Why do Irish People stand on escalators in such an arsed-way manner?

What is rude, however, is knowing something, realising someone else doesn't know it, and penalising them for it rather than informing them.

+1, I took the wrong lane in a car park once. I never noticed the sign which said one way. When I got out of the car, a woman who was parked across from me politely told me I was driving in the wrong lane. Now I'll know in future. She could have been a bitch about it but she wasn't.

No, because it's a stupid thing to do and really annoys normal people
I'd just shove her down the escalator

No you wouldn't. :) Talk is cheap and all that.

Why wouldn't you be aware of your surroundings? Especially in a big city? It's pretty obvious in London that everyone stands to one side, you'd have to be seriously oblivious to not notice that. Also, there are signs at the top of escalators saying 'stand on the right'.

I do think it's rude to shove someone out of the way, but anytime I've ever seen anyone do that, they HAVE asked politely several times and the person was standing there totally oblivious.

people poo into a hole in the ground in other countries too...that doesn't mean you have to do it in Ireland - we are in IRELAND right. :D:D

I'd just shove her down the escalator and casually step over her at the bottom, true south London style. I dare say she'd just stand on the right next time.

Are you still raving on about escalators  you don't even work in Ireland but you got held up on a London escalator where everybody stands to one side:rolleyes:

No, but I don't judge those who do
Like I said, it's *worth* pissing off people who get wound up so easily. Fun times.

I know .. its funny watching the wind up merchants thinking they are escalating the situation.

If you say nothing they'll do more and more crazy stuff to try and get a reaction :P

Some people used to call them 'moving stairs'.

    Which makes sense.

+1, OP. Escalators are only there to HELP you move, not to cart your lazy fat fucking ass up the stairs. If that's what you want, then get the lift. The same people who hog both sides of the escalators are the same people who'd lane hog, usually middle-aged fools and hipsters.

These'd be the same people who'd linger for ages in eateries and canteens hogging tables long after their food is gone when people who buy food have no where to sit and are then forced to take their food out. Fuckwits. These people really annoy me :(

I agree, it's not arrogant to expect others to have some consideration.
It would be arrogant and ignorant to refuse to move, people might have places to go!
