    Rattle?

I'm looking forward to next week and mega service/nct, will be dead chuffed if it passes, am sure it will fail, I'm convinced they fail non standard cars, so bringing in OHs Merc to check.

Definitely getting the exhaust tip thanks to Super and his post, half thinking of a chrome gear knob and new steering wheel.

If the car passes the NCT I will drive it to death, so want it nice.

Also have to get the fat bastard rips on the side of the drivers seat fixed, didn't help that pred drove it recently :D they've expanded

Been offered a test drive of a Manual 2003 e39 530D that's remapped and de catted to 250hp and offered to sell it to me next year. Hmmm, decisions, decisions.

There the 192 bhp engines? That's quite a jump for a map!

How do you get de catted through the NCT though?

put the cat back in, usually when they're removed they place mounts and a straight pipe in. Then you can put the cat back in on these mounts :)

Yup, that's the engine alright, I thought the same with the big jump but he says the car has taken it very well.

The only thing I'd be worried about would be the clutch dealing with it?
You have the same torque as an e60 535d, it would be a hoot to drive with manual :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,302 ✭✭✭Supergurrier

Those e39 530d's have very small intercoolers. Would certainly be a worthwhile upgrade.

A hoot. or break the clutch and gearbox? :P
Seeing as there is more torque in a e60 535d than there is in an equivalent e60 m5, and BMW themselves said that the e60 manual 'boxes couldnt be relied upon to handle the torque of a 535d

He said he's had no problems with it in the 6 years he's owned it. He's a proper BMW enthusiast.

The 150bhp 320d can hit 205bhp with the right exhaust mods and an aggressive remap. 530d being 6pot and bigger capacity anyway should have more in the tanks for remapping. It's not crazy figures tbh

There's actually no need to with a diesel. They aren't emissions tested, only smoke tested - So having a cat for the purposes of the NCT is pointless.

So a diesel with a decat will pass the NCT? That's sweet, my 1.8TQS had a decat and I had to put the cat back in for the NCT, gave a nice little boost in fairness and definitely missed it.
