We should be seeing affordable mainstream 1440p monitors already. Pc hardware is not ready for 4k. Not unless you don't mind spending 3-5k on a pc.
Ya the rig I was playing on had titans and I'd imagine textures look like ass on other games as they weren't fantastic on bf4

We hopefully will see some mainstream ones but it seems that oled is the Koreans manufacturers main focus now (in non 4k stuff mainly)

Waiting on my parts from Hardwareversand... Watching UPS like it's a horse race... Left Germany last night, left Barking UK today, should be here Friday apparently!

I'm happy with this, I really hate LED backlit monitors. If OLED can provide much better contrast and colours it's more important to me than extreme high res.
It would be a visual update with out having to spend extra on expensive graphics cards.

Oled does look amazing if I had to drop back to 1080 I would Choose oled over anything else atm

If only it was half the price it currently is :pac:

So why does everyone on Boards recommend hardwareversand? I bought my parts about 2 years ago now from Scan.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk . Found both of their prices and websites to be much better than hardwareversand

Because it's convenient to order everything from 1 place. You might find a couple of parts cheaper elsewhere but full builds tend to always work out cheaper on HWVS. I'm not going to go traipsing through every site looking for the best prices when recommending a build to someone either.

Insanely cheap delivery... 35kg of stuff for e19 from Germany in 3 days... That's impressive

Of course, when HWVS first became popular here on boards, the likes of Scan and Amazon weren't delivering components to Ireland at all. I still recommend people shop around though.

Scan.co.uk has good daily deals but generally their stuff is a little more expensive. Their delivery is unbelievable though. I've had next day deliveries twice last month from them!

Their RMA is good too when I've had to use it.

I had that with a completely non-tech related company. Shipping was on the expensive side but next-day delivery from Barcelona definitely seemed worth the extra.

I read a while back that the 7970/7950 might make use of it too.How true that is i dont know.

I am grudgingly gaining new levels of respect for Windows 8, tonight I took the ssd from the AM3 board I got rid of a few weeks ago, having uninstalled any hardware specific drivers I could think of beforehand, popped it into a z77 Pro 3 tonight and was looking at the login screen after only about 60 seconds of hardware reconfiguration.

No repair/fresh installs required, and the OS appear to be in pretty good shape so far.
    Hows the cable management space?
    Bazzo wrote: »
Helped a friend with his build using a deep silence II a while back and have a deep silence I myself. Cable management space can be fairly tight on both of them, took the pair of us and a little bit of manhandling to get the side panel back on.

The overall cable management layout seems very well thought out, but very tight at the back as Bazzo says, there can't be much more than about 1.5cm to work with.

Still think the side panels are a bit flimsy, if it wasn't for the ample noise insulating material on the inside you'd think they belonged to a case half the price. That minor quibble aside its a very fine piece of kit indeed.

Also the 5.25" bays are tool-less but not the 3.5" ones, come on off it Naxonia :pac:

AFAIK Mantle can be implemented on all GCN (Graphics Core Next) cards, which means everything from 77XX series up.

Thinking get of getting a MBP for college and I was just wondering is there compatibility issues with USB Memory Sticks? Like if I was writing programme on the Mac, could I throw it onto my computer or a college computer without any issue?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

As long as it's not NTFS formatted, yeah. Mac's will read FAT/32 fine. (Most sticks are FAT32 by default)

Starting a Comp Sci degree? As above FAT is supported by everything, but your IDE and code may not be portable cleanly between OSX and Windows depending on what youre doing. But you can always run windows on your MBP ;)

In my 2nd year of the Comp Sci, and oh how a laptop would be so convenient!

Just absolutely zero experience with MAC! They seem pretty nice though!

Thinking about getting one of these. Has anyone got one? Reviews are positive apart from cooling performance which i'm sure would be sorted by filling out the fan slots.

I hate the way reviews base the cooling on stock performance. Add some bloody fans and test again.
