the cvnt while doing the remap???? :pac:

So a diesel with a decat will pass the NCT? That's sweet, my 1.8TQS had a decat and I had to put the cat back in for the NCT, gave a nice little boost in fairness and definitely missed it.

As long as the engine is healthy and not smoking the place out of it, yeah. If it's doing that it'd probably destroy the cat anyway. Like I said, diesels only get tested on smoke, not emissions - so the cat isn't having any effect.

Compared to petrols where emissions are tested - It's not going to fail because there's no cat there physically, but because of the impact on emissions removing it has.

The thing to remember is actually - BMW's have multiple cats in the exhaust system. There's ones in the downpipe, and then a centre cat as well.

A hoot. or break the clutch and gearbox? :P
Seeing as there is more torque in a e60 535d than there is in an equivalent e60 m5, and BMW themselves said that the e60 manual 'boxes couldnt be relied upon to handle the torque of a 535d

They weren't arsed making one for the 535d and it's a pity to be honest, it'd be a better car to drive with a manual imo :)
I've been reading maps for mine there and they are seeing 286bhp and 620nm and they're still going :)
I know you love autos and I manuals and we'll never see eye to eye on that point :)

There's a mechanic down here who has 200hp out of his 320d alright but apparently the engine and clutch aren't having any of it.

I do think it was more that I misinterpreted your gearchange instruction to be fair.
In my cars they pick the gears!

    Good day! :pac:

The clutch slave cylinder leak was happening for a while prior, but was a slow leak.

Yeah keep it in 3rd until 100.
Top speed is 140 mph. You thought I meant 100 mpg in 3rd. That would mean I would need 5th and 6th.

100mph or kph? The gtv can't stand being in fifth until you hit about 80 mph

Went into the city centre (Dublin) with the OH today for a bit of couple time. Usual course of the smokers hit and we got a beggar asking us for a smoke. Dear god, he was in bits, and after the OH (who is softer than soft) gave him a smoke, he asked if we would walk with him to a cafe and buy him dinner.

Now in fairness to the Oh the chap had a black bag of his belongings in his hand, looked in rag order, and didn't seem high/drunk.

I buggered off as I couldn't be dealing with it, and the OH gave him a few smokes and a bit of cash.

About 90 minutes later we met the chap again. He'd used the money to get a meal (looked a million times better) and to pay to use the toilets in Stephens Green to have a wash, (God love him, he even held out his hand to OH to show how he smelled better) He was delighted with himself, very profuse in thanking the OH for his help. Must be a desperate life :(

On the other hand 2.5 hours parking in Stephens Green was €11. Next time the Oh refuses to park in my work car park, he can pay for the chuffing parking!

100 mph in third stheno was what he thought i meant!

The alfas pulls really well in 6th. So motorway etc slip her into 6th a few km over the speed limit and overtake all the d4ds.

Closest you can get without remapping is a F10 530D. Its available in manual and puts down similar (though obviously lesser) performance to the pre-LCI (ie 2004 - 2007) 535d.
